The answer is not that simple. It depends on what type of bamboo you have. Some bamboos develop toxins called fenrons when they are grown indoors. This occurs due to an inability of the plant to process deoxy-fenron without sunlight. The resultant toxin is highly toxic particularly to indoor cats, as they too are unable to completely break down the morphonucleotides into nucleomorphotides without sunlight. An outdoor cat eating indoor bamboo would be just fine, as would an indoor cat eating outdoor bamboo, but when you have a mismatch such as the one you describe, the results can be tragic. If/when the cat dies, be sure to only handle the corpse with non-latex gloves as the body will continue to give off aromatic toxins knowns felinus toxin #a-1G, which may react with latex. The same would be true for latex condoms.

hi there late chiming in, but we formerly had a butler's pantry with a hutch in it. our pet peeve was the shallow counter in front of the upper doors. we just couldn't resist putting things on it which had to be moved every time we wanted something from the cabinet. it was so annoying that we stopped using the top cabinet of the hutch. now it's gone completely. i notice your cabinet is near a doorway...is this a place where people are likely to set things? if so, you're better off keeping the cabinet the way it is to prevent that...you know your needs best. the short counters of the inspiration pic also remind me of those short counters that "banjo" from the vanity over the toilet tank in some bathrooms. some people love em, some hate em. can you use the skinny counter? i think your cabinets look pretty and also traditional. many traditional kitchens had glass doors but no moulding which would have been much too fancy for a kitchen in that era. but moulding can also look good. one final thought...are deeper cabinets more easily lit from inside (more room for the lighting?) i would put plain white dishes in the back and then the pretty things up front. best of luck to you!! kren

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I really love that photo, tibbrix, and I did wonder about moving the TV over in that corner. Hate to block a window, though. As for the rest of you, I agree about not being married to these sofas. We had actually started out with some darker green clean-lined sofas that were beautiful (from Crate and Barrel), but the cushions started sinking just a few months after purchase. They let us exchange for these, but I've never liked them--completely different style and not the color I wanted. So going with an even lighter green may indeed drive me nuts. I really wanted a pattern this time around too. What's important to my physical health is to have a sofa that sits high and is firm. (Arthritis in knees and back trouble.) I'm going to contact the manufacturer of this sofa and ask where we can purchase one custom. But what I do remember about them is that they only have this 84" sofa and then a very small loveseat--smaller than our current loveseat. We'd probably have to throw a chair in somehow. BUT I do wish I could get my husband to help me move those bookcases to either side of the TV to see how they would look. It would be a big job, but there's only one way to find out how it would work... The salesman has ONE blue sofa (I never considered blue EVER so have to wrap my mind around that--the rug would have to go). It's firm but doesn't sit as high as the celery sofa. He suggested getting 2 chairs with a table between to be in place of the loveseat. Where would we put lighting for the sofa, though? It would look odd to have table in the corner between the sofa and first chair and then another table in between the 2 chairs. But honestly, my first thought when I saw these was "old-fashioned." On the other hand, we probably can't afford the style I'd really like. Sorry for rambling...

For comfort you need to sit on the pieces, most good outdoor furniture cushions are pretty good at repelling water bit you have to remember there are seams that will allow water into the filling if soaked .We live where we get torrential downpours and I actully move my cusions under an overhang if I hear the forecast. I have never really looked but there might be cushion makers that use a glue in the seams which I think would avoid the water getting in .
