I had posted this same question just a short time ago; in fact, at first I thought it was my post popping up again! I have two twin beds. I purchased the lambswool connector that goes between the two beds; it comes with a strap that surrounds and buckles around the beds. I placed a mattress cover over each bed first. Then placed the lambswool piece in the center and buckled it together. I then placed a king sized mattress cover over that. It works great and makes a wonderful king sized bed. Twin beds are actually five inches shorter than kings, but I didn't have any difficulty placing king sized sheets on the bed. I bought my "connector" on line at Comfort House. I personally have this option right now. I call it the "poor man's King Size Bed". We have 2 Ikea twin mattresses side by side (no "topper"). There is a HUGE benefit to this system = no "movement" transfer from one partner to the other. The mattresses isolate the movement to one side of the bed. That means an active sleeper won't disrupt the other. We also find that we can pick and choose the mattress that is ideal for ourselves without worrying about compromising each other's comfort. The king "topper" - as comfortable as it is - will transfer movement from one mattress to the other. But it won't be as noticeable as a regular sized king mattress. If you like the topper than go for it. You might want to try out the twin mattresses alone...and then see if you wish to add the topper at a later date. That's the beauty of this system...it is extremely flexible. Good luck. I hope my experience helps. An extra long won't feel any different than the same model in regular twin length of 75 inches. A twin won't feel any different than the same model and construction in the king or queen size model. As with all things, comfort is personal, and price is usually indicative of quality. ......and often comfort, but not always. It's a third of your life for the next decade. Divide is my advice, based on that. Thus...even 5 k over ten years is 500.00 per year for that third of your life. What do you spend on a car, as I doubt you spend eight hours a day in that machine : )?

The mattress is separted by a bunkie board which sits on box spirngs. we tried to remove box springs but the bed frame has a divider between the twin box springs so matteess would not be stable or level? lmk any ideas! thx!
