Sherilynn, that would be supremely helpful!! (not that I was ever going to get them, but it does make walking away easier). I am thinking of some pottery barn stools, either the Tibetan ones mentioned above (which look identical to the ones on Overstock and cheaper at Overstock, so I'd get them there) or the Megan stool. I think the point of a false sense of security with little kids and a stool with a back is a good one... also, a backless stool is going to be better for me so that I can tuck them under the counter as the spot for the stools is a little bit of a busy passageway. AND the backless stools aren't as wide which is also good for me. THANKS!! ps: I like the stool with the piping. I figured I could get an extra slipcover or two (still a lot less $$ than springing for the Moser stools) so that when the kids spill I can change it out. I have found that the straw seats aren't good for us... my 2 year old spills his milk while eating his cereal and so it isn't very easy to clean it out of straw (yuck!). probably wood would be the best for cleaning, but those megan stools look really comfy. helou, I emailed you back with info but will include some details here for others. I do love my stools, but I only needed two, so I could (sort of) justify the cost. They are made by Trica in Canada. The style is Champagne and is of brushed steel (looks just like stainless); I chose black vinyl seats because I just knew I'd spill flour or other goop on fabric ones, and leather was about $75 additional. I got the 26" counter height with memory swivel. The upcharge for the memory swivel ($15-20?) was worth every penny, as the backs always look neat when no one is seated. When they arrived, (seats needed to be bolted to backs) my machinist brother-in-law looked them over and also noted how well they were made. The list price is about $500 each, but I found them for around $280 including shipping, through an online source. I don't remember the company I bought them from, but you should be able to get a good price with some digging. I decided to bite the bullet and buy this expensive a chair because I only needed two and these also had excellent back support that I would need while prepping food. I saw different Trica chairs at a local dining room showroom and was impressed with the quality. I found this particular style by looking through the catalog. I actually brought home four different stools so I could narrow down wood vs metal, contemporary vs. traditional, and height of backs with relationship to the view from different angles. I feel a bit guilty for buying them on-line, but the most I could get off from the local retailer was 20%. Norwalk Furniture has several stools options and a plethora of fabric from which to chose. If you are looking for stock stools, try Furniture Classics or Dovetail. I carry all three lines. Norwalk is the nicest but also the highest price point. The others are nice for the pice.
