Two different wood floors adjacent?

We have a traditional gunstock 2.25" wood floor in our foyer/dining room. We now want to replace the carpet in our family room with wood and ideally we love a wide (5") hand scraped/distressed plank wood that is more informal and farmhouse look.

The problem is, there is a doorway into the family room where the two woods will meet.

Is it possible to do this and have it look nice? Do we try to match the gunstock color so the new floor is the same color visually but just differs in plank size and texture?

Or do we go with a darker new floor so there is a clear demarcation? Is there any type of transition/border that could work? I have been googling images but haven't really seem anything that describes this
