I'm new here, so I've never done one of these before and am not sure what's involved, but even tho I try to eat healthy, I'm not giving up desserts totally! So I'm in! Just let me know what I need to do.

Lisa, welcome to the forum! I'm guessing it would be like the WFD post but just dessert with or without pics... a lot of times recipes are shared too.

I've always thought a what's for breakfast thread would be cool too. We have had random posts about that, mainly on the weekends, over the years.

I started a what's for breakfast once, but it didn't take off. I think it would be good to revive, however, although I have less time for making breakfast now that I did before.

I also like the idea of what's for dessert, and that might be more popular than what's for breakfast. Although I used to be a pastry chef in San Francisco, I seldom make desserts any more, except for holidays, but I do make simple ones that I like very much, like fruit drizzled with 12 year old Balsamic vinegar:

I especially like apples with Balsamic, which are available all year, unlike strawberries.

Wow - a pastry chef! I feel I can cook with the best of them, but pastry is one area I'm still intimidated by!! Probably because I don't usually "measure" and I think with pastry, measuring and proportions are critical. I did make puff pastry once and it came out pretty good tho!! :)

And I love strawberries with Balsamic vinegar! People look at me like I'm strange when I tell them how good it is!!

I just bought Bon Apetite and they have a recipe for carmel and banana bread pudding in the issue that looks awesome! I'm a big bread pudding fan. Is it ok to post recipes from magazines? I know some places worry about copyright issues and they don't like you doing that. If it's ok, I can post that. I don't think I'm able to post pictures until I set up a site to link to somewhere.

Lars, great pic! I remember the first time I had strawberries with balsamic....my first thought was yuck but man they were so good.

Well, I hope both of these ideas take off...I think they would be great threads like the WFD. The lady that started that has been long gone now but her original post lives on. I'm surprised there hasn't been more ineterest in this given the success of Nancy's new thing and the great cooks and bakers that we have here.

I love strawberries w/balsamic or drizzled chocolate, but I love pastries of all sorts MORE! If flour is an ingredient, I love it. That includes breads (and gravy!)

I think having an ongoing dessert thread would be worth trying...need I say I LOVE DESSERTS? I know I've often made a dessert, that I could have posted about, but just didn't feel it was worthy of it's own thread. I wouldn't have hesitated to add it to an on going thread. I'm sure there are other who feel this way....

Tracey, I'd suggest a title in the subj space that begin's with Dessert, so it's easy to find.
Something like:
Desserts---2009 #1
then new threads can be linked easy. I keep trying to work around the poor search abilities of this site.... :)
