My hubby and I have been working this program for a little over 6 weeks and have lost 25 and 20 pounds respectively. It takes some adjustment - I am a bread/butter/sauce person, which is precisely why I needed this program. The biggest change is in how my clothes fit and how much more energy I have. We sometimes get tired of chicken and I don't eat fish, so that is limiting. Lack of salt was a problem at first, but after a while you start really tasting food again. Carrots are SOOOO sweet! We bake chicken using a little salt-free broth, water or white wine and then cut them into portions and refrigerate. I bake medium-sized red potatoes, sweet potatoes and steam fresh veggies. I boil eggs and then we use the whites in the morning, replacing the yolk (which our dogs find a great treat!) with fresh homemade salsa. I make our meals daily (lunches and snacks for workdays) picking from what I prepare over the weekend. It IS work, but like we tell people who ask, this is not a diet... it is a new way of eating. We will work the plan for a loss of another 20 pounds and then go on maintenance. I don't think we could ever go back to eating the way we did before!

Hi Again! Yes I remember those who have been here for awhile. I come and go. I have posted when depressed and wanting not to be here anymore. I have come one heck of a long way since those days. My mother passed away in 2008. I had it out with dealing with the estate with my family and in the end had to stop all communication for my own sanity. I learned a lot about love and greed. Greed is terrible. Family sometimes can be toxic. Once I learned to love myself enough to do what had to be done I let go of the pressure and stress of dealing with my siblings. Since then I have been on a very positive path back to a strong sense of self worth, self love and the ability to love those around me again. My world is blossoming these days in so many ways. I live in today. As they say if you live in your past you can be depressed. If you live in your future you can become anxious. I am here, now. As much as there are challenges in life I am enjoying a very frugal lifestyle with some very special friends. I am ready to take on a little more. The Weekly thread is taking on life. The Diet Club is breathing again. I would love to see those of you who would like a buddy to help you along with your healthy goals to join. For all my friends on this forum I have been known also as Quiltbunny, Queensharbot. When things settle a little more I may return to post again here. Yeah Mecdave, I realized I should have added more cabbage. Now that they're closed up I don't want to open them. Lots of bubbles in all of them so I'm pretty sure the process has begun. I can't wait till they are done. They already tasted wonderful before I put them in the jars. Green is jalapeños, serranos, poblanos, cilantro, tomatillos, garlic, lime, and an Granny Smith Apple. Orange is red caribbeana and orange habaneros, yellow bells, mango, carrots, ginger, garlic, green onions, an orange, and thyme.
