Reflex Anoxic Seizure is a possibility, but the child will always start breathing on their own in a minute or so (seems like an eternity). Any sudden pain (even a bump) or unexpected stimuli (such as a scare or sudden cold or heat) can cause these. My 18 year old daughter has had these since she was a baby. They are not as frequent anymore (thankfully). They are not dangerous, although in some situations they could be. The biggest danger is not to let your child be anaesthised while sitting up (such as in a dental surgery) because the heart may not restart. My child's pediatrician has always said these were "breath-holding" attacks, which they are...but of a more serious form. I didn't discover what she actually had until just this year. You are right that you only get taxed on dividends....but you will eventually get taxed on earnings when you move from one mutual fund to another in non-retirement accounts. A 15 year $423,500 mortgage at 3.625% interest has total interest paid of $126,146 A 15 year $412,500 mortgage at 3.49% interest has total interest paid of $117,935 That is $8,211 less interest over the 15 years. When you sell your mutual fund at 10 years, the $5,600 is going to be taxed. Also, we can still account for the extra $80 payment. If we invest the $80 at the OP 4.2% (I used annual compounding) over 15 years, we have an end balance of $20,100.20. So (Assuming a purchase price of $550,000) Putting 25% down saves $8,211 in interest. Putting the $80 (monthly payment savings) into the OPs mutual fund earns $20,100.20 over the 15 years. Subtract about $9,500 in loss interest over 15 years on the initial $11,000. That is a TOTAL savings of $28,311.20 less $9,500 for $18,811.20 SAVINGS FROM THE EXTRA $11,000 Downpayment. The other option is to put 25% down (still assuming $550,000 purchase...sorry if I missed price somewhere!), and take the $80 payment difference and add that to the loan payment. This will save interest AND pay off the loan before the 15 years (by about 6 months). The interest savings on adding the $80 to the loan payment versus putting the $80 in the mutual fund is $4,345.74. Additionally, the loan will be paid off in about 14.6 years. The payment savings at the end comes up to $13,839.05. So adding the $80 to the mortgage versus putting it into a mutual fund nets $18,184.79 savings over 15 years. Less the $9,500 earnings from the $11,000 staying in the mutual fund....you net $8,684.79 on this option over just doing the 23% downpayment and leaving the $11,000 in a mutual fund savings. OP-These numbers are based on my purchase price calculation from $11,000 being 2% of the purchase price. I cannot find anywhere where you posted the actual purchase price. Given that you will still have money in mutual funds and retirement savings, Your best financial decision is to put the the 25% down. Take the $80 payment difference and put in your mutual fund. You will be almost $19,000 ahead in 15 years! I do agree that 4.2% is a LOW return for a 29 year old. If you have a job that covers your expenses, keep 6 months expenses in cash or a low risk mutual fund. Then, shoot for a 10% return on the rest of your savings. The funds will go up and down more dramatically, but historically you will be further ahead.

Oakley, Apparently for some that can be a trigger, which I understand to be somewhat different from a "cause." I believe that blinking lights and such might be a trigger if your brain were already wired to be susceptible to seizures, which is what the follow-up MRI would show. Honestly, the brain is so complex that is sometimes seems like almost anything can be a trigger or a cause, and a seizure can showcase the full panoply of human activity.
