Martini party
Comments (4)AnnahE, A couple of years ago, as an auction item at my son's school, we hosted a Martini Party. It was such fun! We had a menu of 15 martini's. Most martinis can be made with the same ingrediants. We named the martini's after the people that hosted the party. Make a run to your local bookstore and get a martini book. There are many ideas for you to choose from. For decorations we had the huge glass martini shaped glasses filled with floating flowers or candles. For the cocktail napkins, paper napkins with an olive on them, found at a closeout party supply store. I would opt for the martini glasses in glass. My experience with the plastic ones are that the bottom falls off and then your guest can't put their glass down because of instability. Food-Finger foods and sandwiches. For some reason figs, fruit and cheese went over very well. Stuffed bread bowls with dip....See MoreHelp! Hors D'oeuvres for 40 - Martini Party
Comments (18)I actually know many caterers who order and restaurants also these are not your Costco/BJ appetizers. If you are a caterer im sure who has a large staff with pastry chef etc im sure then you'd do from start to finish but smaller scale caterers do do this its very common. As I stated before I make 95% but do use this company and others (I cant reveal or my head will go on a chopping block by fellow caterers) for fillers that are great quality...is it a trade secret??? I guess, of course no one in the industry walks around going "Hey what appetizer company do you use?"..As a matter of fact the company Sweet Street distributes tons of cakes and pastrys to many many restaurants all over America. Ill bet you have gone to many a large party where the caterer has done this and you were not aware,Ive seen it with my own eyes. I myself handle small party's start to finish but when i book a 100 plus party i surely do not make every appetizer from scratch....the main courses are always made by me. Surprised you all were surprised....See MoreEver heard of this turkey curry ball hors d'oeuvre?
Comments (4)Wow that sounded so good that I googled it and came up with many recipes. I have to tell you that I am really inclined to try one. We love curry and I like to make meatballs.... If no one here has a recipe for you, just Google and see if anythng sounds good or like what you ate. I found many that I would try. If you don't want to mix your own curry powder, I would suggest Bolsts, it is a really good one with a wonderful flavor and comes in Mild, Med. and hot......See MoreSavory/hearty "Hors d'oeuvre"
Comments (18)Your "Nothing that involves dishes/utensils to eat..." comment has me curious. You're not going to have any paper plates or anything? Unless you want people just standing over the food chowing down they're going to need at least a plate to put it on for most of these suggestions. Some could use some plastic forks too. Even a little sandwich could be messy without something although a napkin could work for some. What's the problem with a snack sized paper plate? Many of the suggestions I would give have been made, the other is essentially a good sandwich. Get some good hoagie rolls and make a meat and cheese sandwich. Be sure to put more than a slice of Buddig meat on them. Feed them boys! I'd put some coleslaw on the top too. I wouldn't mess with too many veggie toppings, especially if plates are prohibited. Other variations would be a wrap or rollup. Can use lefse or tortillas but in MN at this time of year some Swedish Sausage in lefse would likely be popular. Pulled pork sandwiches, mini burgers or not-too-sloppy joes would go over well too. For the "joes" they're a lot neater if served on hot dog buns or in a wrap of sorts (burrito style)....See MoreCindy_Mac
