Hello everyone!

We had a wonderful time in Tennessee. I got to see a completely different side of life in America. My friend is not taking very good care of herself but I think I managed to get her thinking about changing some things to improve her health. We will be staying in closer contact so maybe I can get those boots out to virtually kick some butt. Although I did not ride her (six) horses, I did look at them in her barn, and I actually "touched" one of her 6 dogs (that's a big deal for me - LMAO!). When I download DH's pictures, I'll send one along to Marci for our photo album.

Hi Guys! DeeMarie~ WOW! Great progress---that feels so good, doesn't it? Gretchen: Your DEX is a real prize! I'm happy you're able to keep your sense of humor with him! NHSuzanne~ Your lunch sounds fun. I'd love to go to lunch with a couple of friends. Think I'll pick up the phone and do some work on that! QOD: 1st choice: DisneyWorld in Florida 2nd choice: Kauai, HI. 3rd choice: Chicago I wanna go where it's WARM! Had my doc check up today. He said things are progressing normally, but I have to slow down my activities for up to a year. BAH! I really wasn't pleased to hear that-lol. My bady has to rebuild some lymph cells, build some 'cord' (don't ask!) scar tissue, and relearn how to process fluid and purge it without fluid retention in my abs. I haven't mentioned it, but after I do some strenuous exercise, lifting, or just run around a lot, my abs swell to a tight and uncomfortable size. I usually hang back a lot the next day, wear the body strangulator they gave me after surgery, and the pain goes away. But I wanted to know how long this would go on. I ain't used to sittin' in a chair, unless it's the driver's seat! I was planning on getting some good hiking in while in Alaska this summer, but I'll have to take it one hike at a time and see how it goes. Everything looks like it's on track though. Did I mention I am spending the summer in Alaska? I am. We're moving there and 'trying it out' for the summer. I'm searching for rental houses and a way to get my rig up there without haivng a financial meltdown---lol. I love the weather today---sunny, and a little chilly. I'm gonna go move some wood out of my driveway---had a tree removed and the guys stacked the cordwood in front of my garage. Not to worry, though, I bought a hand truck from Lowe's Hardware, so it shouldn't take too much energy to move it, one log at a time---S-L-O-W. The whole project will probably take me till the weekend though, as there is QUITE the stack out there. Here's another CUTE site! Check out the ex-boyfriend pj's. Donna - I have a lot of confidence that you will find some time to "play" next week, enjoy the time off! Besh - I agree, don't get frustrated, we have all been there and if you keep behaving it will only be a temporary gain. Suzanne - I love tarragon too, also rosemary. Dee - one of our closest friends is a dentist. I always ask him how it feels to have so many people afraid of you. He is one of the nicest men I know and I can only imagine that he is very gentle and compassionate as a dentist. He lives over an hour away or I would go to him. Marci - I have my gyn appointment in a couple of weeks - I dread it too, but necessary. How is DD doing (and you)? I can't wait to see DD#1 in a few weeks! Patti - if you are reading, we miss you, hope you are having fun being a grandma LOL. My MIL had been visiting since Sunday, she was suppose to leave on Sunday but became very bored and left today. I guess my BIL's house is more exciting (thank goodness). You can't even believe all the things we did with her and she is still bored. She had her hair done, we took her shopping, out on the boat, out to breakfast twice, out to lunch another day and out to dinner one night. DH went into work late so they could spend time together and 20 family members were with us Sunday and Monday. I wish I had time to get bored. QOD - No agenda and I hope it stays that way. I haven't had my house to myself since last Friday and it feels good to just be home. As much as I go out I am really a homebody at heart. Friends are coming up from FL tomorrow evening, so we will probably go boating if the weather permits. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Everyone! I've been MIA. My laptop died, got another one and managed to spill and entire cup of fresh coffee all over it, soaking the keyboard....talk about getting depressed. Really could not afford the laptop to begin with but hubby said it's our only real form of entertainment and he insisted. We don't have cable or satellite or antenna out here. I wanted to use an older laptop of his but apparently it's dying too. He's working on removing all data now before it shuts down for the last time. I left the laptop to dry for a couple of days....fired it up and the keyboard still did not work. Major depressive. So I hooked up a keyboard. I did not feel like talking much because the laptop was the icing on our financial cake...we're fine at the moment but still watching our pennies. It just got to us. Dave was even looking to spend a further $200 to get/replace the keyboard. I said no. I'll use the keyboard. Today I tried the laptop keyboard and it is working completely fine. It apparently needed more time to dry out. Thank you Toshiba for continuing to build better and better laptops! So I'm back. Emotionally it's been a rough week but I'm snapping out of it now. Dave just installed our first piece of kitchen yesterday - the sink unit with 3 drawers on the side. It's beautiful. 6 ft long with the second piece to be built as a mirrored image on the other side of the stove. First he's taking a break from cabinet making to make some storage shelves for his shop. It desperately needs to get stuff off the floor properly and room to sort his small stuff better. Safer working environment. It's late and I'll be off to bed in a few minutes. Tonight I watched Joan Crawford's 1945 Mildred Pierce online. WOW - what a great girly movie. I love black and white movies. She was fabulous in this movie. We're hitting a 5 day run of hot weather (by my standards) - 86F or 30C. Tomorrow morning I'll be watering my gardens and again in the evening. I don't care to lose my started tomatoes and peppers that are finally appearing. Socially this week has been very good. Finally got to spend decent time with our neighbour/friends across the road. They had us over a few times last summer/fall for proper dinners when we were living in the trailer. I was able to do something nice for Gail - I made her bedroom curtains which she loves. I was pretty pleased the way they turned out considering we went to a major charity shop and got a beautiful large silky looking table cloth in a purple/burgundy and a lavender/gray heavy curtain for the backing to add weight and keep the light out at night. We also had great girly time and got together here for a card night. Much needed. Very much needed. I'm back - I'm sure BJ will be back soon too! Still maintaining my weight, drinking water or heavily watered down ginger ale. I'm not nuts on pop, just bored with water sometimes. I only use part of a can. The rest goes back in the fridge for another day. Sweet dreams everyone - will be in touch tomorrow! LOL Peggy

I've got a million errands to run starting NOW, but had to find a few minutes to fill you in. Maddie is the sweetest person who goes along with anything and is soooooo geniune. I felt like I knew her my whole life, and missed her when I had to leave her. :-( OK, very top level rundown: Met at Central Park South (MIckey Mantle's restaurant, where we toasted to Raeanne, in particular, and the Diet Club) Maddie had Cosmopolitan (just like Sex in the City); and I had a boring Diet Coke & Malibu On to FAO Schwartz A dozen other high end stores (including Cartier!) St. Patrick's Catheral Rockefeller Plaza---tree, ice skaters, shopping, promanade Down fifth avenue through more stores Lord & Taylor spectacular decorations SACKS---OMG the window decorations to die for Past TImes Square (about 1 block away---it was rush hour) Empire STate Building---to the top. I'd forgotten how beautiful it was, as it was almost 40 years ago since I was there. We walked around the c-o-l-d top (picture Sleepless in Seattle!) where I tried to point out landmarks for Maddie, including where I live! We waited downstairs at 34th and 5th avenue for our "ride" back to her hotel---a white stretch limo. She was freaking out (Raeanne, you should have seen her face in the back of that----I took a picture of her)! I am absolutely serious when I tell you that more of us have to do this. It is a special gift to ourselves that we have to save and plan for. None of you will regret. I will never forget this special part of Christmas that I spent with Maddie. It DOESN'T MATTER WHERE WE GO--We are friends and just need to be in one room together exchanging stories and laughter just as we do here. Let's all think about it, and how we can get as many of us togheter as possible. That's it for now...gotta run.

Good Morning!!

Deemarie your trip sounds fabulous. Can't wait to see the pics. I love Tennessee. It is so pretty.

Well, DH won another trip to Hawaii. We have our choice, Hawaii or Cancun?? I am almost picking Cancun. Not sure yet.

I need a weight loss plan that is going to work for me. I have exercised with the Firm for 6 months now and I am still at the same weight I started. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Tikanis, Dee, Donna, Jen - what the heck is going on around here?

Dee - I have only been to Tennessee once but it was great - we were in Knoxville and rented a cabin in the woods - the cabin was actually bigger and more modern than the house we lived it at the time LOL. I'm glad you had a good time and will be keeping tabs on your friend.

Donna - Thanks for checking in but we need more info LOL.

Tikanis - I sent you an email last night.

Jen - I have been to Hawaii (Maui) once and Cancun 4 times and would take Maui over Cancun, however the trip to Cancun is so much quicker. I think it really depends on where you stay in Cancun. The people are wonderful and the beach is gorgeous. Let me know if you have a hotel name, I may be able to give you some input on it. I have been going to the trainer since February and didn't start losing weight until I started Carb Addicts in July. I have lost 13.5 lbs and find it very easy. I was careful with what I ate most of the time before I started the diet (mostly SS), but my weight never budged. I don't know why this one works for me, it just does and it is an easy diet for me to live with.

We are ready to hear from the rest of you MIA.

WOW, it's a party!

Come on people.....check in. If you bought Halloween candy early and ate half a bag, we need to hear from you. If you called for a pizza and downed 4 slices, come here for forgiveness. If you ordered wine with dinner (Raeanne? Suzanne?), that's OK!

We are meeting friends for dinner at The Macaroni Grill to celebrate a birthday. (I did not pick this place!) Trouble on the horizon unless I get myself an online menu and decide on low fat items before we go.

QOD: What are your plans for the weekend?

We hope to work on the house and then go to the Jets/New England game on Sunday afternoon.

Well why didn't you say there was a party going on here?? LOL

Seriously, I can't believe how long I have been MIA. I am okay just busy.

I had a wonderful camping trip; in fact, it was enchanting. The field was covered with second cut red clover and the Monarch and some other small yellow butterfly were just everywhere in the field. It was truly beautiful to watch them dance in the sun. The moon was full and rose in a big orange ball each evening and then gave way to soft light through the light. The kind of light I could look out of my trailer and see the girls sleeping in the grass...........wonderful. The true topper this year was the performance of bluebirds who visited our camp in masses of 12-20 at a time. No kidding, I have never seen anything like it. They would come and sit on the horse fencing and sing and flirt. It was truly amazing........if only I could have gotten a photograph. They must be gathering for migration as the butterflies are.

The horses were energetic as it was cool and we had some wonderful miles long cantors and trots! It was so nice and I had so much fun.

The weekend almost ended in disaster as we were walking the horses down to the sandy brook for a cooling off Sweet Pea fell down and landed on her side. She was really struggling and I did not know what had happened or how to help her. Suddenly, she laid still and righted herself and got herself up. When she was safe investigated and she had fallen into a bottomless hole which was no doubt a woodchuck's hole. These are the holes that snap horses legs in two. I was almost nauseaous when I looked down into that hole. She had some swelling her fetlock but she was fine the next day. I shudder to think of what had happened if I had been riding her when that happened. Ugh, perish the thought!

Anyway, she was fine and the weekend was wonderful.

You all are right, it's very quiet here!! SO, where is everyone????

Not much else new here - just work, work, work.

DeeMarie, I am SO DISAPPOINTED that you don't have a photo of you on or at least NEAR a horse. You didn't even touch one????? Glad you had fun.

No Suzanne, I did not touch a horse, but I DID watch them from a window about 100 yards away....does that count? LMAO!!!!!

Good Evening All,

I am back from wedding bliss! The wedding was just wonderful. The weather could not have been more perfect and everything ran pretty smoothly. Ofcourse there were a few glitches, but anyone attending would not have known. It is such a let down now that it is over, like the day after Christmas, only worse. I will post some pictures when we get them back from the photographer, but I will try to post a picture here that I took of my DH and two DS at the house getting ready. They all looked so handsome that day.

I will post again later, but I just wanted to say hello and I have missed you all.
