Last 15 months: Dec 2003- Went ot Alaska for Christmas w/ my family, first time in 15 years. Wonderful. January 2004 - DH decided he needed to separate and went looking for a place of his own. I received emails, cards and support from my SS sisters and DH & I went to counseling and started some work. May 2004 - My yearly visit with my Kentucky family and MADDIE! Loved it and LOVE her. Spring 2004 - Exchanged a series of emails with DeeMarie and we learned a lot about each other. Very fun and lovely conversations. Beautiful person, she is. June 2004 - Surrendered my dog to keep my husband. Painful but necessary. Again, lots of support from here. Summer 2004 - Spent living in Alaska. Drove up and down the state and had a killer time. Loved it but was happy when I got home in the fall, then I got homesick for Alaska - lol. September 2004 - Went to NY and met Raeanne and her DH- visit too short and had TOO much fun! The people are so fantastic that we're thinking of moving to that coast in a few years! Scoping weather and property now. DH started 2nd year of law school - only 1 more to go after this. I started back to college to finish a degree I started many years ago. All children in school. Dec 2004 - Had DH's family here for holidays. So stressful, DH blew a gasket and almost left again. Back to counseling...and deal making. Lots better now that family's gone. January - Signed up for another college load; continuing to work toward that piece of paper I want. Becoming aware that time flies when you don't have any. Signed up at WW Core Program. Determined to lose weight and be healthy. Still here, after many years and still checking in really regularly. Planning a trip to east coast in March to scout a place to live when we finally move. KYSusie~ Good to hear from you. Keep on truckin' toward wellness. Good evening, everyone! BJ, I have to ask: does your boss chase you around the desk? LOL Raeanne, welcome back to reality! I overheard a woman at Curves this morning talk about how she's dropped a clothes size since using the Wii Fitness stuff. Keep up the good work! QOD: I just roll out of the bed in the mornings and dress for working out. I don't let myself think otherwise! (There are some exceptions to going straight to Curves though.) I know that it's the best way for me to lose weight and sizes. I had a dr.'s appt. this morning (first thing) to go over my lab results. My numbers weren't too terribly bad after all, but I have a ways to go yet. My dr. was very pleased that I'm doing Curves and TOPS though, so he didn't fuss about my weight today. He's really supportive which is so nice. BJ, I always wear some kind of red hat to the get-togethers. I have a red straw hat and purse, a red felt cowgirl hat, a dressy felt hat, a baseball cap with a Red Hat woman sewn on it, and a sun visor with whatever I think of to put on it. We have to wear some kind of hat to the events, but I can't wait to take them off because I just don't like wearing them! But, I do enjoy mixing and mingling with the members, so it's worth it. My 2 DGDs are coming over Saturday morning for the weekend. They haven't been here since Christmas, and they want to see their Papa and Lucky (doggy). We'll drive them home Sunday afternoon and do some "big-city" shopping while over there. One quick brag: I weighed in 8.7 pounds less at my TOPS meeting on Wednesday. That's two weeks worth of weight loss, but I was so shocked and happy. I'm also back to cooking and eating healthy, so I guess it's working. I'm working on Patti's birthday card this evening. Thanks, I knew you guys would help. The odd thing is, I know better. I feel like I got pulled in in a way I didn't expect. Besh, your comment about the anger was helpful. If I sounded angry to you, then I'm sure I did to him, too, and I wasn't really angry, just feeling desperate and scared and hurt and sad. I thought if I'm not as angry as I sound, he probably isn't either, and that helped to think of that. Email is hard, too, or private messaging, as there are only the words, and they almost always sound harsher than they are meant or felt by the other person. Dee, your metaphor helps,too. I used to have an guided visualization audiotape where I was guided through giving up carrying around my own rocks. Now here I am picking up someone elses, and they are some rocks, believe me! To look at them and give them back is a good way to think of it. Actually, maybe I'll look at them and ask him if he wants to give them to the angels to carry away for us. In any case, I don't have to drag them around. I hate losing people I love, we all do, and things got hard recently. He feels so trapped. But I was thinking it's not like he is harassing or threatening me, so I don't think I should have to get away from him if I can just get my own feelings back under control. Marci, that's great about your colonoscopy results. I'm happy for you that you don't have to go through anything difficult there. We had the remains of Tropical Storm Daniel pass by here today, but it was refreshing, nothing damaging. Did I tell you I had mice? About three months ago, two or three came in and I didn't want to kill them. After procrastinating and watching one litter be born, I had my home helper buy me a live trap, but it turned out to be a rat trap, and they just climbed out through the holes. I ordered a Havahart live mouse trap from the net and just got it a couple of days ago. So far, I have relocated 16 mice to a field several blocks away, and there are still about 5 to go. Those things breed like crazy. They look like pet mice though - not just gray, but some white, one kind of a silver cream, some black and white spotted. They are very cute.:) gretl, I hope things go well with your DD, Hi, Wild Chicken if you get by, and Maddie and Patty and Raeanne John and others. Hi goils! Besh--your MIL is in my thoughts and prayers---(((hugs)))!! How is Happyto? I was thinking about her a while back, and was hoping that things were good for her-- Tikanas--happy belated birthday! :):) Well, I got the auction--I signed it on Monday, and have a good chance to maybe get the real estate--it's been rezoned as commercial, so it would be a goooood thing for me--and I'd appreciate any and all good thoughts for me to get this--it can literally change my life-- Things are good here--the weather is great--I can't believe it's this nice--78, and low humidity. Raeanne--since you liked my sticky chicken mishap, I think you'll enjoy this one--I decided in June to enter a cake in the KY State Fair (which started here on Thurs). So I sent off the $, got the rules, and waited until last Sunday morning to make the cake (it was due by Mon at 5pm, but I had to work...). Let me preface all of this by saying that I have never made this cake before--I found the recipe in a box of stuff that I bought at an auction(now, **that's** a surprise!), and so therefore had no idea just what I was walking into. On Sat night, after getting out of the bath, with wet hair and no makeup, I realize that I need a bottle of bourbon--well, actually, just 2 tablespoons. So, off the the liquor store I go, and find an airplane bottle of Maker's Mark, and then realize that I have no cash. So, I charged $2.50. I was sooo embarrassed. Anyway, I got up at 6am on Sun morning to preheat the oven, and off I go. I'm just a mixin and a stirin, and raisin all sorts of h3ll, and I pour the batter into 3 brand-new 9" pans, and they go into to the over for 45 minute. DING! They're done--whhoooboy--they are done--burned on the bottom, that is. I'm standing in the middle of the kitchen, hot, tired, and just bawling. I was just so mad--and I had a raging case of PMS to top it all of, and poor ol Rog--didn't know whether to hug or to laugh. He wisely chose to hug, and then told me that we can cut the botteom of the layers off, and noone would ever know (true.) So that was our plan. Now--to top all of this off, the entry department opened at noon, and I was supposed to be at work at an auction at noon, so I had to keep an eye on the time. I made the frosting following the directions, and dumped into way to much powdered sugar, which gave it that funny, sugar-y taste, so then I added more bananas, which changed the texture. THEN--my cat decided to love me as I was dropping in the yellow food coloring (did I mention that this is a banana cake?), which made my icing look like a horrible mustard color (made worse by the fact that it had lumpy stuff like toasted coconut and chopped pecans in it), only sicker. What a freaking mess---I wanted to throw the d@mned thing aqgainst the wall, but managed to refrain. I iced it, and it is sitting on my countertop, glowing like a d@mned lighthouse. Sigh..... Anyhoo--I hope all is well with everyone--and where is Amy and John??? Hugs, Maddie

Good afternoon!

Wow, what a nice surprise - birthday card, and greetings, and singing, and wine and cheese! Thanks so much for the nice thoughts! I turned 60 today - this seems like a big one! I'm happy to be here, though, wrinkles and all!

Not much planned, except my husband is taking me out to dinner tonight, which is nice. I'm headed out of town tomorrow to spend a few days with my mom and sisters, so that will be fun, too.

Enough about me. Maddie, way to go on your grades! Smartie! You should be so proud of yourself!

Can I join your diet club? I know that sounds a little shy, but I am a stranger here. I am normally in Home Decorating and have been for a couple years, my passion.

Now my other passion seems to be food, I can't get enough of it. If I watch the food network I almost want to lick the screen. (lol)

If I could lose twenty pounds I would be happy, but it might as well be a thousand. And I hate to excerize, see I can't even spell it. (lol again)

At any rate, would you tell me about your club and how it works.

Happy 6 0 Wodka! It sounds like you have some celebrating lined up for yourself. So glad that you joined us and stuck around - you are missed when you are MIA.

Jane - by all means join us - the more the merrier and we can always use some a newbie to get us all motivated. We are here for you to share the good, the bad and the ugly.

Good morning!

My brother will be here in 4 hours to pick me up and I haven't even packed yet.

Jane, welcome! When I get back next week, I need to refocus on losing some last stubborn pounds, so maybe we can help each other. Since my WW meetings stopped, I have tried, but not hard, to at least maintain my loss of 60 pounds, but I've wavered a bit, not big time, but about 4 pounds gained. So, I need to refocus, even in this hellish heat, and increase my walking and food journal entries. Ivamae is a great example of discipline and being accountable, so look for her posts and others.

Last night I was already in bed, and my neighbors called and said they had a surprise - a plateful of still warm, walnut/chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies. They came over and sang happy birthday to me, even their 15 year old son. It made my day. I love having good neighbors. (And no, I didn't enter the cookies in my journal - I was exempt yesterday - ha.)

Better get busy. I do feel better when I visit here, so hope to "see" y'all next week. Have a great week and weekend. Stay cool. We had another heat fatality here yesterday.

Belated Happy Birthday, Woodka.

I hope you have a nice few days holidays.

Jane, I haven't been here too long either but it is a great place and lots of encouragement. I'm also trying to get weight off although I have prety much met my goal. Now I'm trying to take another 5 pounds off for some wiggle room. So far lost 1 pound for that and then gained it back and it is stuck like glue. To-day is my weigh in day and it stayed the same as last week. At least it didn't go up beyond that.I had gained 1 pound last week.

I made a ledge to myself awhile ago to make some chemo caps and took a few in yesterday. I wanted some advice on yarn, size, etc and was pleased with suggestions that I got. Sure don't ned them now wih these temps but will in a few short months. If I succeed, I will try to post a picture. Photo bucket and I don't always get along all that well.

Hello all!

First of all, Happy Birthday Jan! You are as young as you feel, and I am sure you feel great after your major weight loss! Sorry I am a day late, but let the party continue!! Your neighbors sound wonderful, and yes it is good to have nice neighbors....I have some that are very nice and then I have one house that I look at everyday, that they absolutely s*ck!! So consider yourself blessed!

A belated thank you to all of you for my birthday wishes. I don't think I have been on here since, so thank you. As always, it is nice to be loved!!!!

DH and I have been on vacation for the past 2 weeks. He had 2 weeks, I had 1 week, but Wed to Wed. We went to VA to visit DS and DIL. It was wonderful as always, but HOT! 107 degrees during the day and 98 at night. Yikes! I don't know how you Southern Belles do it! I got stung by a jelly fish, kind of freaked me out a bit, but it was fine, just itchy. My younger DS reminded me later that someone should have peed on me, but nobody offered! LOL

Maddie, congratulations on your tests! You go! I am so proud of you! It is nice that George is keeping tabs on you.

Jane welcome! There is no real way this thread works. We all just come here to share stories, weight loss and gains and just lend each other support in our daily lives. Some of us have been here for over 10 years! (Can you believe that ladies?) Some of us have met in person. I for one have strayed away from here (like recently), but always come back and I always know I have friends here. So welcome....please feel free to post whatever you are thinking and would like to share. And, I am a decorator too. I love it, even though it makes everyone else in my house crazy at times!

Speaking of gains, I went back to WW last night. Gained 4# on vacation. Whatever, today is a new day!

Ivamae, love the hats - especially the turquoise with the flower on it? I lost my sister to cancer, hers was fast, so she never even had a chance for the hats, but yours will provide so much comfort to people like her, going through a difficult time.

Happy WEDNESDAY!

Looks like we had a nice turnout for the party. I really enjoyed the wine.

Wanted to work from home yesterday and today but I was drawn into some drama and too many meetings, so I'm in the office. Tomorrow I'll work from home, and by early Friday morning I will be off to NC with my sister and my youngest niece for a girls only vacation. Looking forward to it.

Good morning and Happy Thursday!

Also "Happy Birthday, dear Jan"!!! Sorry I missed the festivities but I was out of town, and yesterday was full of unloading my car again.

Jane, welcome! This is the best place to post about weight issues and anything else. I've been coming here off and on for almost 11 years.

I finally moved the last of my personal items from the house, and it's either in the storage locker in Crosby or up here, but still in my car or out in the garage. I hate that I'm such a pack-rat and a sentimental fool!

Maddie, I just couldn't be prouder of you if I was your own mom! Way to go, girl!

Dee, hope the workout wasn't too bad after the month off.

Donna, good to see you posting!

Suzanne, Raeanne, & Marci, always nice seeing y'all here!

It's been in the 100's here lately, and it will continue that way through the next week. I get everything outside done early then stay inside and enjoy the a/c!

Finally have a cast iron skillet after all these years of pining for one so that I could make fritattas using the recipe that Patti's Dave posted way back when. That's on the calendar for this weekend. Can't wait!

I am off this afternoon for a long weekend in Nantucket on the big boat! Our annual never, never land trip. I love it and the weather is supposed to be really nice and cooler than it has been.

Donna - How are those puppies doing?

Hi Raeanne and Besh and anyone I missed.

We are having a garage sale this weekend and DH is out getting us some extra tables. I really didn't want to participate this year, but DH convinced me we had enough stuff to make it worth our time. I have things gathered, but need to start pricing and organizing. The weather looks good, so hopefully we will get the crowds.

Does anyone have Tikanas' email just in case she doesn't see this?

Hey BJ - if you are lurking, this is a warning. My daughter, Danielle is on your rock and she is armed with your phone numbers LOL. She has a reunion party tonight, the rehearsal dinner tomorrow and wedding Saturday, so she may be too busy to get into too much trouble LOL. Just be on the look out for mini-me.

Marci - sounds like you are still surviving DH's retirement LOL. It is always good when you post - makes me feel like the good old days.

Suzanne - I know I have said this before, but will your FIL adopt me? Enjoy your trip to Nantucket - you have been to 2 of my favorite places - Bar Harbor and Nantucket.

Dee - it seems like I am always wishing you a bon voyage! I know you work really hard when you work, but you play really hard too LOL.

I had some family staying with us a few days and things are crazy at work, that is all that is new in my world.
