Weekly Weigh-in, Week of 8/2/09

Hello, everybody.

The results for last week are as follows:

Harold - Weight 209, lost 2, total lost 66

Silver - DNWI, lawn work

Eklektos - DNWI, migraine

Jasmi- Weight 134.6, lost 1.4, total lost 13.4. Losing weight so fast she thinks her scale battery is dying.

Betty- Weight 159, lost 0, total lost 21

Helen- Weight 162.2, lost 2.2, total lost 37.8. Good job.

Ivamae- Weight 183, lost 4, total lost 9. That's getting off to a good start.

My results for this week:

Weight 207, lost 2, total lost 68

Average Calories - Food 1878, Exercise 427

Weight 159.6, lost 2.6, total lost 40.4.

I did good this week. Lots of wonderful fresh vegetables to eat, and very little fat or meat.

Harold, again you are my hero. You are doing so wonderfully. You keep on keeping on dear man.

Good morning!!!
I'm at 131... bouncing back and forth, eating a lot of pizza and tacos... the food of the working woman!
Hopefully this will be done soon, I'm seriously exhausted, would like to get back into exercising and bike riding and eating more healthy.

Am still happy with the pounds, but do want my thighs to get more toned!

Good Job Helen!!! Congratulations!

Harold, glad to hear the surgery went well. Recovery is pretty quick, isn't it? Don't strain your eyes while you wait. I had LASIK about 9 years ago and remember having to be very careful for a few days not to get poked in the eye or anything, wearing sunglasses even inside for the first day or two. Silversword! You are just rockin', girlfriend! I am amazed at you. 129--one TWENTY nine! Woo-hoo! Here's something some of you might be interested in. There's a site at www.weightview.com where you can upload a photo of yourself (in somewhat form-fitting clothes) and plug in your current and goal weights. Then they will adjust the photo to give you an idea of what you'll look like at your goal weight. It's free, but you have to have a Facebook account to log in to their FB page where they will post your altered photo for you. (They don't post your weight or any info about you, and even though there is a weigh-loss community there you can join, you don't have to do it.) I did it today (it's totally free) and got my photo a few hours later. Of course, I don't know how accurate it is, but if it is on target, then I might want to drop my goal weight a little more. I don't know. My body type is really weird. I wonder if I'll ever really be happy with my end results. I doubt I'll ever look sleek or svelte, always "matronly." I stepped on the scale this morning early since I was up and waiting for the coffe maker to finish gurgling that delicious brown liquid of life and I had a lovely loss. I am not telling how much, but it is really a nice one. (Hugging myself here and grinning like the Cheshire Cat !!) We attended the funeral and it was huge. There were so many people that they had to park on the lawn surrounding the funeral home and on down the street. The chapel was filled and lots of folks standing. This boy was truly loved by one and all. The boys parents (divorced) hugged each other for the first time in years. Everyone came together in a bond of love for one another and for the boy that died. It was a beautiful service and the day was beautiful as well. Sunshine and 85Âº and big billowy clouds in the sky and a breeze blowing. Perfect weather for a perfect send off. Helen

Hi everyone!!! I didn't step on the scale this morning...oops. Will do it when I get home. But just wanted to say good morning to you all! Still not back on my diet, or exercise regime. But worked in the yard for 12 hours on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. Yes, we finished at 10pm on Sunday...had the spotlights out and everything! I figure pushing a wheelbarrow full of concrete for two hours should be better calorie burning than anything else I could do!! Will weigh tonight :) Skinny (goal-jeans) are still able to be zipped and buttoned but are not comfortable. Still want to target my hips/thighs area. But, all other clothes are fitting great, which I feel is the real testimony to weight loss rather than the actual poundage. Also, many are recognizing my weight loss. And they want to know my secret... LOL! 1. Eat fewer calories (not less food!!!) 2. Burn more calories Of course, it can't be that simple, but it is. One of my office mates started her low-carb diet at the same time, but does not exercise very much, and deprives herself of food so is hungry and binges. Also, does not count calories... hmmm... six months later, she's still the same weight. She offered me her low-carb cookbook, but with recipes in there that call for six tablespoons of butter I declined. :)

Good Evening, I've had a busy day today. I did weigh this morning, but it isn't pretty. We'll discuss that later. Way To Go, Ivamae!! WOO HOO!! Congrats on the silver scale award. Keep up the good work. Harold, Great Job on those 2 pounds. You just keep knocking them off. I'm so proud of you. I know you will have a great time at your family reunion. Looking forward to your pics. Even though I had terrible numbers this week, I was downloading/uploading ( I'm so computer dumb I'm not sure which you call it) pics from my camera to my computer today and there was one of me holding the newest Grandson. I could see that I had lost weight. I think that may give me the incentive to get back in the swing and finish what I started. Ek, I wish you good health and safety while you are gone. You can tell us all about it when you get back. Jas, You just gave me an excuse for my bad numbers this week!! I had a very bad 'charlie horse' in my calf muscle day before yesterday morning. So bad that it woke me from a deep sleep hurting like crazy. So, I know I'm low on potassium. I couldn't keep that excess weight at bay!!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! LOL Helen, I saved you for last because we were so close in our weight. You are doing so well and I'm proud of you. But, I think you need to give me a stern talking to. Not only did I not lose any weight this week, but I gained a significant amount. It is one thing to just hit a plateau for a week or 2, but I've been eating the wrong things all week and the scales show it. Last week I fell off of the wagon with chocolate ice cream several times. Then, friday I had chinese for lunch with my daughter. Then my son decided that night when we went school-clothes shopping that he wanted to eat chinese. So, Chubby-Butt here ate it TWO TIMES IN ONE DAY!!!! Saturday was a baby shower at 2pm (various snacks, a chocolate bon-bon AND a slice of cake)and an anniversary party at 7pm ( dinner AND a slice of coconut pie). OK, I've put it off as long as I can. My weight this morning: 163 pounds. If there was a 'broken scale award' I would win it this week. Betty

Congrats Harold and Helen for losing some more weight this week.
Silver, Glad to see you reporting on the thread again .You have always been an inspiration for me. It is nice that you are still able to keep your weight down to 131 after all that Pizza eating ( Pizza is a killer for me !!!!!).

Coming to weigh in , I am doing walk of shame this week. I was 136 this morning. I am 1000% sure this is not water retention. This is all the fat calories I have been adding up with my unhealthy choices from the last couple of weeks. Lesson Learned. Will be a good gal this week . I hate to see my weight in upper 130s after seeing 133.6 early this week.:-((((((

I hope rest of the people have lost some weight too ..

Weight this mroning 180 pounds. I lost 3 this past week.

Total lost 12 pounds

I'm shocked at how much food is in 1200 calories

Good Morning,

Sorry to be MIA so much lately. So busy. I Have a new Grandson that was born on July 23rd. Can't remember if I've told y'all or not. I'm on my way out the door to take them back to the Dr. this morning.

DH's aunt is VERY labor intensive and demands that I sit and talk with her every moment I'm not cooking, cleaning, doing laundry. She wants to eat constantly, so I'm cooking and serving a lot. It's hard to have any time for myself.

Thankfully, I've still managed to hold on to the weight loss, but no further downward progress. Some days I give in to temptation and make bad choices. I still do well at home. Temptation usually gets too strong when I go out for Chinese. My favorite.

The stress of never having any quiet time to renew myself is getting to me. I'm having a pretty serious bout with shingles right now. Had to go to the Dr and get some medication for it, but it is slow kicking in. I think I will look into a daycare program for her so our family can have a break. Right now her money (and ours trying to keep her fed!)is tight so there's not any money to pay for help. Keep me in your prayers.

This week: Still holding on at 159 pounds. Hoping to carve out some ME time soon.

I'm so happy and proud at everyone's numbers. Keep up the good work. It is encouraging to me.

Helen, We are right together now. I think I will just determine to try to keep up with you. You will have to "Pull" me along with you!! LOL

House guests are gone. Mild headaches linger from last week's horrendous migraine. I haven't exercised at all.

I'm up again to 138.5. I'm not surprised at the pound gain.

Several of you are just doing great. Keep up the good work! You have every reason to be encouraged.

Back to work.
