Hi! I will be starting hCG injections this Thursday, June 19th. Does anyone want to buddy up for support? Let me know!:)

Great! I'm on Day 9, and at my weekly weigh in, lost 3lbs. I'm doing the 1000 calorie diet instead of the 500. At my most recent visit, I also got phentermine, so I'm hoping that will curb my appetite tremedously and can't wait for the next weigh in. Do you guys self-inject or go to the clinic? I go to a clinic everyday (except Sunday). How have your experiences been with hcg?? So far, I have no complaints, but won't say anything until I give it a chance for about a month or so. I'm a first time HCG dieter, on day 18 of the VLCD. I started at 173 pounds. Today I'm 158 pounds. I'm going to stop taking the HCG at the end of the month or when I get back to 150, whichever comes first. I've been 150 most of my adult life, but I gained weight last year after my father died. I went into a depression, stopped exercising, and stopped caring about eating a balanced diet. For the long term, I feel confident that I'll fall back into my old habits of good nutrition and regular exercise, but I was wondering about the transition of going from 500 calories to a more reasonable caloric intake of a healthy active adult. I'm 5'8", 36 years old, with no health problems.
What's everyone eating during the 3 weeks immediately following the VLCD? Dr. Simeon's book says you can eat anything except sugar and starch, but I'm worried about putting the weight back on if I eat too much right away.

I also wanted to add my impression of the diet so far as an objective first-timer. Before starting the diet, I was seriously skeptical when reading all the claims on various forums. Now that I've experienced it for myself, I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their great experiences. I probably wouldn't have tried HCG if I hadn't found numerous positive experiences on countless threads. If you're reading this and still wondering if HCG actually works, I can tell you it's worked great for me. I'm not hungry, and I've had no problem staying on the diet. My disabled mother lives with me and regularly bakes fatty, sugary concoctions. I'm surprised to say that it's been easy to turn away from the cakes, pastries, casseroles, and fried foods. I'm not sure why. I've had no cravings after the first four days. I'm so excited to get the weight off, that I probably wouldn't cheat even if I had the cravings.

Just moved to Colorado Springs from Parker. Both places I planted xeriscape, all grew so quickly it took me by surprise. Raspberries have been great too. This spring I am redoing the back yard which is half shade due to huge/old trees, a new challenge. Thanks to all of you for the heads up on plantings which work, some I have not used....fun to look for and try this spring. One thing I will caution on is buying decidious trees from the two tree nurseries off of Parker Rd. I bought 3 15' trees, one died and the other lost half it's life. They replace, but charge you the replanting fee which is half the cost of the tree itself. And try not to buy them in Spring....the year warranty ending in spring will not tell you if they made it through the year. Trees planted won't bud til later...which is usually after the warranty. All of you may hate this, but my successful trees have been from Lowes at 20/30 a piece. For some reason they are just happy growers and I'm pretty sure they don't grow them locally. I love Red Buds, have continued to try them but they either don't make it or become a bush from my cutting off dead branches. Think it is a gamble and one I keep playing. There are Red Buds in Cherry Creek shopping area which have done well, planted about 2 feet from store fronts. Maybe they need the warmth and shelter of the buildings. Any suggestion for success would be welcomed.

David, I paged thru their whole catalog again last nite, and I was reading the sweet potato descriptions, and very much tempted! They explain how your zone doesn't matter, it's the "heat units" that count! Digit should like that! Even with enough heat, tho, I wouldn't possibly have enough room for them! Oh, for a big old plantation like some of you guys have!!! Chickens and turkeys and geese! Oh, my! Based on my seed order, I'm not at all surprised to hear that people are happy with their poultry! They have an incredible selection, and even if I could raise chickens, I don't have a CLUE how I'd pick out just one or two kinds! When I was a kid we had just plain old white chickens that laid plain old white eggs! (Back then, brown eggs were cheaper! My, how times have changed!) I don't know what they were! They were CHICKENS! Maybe leghorns! I was always scared of the roosters, and hated when I had to try to get the eggs out from under a "cluck," which is what my parents/grandparents called a hen that decided she was gonna sit on and PROTECT and try to hatch her eggs! SCAT little kid! You can't have my eggs! Peck, peck, peck! Their tomato selection is almost unbelievable, and the main reason why I decided to order from them---they had three of the yellow/orange varieties I was considering. There are pages and pages and pages of tomatoes. Very brief descriptions, so you need to go to Tatiana's or somewhere for more info, but, boy, do they ever have a lot of varieties. They list them by color/type, and check this out! 257 Red 107 Pink 62 Yellow/gold 13 White/cream (didn't even know there was such a thing!) 10 Green 6 "Keeping" 33 Black - Gray - Bronze 5 Stuffing 44 Paste 69 Cherry/salad They have over 600 varieties! Where are you, Plantation, when I really need you! For those that aren't familiar with the company and like OP and OG seed, all of their seed is open pollinated, and much of it is certified organic now and all will be in the future, and none of their seeds are chemically treated. Sounds crazy, but I can hardly wait to order from them next year---and, yes, I will be ordering earlier next year! This year I finally got the order done and sent in on the 7th, and I got it on the 28th, so 21 days---which I guess really isn't that bad for a small company and snail mail both ways! Bonnie, I only got 18 of the watermelon seeds, and I want to keep a few of them--I don't know for what!--but I was considering giving 4 or 5 away to a couple people on the swap thread! If you'd like enough for one "hill," I'll put you down for dibs on my keepin'-track list! Wish I was coming by your way this September so I could get a taste of one of them! If I give you a few of the Harris Model parsnip seeds, will you plant them somewhere? If you and the kids like sweet potatoes, you'll like them. They're great with pot roast! Anyone here doing Atkins?

Hi, I'm still here and still following Atkins. I have lost 15 pounds in just about 6 months, but my husband and I ate out last week and I saw a pound or so come back after that. It's always dangerous to eat out, I find. I'm at about 40g carbs daily (total--I'm doing Atkins '92, which does not subtract fiber), and I think that is close to my critical carbohydrate level for losing. As long as I stick to plan, I stay in ketosis and my hunger is well suppressed, so that I don't overeat. I generally eat about 1300 calories per day. I still have quite a few pounds that I need to lose, but I am looking at this as a total lifestyle change. I imagine it will take me a complete year or more to lose all the weight I have set for my goal. I started at 152, was 137 at my lowest--probably 138 right now due to the date night--and my goal is, I think, 119. We'll see as I get closer to that. I am a 5'2.5" tall, 40 year old woman. I'd love to have an Atkins buddy on this forum. So far, I haven't come across anyone else following this way of eating. I imagine an allergy to eggs would make things difficult, but you can do other proteins and fats, right? Best wishes to you. I hope to see you here often.

Hi Maddie~ Glad you checked in, but what a bad situation. Take care--and MOVE out of there. If the cops suspect a meth lab, they likely would have cleared the building immediately. Meth labs are extrememly toxic and smell like cat urine and chemicals---you can tell if there is a meth lab operating. The smell is really (chemically) OUT OF THIS WORLD. Along with the smell, meth labs generate an emormous amount of garbage---bottles and bags of chemicals, used tubing, and LOTS of small boxes of cold medicines. Are their windows covered 24/7? Can you check with the landlord to see if they pay rent in cash only? Are there visitors all night? If you and your neighbors really believe there is a meth lab operation, you should get license plate numbers of their visitors, call the police, and then MOVE OUT. If that place is a meth lab, you will be forced to move anyway! If law enforcement busts a lab, they evacuate the building until the haz-mat process is over and the apartment is cleaned, inspected, and repainted. It's a LONG and expensive process. They might just be smoking and selling crack, which is really as bad and dangerous for the residents of the building, due to the rise in crime associated with crack use, and the acrid odors and weird people you have to deal with. For your own safety, peace of mind, and sanity...MOVE...asap. We love you.

on day 2 of loading. new to the hcg diet and hoping this works. still not sure about the amount of veggies that i can have. i do have all my meat pre weighed at 3.5-4 oz per serving and i understand the fruit but in order to get 500 cal. a day what about veggies. if 1 cup of lettuce = 8 cal. is it ok to have 4 cups =28 cal with lunch?

here is and example of my first meal starting tomorrow
10 hcg drops and black coffee for breakfast

10 hcg drops and 3.4 oz of chicken, 1 lg apple, 6 cups lettuce all of this =250 cal

10 hcg drops and 3.5 oz of shrimp, 1 lg cucumber, 20 med strawberries this all = 250 cal

brings my total for the day to 500 cal

does this sound ok for this diet?

any comments and/or suggestions would be very much appreciated

i want to do well and just need a little advice
