When I was in college, I was an RA year-round so I moved in May, once more in the summer, then again in September. Got really tired of hauling all my stuff around by the armload. I won't let go of my books (except the guilty pleasures, like airline novels) but I did decide to consolidate my collection of several hundred CDs by putting them in binders. I removed the CD and insert from the jewel case and put them together in the binder pockets. I worked on this project in my dorm room with the metal trash can several feet away. I was on a long distance call with my DH (who was just a friend at the time). Every time I tossed a jewel case into the trash can, it made a loud metallic sound. Eventually DH said, "What's all that noise?" I said, "I'm throwing away my CD cases." He was absolutely appalled. We argued about it for awhile and he finally had to hang up because he couldn't listen to the sound of me getting rid of the jewel cases! Of course, he also couldn't give me a good reason NOT to get rid of them. His argument was, "But they BELONG in the jewel cases!" So needless to say, I married a packrat. We are somewhat ashamed owners of several hundred DVDs. It took me awhile to understand the DVD obesession, but now I'm just as bad. Here's the reasoning: -DVDs can usually be had for about $15 - the cost of two movie tickets not including soda and popcorn -DVDs are now released so quickly following the theater releases that by the time we realize we're interested in seeing a movie, it's already out on DVD -We can watch them on our own schedule without worrying about waiting in line or arriving before tickets sell out -We have a very large, fancy TV with a fancy sound system and a very comfortable living room, so that watching DVDs at home is not dissimilar from seeing films at the theater. And he spent all this money on his fancy TV; I don't even like the idea of spending time/money to go to the theater when we already spent the money for a home theater -We do watch many DVDs repeatedly - though admittedly, only a small percentage (maybe 20%) of our total collection gets watched more than once. We do get rid of movies we really hated (like "Random Hearts"...ugh!) by passing them off on unsuspecting friends, but that doesn't happen very often -Our future child will have a fine collection of children's movies since our tastes seem to run to the...well, juvenile. We don't have kids yet but Finding Nemo gets watched so frequently that we just keep it next to the DVD player instead of in the storage shelves. So anyway...that's how it's easy to justify being a DVD junkie. Now...if only I can convince DH to get rid of the birthday cards from his 14th birthday, we'd be closer to a happy equilibrium. :) By the way, although I love having the DVDs, I don't like having them exposed. We purchased the cabinets I linked to below. Only we paid $17.99 each on clearance at our local Target - I can't believe Target.com is selling them for $90! We have the PB Logan in black and love it. The quality has been just fine actually. I was a bit worried but at the time, we really had no other option. We had just bought our 55" TV (or should I say DH's 55" TV. LOL!) three weeks before Hurricane Katrina hit and bought just a console for the bottom which arrived a week before the storm hit. Thank goodness. We came back to find that we'd had about 22" of water. That piece that came a week before the storm saved the new TV! Well, we had to refurnish our whole house and I decided I wanted more storage and a bigger piece. I looked at every furniture store in New Orleans for something to house a 55" TV. Everything (at the time) was made for a 50" TV but stopped just short of the dimensions of our TV. But the PB Logan fit the bill. We love it. It's a very nice piece. It's sturdy and has yet to get a scratch or anything on it and we do rotate our TV a bit sometimes. Hope that helps a bit!

We have one 36" pantry with 2 deep drawers + silverware drawer on the bottom (it's right next to our table) and 3 pull outs + 2 fixed shelves on top. The 3 pull outs hold canned and jarred items, the bottom fixed shelf holds cereal boxes and the top fixed shelf holds extra paper towels and extra boxes of wrap. I love the pull outs because no reach in space is needed between shelves--items can be piled high. The spacing of the pull outs is adjustable (like adjustable shelves.) The drawers are useful for holding bagged and smaller light weight items. The bottom deep drawer holds boxes and bags of pasta and the upper deep drawer holds bags of snack bottoms + misc small items such as granola bars, craisins, etc. We also have a 24" wide pantry with 2 pull outs on the bottom, a shallow drawer, and then 3 pull outs, 2 fixed shelves, and a fixed shelf with vertical dividers at the top. We use this one for our baking center. The bottom pull outs in the bakery counter gives me a convenient place to put small appliances. Before we added the extra fixed shelf with vertical dividers: My thing when designing the kitchen was flexibility. It was nice being able to reconfigure the baking pantry by putting in the extra shelf with verticals. I wouldn't want a large cabinet with a lot of small spaces that I'm stuck with forever more (i.e. the rev a shelf pantry above.)

I really like it, especially with your very 'airy' plant. All 3 objects give one the feeling of 'floating'. Like magic! It makes the oversized electronic, look like it's in a home setting. Very nicely done. Couldn't be any nicer. Now, look for all those with the giant 'entertainment with a bridge' armoires or wall shelving be putting them up on resale websites, so they can lighten the load in their tv rooms... LOL
