Thanks for your support peewee and don. If peewee does help people on this forum well that is good, but don't insult me by telling me to do something that any normal person would do. He could have asked if I'd turned down the brightness, but he didn't. If it was just a case of turning down the brightness I wouldn't have come to this forum in the first place. It's always nice to hear from idiots like you, don. For your information I don't enjoy being treated like an idiot as the peewee did when he answered my question with his one lined response. I think you are the reason people are driven away from this forum. How many others have you men(I can only assume you to be one after all with a name like don...but then I am only an idiot after all) treated like morons and then accused them of being the case of some rift? I have found some other knowledgeable people who answered my questions about my TV without considering me to be an idiot. Don't let the keyboard come up to bite your arrogant ass. i have a 1999 philips magnavox big screen model #9p6034 c102 was watching tv and then it made a static sound and then no noise, i have tryed to turn off & on tv and put volunm up & down but nothing. the picture is working fine, just cant hear anything. please help!!!! it's driving me nut's not hearing anything thanks and the chassis model number is ptv835

If you used a "liquid trace pen", the connections are not repaired(if that was the problem). Try this, in the back of the set, usually on the right side, is the high voltage transformer.(that's the one that has the large wire going to the suction cup on the picture tube) There are two controls on the back of the transformer. The upper one is the focus, the lower one is the "screen control". Mark the screen control(I suggest that you mark the control with a dab of "white-out"), this is so you can return it to the original spot if it doesen't cure your problem. If misadjusted, it can cause the set to 'shut-down'. Turn the control clockwise about 10 min(as shown on a clock). See if this increases the brightness, without washing out the video. Don't turn too high, as this will wash out the pict and cause small, fine diagonal lines across the picture. Good luck, pw

You can get the coolant from here http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/20-4275 This is what i read on changing coolant, I suggest doing 1 tube at a time so you won't have to do a major re-convergence adjustment also mark things before you remove something. Remove the green crt first. remove the high voltage lead from the splitter, then the yoke and convergence plugs then the ground wires going from the crt ground strap to the crt board.Lay the assembly down with the drain plug facing up( you will have to support the crt neck with a block of wood)I use a turkey baster with a plastic straw taped to the end. Remove the drain plug and suck out the coolant and empty into a plastic container.I use an old milk carton. When most of the coolant is removed remove the lens assembly. Then remove the half moon shaped plastic from the reservoir . suck out the remaining cooland and use a paper towel to sop up the remaining debris. You can also use rubbing alcohol to clean out the coolant fluid to kill off bacteria. Reinstall the half moon and lens. Fill the reservoir allowing a little room for expansion.Reinstall the tube then doing the customer convergence meaning line the tube you just worked on backup with the other tubes convergence. Do the blue and red tube the same way. good luck
