FROM NH SUZANNE'S POST:

Besh, you are too funny! Put the ROLO'S DOWN AND BACK AWAY......no one will get hurt! What's going on??? My whole week has been like that. I have been positively eating and drinking out of control........wow. I hope your day improves it's supposed to be a decent weekend too.
Good morning everyone!

Raeanne, so glad you are going to exhibit your work. I don't recall seeing the still life. Did you show us?

Now there is an oxymoron: positvely eating and drinking out of control!!! Like that's positive!

Let's have a party today!

Good Sunday morning all, Patti, I am sorry to hear your news. I am glad that things are going well with Dave. (((((HUGS))))) What did you mean "four of us were in Orlando" who, what, when?????? Too bad you didn't connect with ??????????????? Besh,(((((HUGS))))) I am sorry for your family. Death is not easy. I hope your FIL has a very peaceful passing. I have sad news myself. A long time friend of ours called Friday night very late. His 29 year old son is in a coma due to a drug overdose and has very minimal brain function. Mark, (my DH), went down to be with them righ away and of this morning he has not improved although he has been able to breath for 3 minutes on his own. Right now they are in with the doctor discussing taking him off life support. The whole thing is agonizing for them. What a horrible situation. All we can do is pray and think positive and remember that everything is perfect the way it is. Besh, I know what you mean about memories. It's hard to have to revisit such awful memories right now for me. I will be thinking of you.

Hey all! Just got back from my gal pal's house. We totally bushwhacked her entryway landscaping and cleaned it up a lot! Her DH and she were loving all the light and energy that was flowing through there. The overgrowth had blocked the light to her front door and she couldn't see her driveway from her front door! The ferns had bolted through the evergreens and were stalky, 8-9 feet spindles of stem! So, we filled lawn bag after lawn bag of ivy, brush, branches, and tree needles. We worked for a full, non-stop 5 hours on cutting and bagging. Her DH powerwashed their deck and my teens babysat all the little ones. It was so much fun and so cool to see the result...not too mention the exercise we got! I may be sore tomorrow, but I'm jazzed tonight. Sunday, my 14 y.o. and I are headed to Costco to buy supplies for the local tent city that moved to the local church this week. It's a homeless, well-regulated group of homeless working citizens that move their city of tents from church property to church property every 90 days. They don't cause any trouble; they're just without homes. Anyway, some communities like them and some are frightened of the image they bring... We like nice humans, and they are, so we're going to visit with some donations for them. They publish a list of needs each week on the tent city website, so people can help. They give tours of their encampment to the folks who visit, and I really want the kids to see that everyone should help and not ignore the plight of people who are just down on their luck, partly because of our lousy economy. After that, we're cleaning and DH and I are hosting dinner for 2 other couples (good friends) and their kids. The kids are eating, then watching Racing Stripes. Then the adults will eat and catch up with each other. Catch you after that! Raeanne~ I think I'll stick with coffee for now, but the gin/tonic sure brings back foggy memories of night-clubbing in the early eighties! ---- oooooohhhhh, la, la!! NHSuzanne- So cool you got to ride! Sounds so relaxing and peaceful. I'm happy you and SP got to connect again.... Besh~ A smaller dress size? I wish I could say that! Maybe sooner than later! Cheers!

Hi goils! Gosh--how great to see all of the posts!!! :):) Tikanas-- great questions! It's been a looong time since we've done this, so here goes: 1) My interests/hobbies are: reading, HERE, junk rooting, auctions (whodathunk??), crossstitch, and I love my hairy 24 pound cat! :) 2) Well, I am an accountant by degree, but I have recently had the good forture to become a fulltime auctioneer, which I just love! 3) No kids, unless you count the hairball and hubby! LOL! 4) I am 41, and feel like 17 most days! :):):) I've been posting here since late '98, and these are the greatest ladies! I've had the pleasure to meet BJ, KYSusieQ and Zig, and they are all just as lovelt in person as they are here. :) And I just bought an old battered copy of the 5 Little Peppers several weeks ago--and sat down and read it--talk about memories! :) Lynn--((((hugs))) and treats to Simon--my 24 pounder wasn't quite that big at a year, so your purrball is going toi be huge-- :):) Things have gotten interesting here--I've told you all about my first auction that is coming up on 9/12--well the %@#$%!! that has the real estate option is acting like a $%@#%!! and is threating to sue my @ss. I'm not sure just exactly why, since I am just selling the personal property of the lady's. I suspect he knows he has a shadey deal, and now, he is threating the old lady as well. I'd like to...well.... I don't know what to do--Raeanne--any ideas? Gotta go--tomorrow's a long day--we're working a flea market over the weekend and Monday, so it will be a busy one for me! And where is Amy and Patti??? John??? Hugs, Maddie

Maddie~ Forget about the rant...nhsuzaane is right..We ALL have had rants here. It helps just to type away and press "post"--very theraputic. Plus, let yourself enjoy the support. And now, I'm going to have a little rant of my own... Maddie, On the job...I have no doubt you like (maybe even love) your job, but there is way too much "job" and not enough of you. Start looking for another position. Even if the auditors find you need more manpower, the company still has to find the funds and get the authorization for it; that could take a long, long time. Right now, it's not a priority for them to help you even learn your job...why would they be motivated to get help for any time soon? Start job hunting now. And BTW, you don't have to find a job at what you went to school for---find something you LIKE---what happened to your auctioning dreams? Or real estate? When we toured that KY mansion together, you really impressed me with your vision on property renovation! You would be a gem in the customer service end of a high-end real estate biz! And you know so much about the history of KY! And---you take on WAY too much in all of these jobs you've had. Take some time and find a job that fits YOU. Enough of this Super-Woman-Set-Me-Up-For-Failure-Cr@p. You are a very, very nice person, but you are taking on too much---because you're TOO nice! You do not have to save the company---just find a job, work as hard as you can, follow your job description, and save money for pleasure vacations and retirement, and BE YOURSELF! Maddie, everyone enjoys being around you. I loved every single minute I spent with you. Your humor, your easy smile, your warmth, and your perky red-headed personality should land you whatever job you want. Please ask yourself if what you're doing is really what you want to be doing...or is it just what you trained for and you don't want to "waste" that $ and education. Perhaps this is why you choose jobs that are so difficult. Do you really want to be doing what you're doig??? People change over time and maybe you should think about your OTHER talents and find a "fun" job to do for a while-one that take advantage of your PERKY personality, your persuasive manner, and natural good looks-instead of your brain! There is nothing wrong with *NOT* having a brainy job! Look at meeeeeeeeeeeeee! I CAN FLY! (and feel like Peter Pan half the time!) Sorry this is so long, but I really think you deserve to be happier. It makes me sad to think your employer doesn't appreciate you or give you the type of working experience you deserve. If the last person was miserable and now you're miserable, buy a paper at lunch and start LOOKING for a new job...try looking in the customer service ads...or real estate! Everyone here will write you a reference, I'm sure. Love you and want you to look forward to going to work! -Beege

My still life is of a red pepper, onion, 3 plums, a lemon and a yellow apple. It started out fine, until a student from the Saturday class ate one of the plums, and then the following week someone had moved it around YIKES. So I had to fudge it a bit - it didn't bother me that much, because I took it as more of an exercise than a painting that I would ever do anything with. But if he ever does that again, I will leave him a little note.

I have to go home and bake for tonights Open House - and I feel very vulnerable to food right now - so this will be a huge challenge. I would make something I don't like - but I like everything LOL.

Besh - those Rolo's would be talking to me too.

Thanks for all those encouraging words - you girls really know the right things to say!

I will post it after this weekend - unless I sell it, YEAH RIGHT, LOL.

Hi Amy!!!!!! Glad you stopped by! You sound chipper! Thanks for taking the time to cut and paste---I know it's time consuming..... It's pouring rain again here. Hawaii sounds SO good!

Raeanne- I was thinking. Next time you do a stillife, throw a bag of Cheetos on the side and save the life of a plum!
aka_raeanne
BJ - you crack me up - but I think the Cheetos idea is actually a good one LOL.

Amy - I am glad you posted too. I thought you might like the plum story LOL.

NH Suzanne - can you recommend a good restaurant in Providence to celebrate DD's graduation - small group of 6 people. We have reservations for Al Forno's on Friday, but need a Saturday restaurant. I thought you might be able to help - we like all kinds of food, but I was thinking of a place on Federal Hill.

The art show was a huge hit. We got a full page write up in the paper and that drew a big crowd, it is open for 3 days. I am not sure how today went, but last night it was packed. I got to overhear people talk about how much they liked my landscape - that made me feel good. It was very strange to have people come up to me and say "so you are one of the artists", at first I was like, "well no, I am one of the students".

Have a great weekend.

Happy Sunday Morning!

It is a glorious day here in the neighborhood. I am going to go out and hit some golf balls and then take my dog for a walk up the mountain.

Tomorrow we are off to Providence to pack up DD#2, so I won't be around.

Everyone have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Patti - sending special thoughts to Dave this weekend.

BJ, Jen and anyone else crafty out there -
Is there such a thing as copper sheets that are thin enough to cut, but sturdy? I am going to make a pyramid box (small), but it has to be made out of copper. In the worse case, I guess I can glue copper foil (if that exists) to the outside of the box. Can you tell me a good website to look for materials like that?
aka_raeanne

BJ, Jen and all - I found plenty of info on-line regarding the copper sheets. But if you have any experience using them and have some tips to share, I would be glad to hear about them. Thanks

Raeanne~ Glad you found the info you needed. My experience with copper foil has only been carving and embossing, then a sulfer bath (for the copper, not me!), followed by a brushing with steel wool on the parts that were raised. Makes a very cool piece of artwork. The only bummer about working with soft metal is that once you bend it or stretch it, you can never go back, so work slowly and without distraction. Some day, I'd love to do that type of project again, but for now, I string beads.

Have a great Sunday! I gotta clean sweep my office!---it's ridiculously full of old, unloved projects and paper.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!!!!!!

Let's all hold good, positive thoughts for those who gave their all for us. My dad was a WW II veteran, who earned a purple heart; he was a brave, kind man, and I miss him.

***************************

Good MONDAY Morning!

All you guys are way too crafty for me. I still haven't got the hang of macaroni pictures!!

Gotta run out to Rag Shop to get some frames for pictures I bought on my cruise. Got a coupon off the 'net, so I'm going to get the Early Bird specials.

DH is working today, so I hope he gets home in time for us to do some special stuff together. Yesterday we had a great time at the BBQ. I played some odd basketball game with DH and 2 other couples, and I didn't do so badly for being 5'2"!! I came in 2nd behind one of the guys!!! We laughed over that one! I'm not too bad at free-throwing.

Gotta run and dry my hair.

Make this a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning:

DeeMarie, I loved your message this morning. You could have been writing about my Dad, and I miss him also.

It is beautiful here today, and it was supposed to be raining. I went out on the boat yesterday and it is was nice, but sooooooooo windy. Today it is more yard work.

Speaking of being crafty, I am painting a pair of Dr. Scholls sandals for my sister for her birthday. I will ask Marci to post a picture when I am done. I hope they come out the way I have them pictured in my head! My craft projects have a way of looking completely different than what my original idea was!

Have a great day!

Love, Besh
