How sweet. I love dogs and we have one that is almost 11 years old and a mixed breed. He had been abused and in 4 homes by the time he was 4 or 5 months old. He has had a lot of medicial expnsive issues but I am so glad to have him. He arrived 20 days before my partner passed away suddenly. He has been a wonderful friend to me and I love him so much!!

Hope eveyone has a great week and may we all be able to post losses on the weigh in posting.

Donna - they are the sweetest! I know it was worth the wait and the disappointment prior to their arrival. They look like they settled in nicely.

Ivamae - my mutt is 16 years old, we rescued her from a shelter. They do fill a void, glad he could be of comfort to you in a time of great need.

Looks like everyone is busy. I am too but wanted to check-in since it's been a while. Was in NYC this weekend - MIL's 90th birthday celebration. I forgot how much I dislike hot and humid NYC days. We did have a lot of fun, especially seeing some relatives we haven't seen in years.

I am less than 2 weeks away from the girlfriends getaway and will be going crazy tying up any loose ends and realizing what I have overlooked.

The gorgeous day here inspired me to bbq some chicken for dinner. I hope your weather is as nice.

Happy April Fool's Day everyone. Hugs to everyone who needs them. We got here on Saturday & got everything unloaded Sunday. We got the truck taken back on Monday. I still have a few things to put up but for the most part, everything is in its place. It looks really nice. Here is the sad news. We took our furbabies to the vet yesterday. The oldest one, Lucy, has heartworms. We have to take her back on Monday to have them staged. We have had her a week today & have already had to pay out the wazoo for her. We love both the little ones. Just trying to figure out how we are going to afford the treatment. It is very, very sad & I wish I could say that this was an April Fool's joke but it isn't. Besh~I know how you feel. Dave tells everyone that it took us 10 years to even be able to consider having another dog after we had to give ours up when we moved to Florida. We were still crying every time we said their names. These 2 little ones have already brought us so much joy. If you or RAEANNE could let me know the best thing to pick up hair, I would appreciate it. Papillons are not supposed to shed but IDK if it is b/c of stress or b/c they weren't groomed properly or petted enough, they are shedding. Not as much now as they were a week ago!!! I cannot tell you how far they have come in a week. I'm so glad that Maddie got to do Rabbit, Rabbit. LOL I got Dave this morning. He has been winning a lot lately. I am thinking about all of you & I wish I had been able to write down what each of you said so I could comment but I have the computer on my bed right now & 2 dogs & a snoring husband in a pear tree! LOL I hope that all the MIAs will come out & play. Did we ever find out what happened with John? I miss him. He snagged himself a GF & doesn't have time for us anymore, right? It is supposed to be in the 90s here this weekend so our 4 year old granddaughter is playing 2 soccer games tomorrow & we are going to watch them. Hope everyone else enjoys their weekend. I will make the ultimate sacrifice & get a sunburn for everyone if you want me to. ;)

Hey all! Just got back from my gal pal's house. We totally bushwhacked her entryway landscaping and cleaned it up a lot! Her DH and she were loving all the light and energy that was flowing through there. The overgrowth had blocked the light to her front door and she couldn't see her driveway from her front door! The ferns had bolted through the evergreens and were stalky, 8-9 feet spindles of stem! So, we filled lawn bag after lawn bag of ivy, brush, branches, and tree needles. We worked for a full, non-stop 5 hours on cutting and bagging. Her DH powerwashed their deck and my teens babysat all the little ones. It was so much fun and so cool to see the result...not too mention the exercise we got! I may be sore tomorrow, but I'm jazzed tonight. Sunday, my 14 y.o. and I are headed to Costco to buy supplies for the local tent city that moved to the local church this week. It's a homeless, well-regulated group of homeless working citizens that move their city of tents from church property to church property every 90 days. They don't cause any trouble; they're just without homes. Anyway, some communities like them and some are frightened of the image they bring... We like nice humans, and they are, so we're going to visit with some donations for them. They publish a list of needs each week on the tent city website, so people can help. They give tours of their encampment to the folks who visit, and I really want the kids to see that everyone should help and not ignore the plight of people who are just down on their luck, partly because of our lousy economy. After that, we're cleaning and DH and I are hosting dinner for 2 other couples (good friends) and their kids. The kids are eating, then watching Racing Stripes. Then the adults will eat and catch up with each other. Catch you after that! Raeanne~ I think I'll stick with coffee for now, but the gin/tonic sure brings back foggy memories of night-clubbing in the early eighties! ---- oooooohhhhh, la, la!! NHSuzanne- So cool you got to ride! Sounds so relaxing and peaceful. I'm happy you and SP got to connect again.... Besh~ A smaller dress size? I wish I could say that! Maybe sooner than later! Marci, is that a trick question? I can't see any animal! The pictures are just magnificent. I have to agree with everyone else. The eel gives me the creeps. Maddie, so glad to see you again. I am happy that everyone is on the mend. OK, so Paul McCartney was amazing!!!! He is 67 years old and sang for 2 1/2 hours without taking a sip of water or a break. His band took a break and he pulled out the ukelele and kept on singing while they were gone. I loved Fenway Park. It was my first time there and I think my heart skipped a beat when I first walked in. It is beautiful. I am definitely going back for a ball game! Speaking of Lobsta! Tonight we are having some!!! Our first this summer. We are going out on the boat with some other couples with their boats and will raft up and have ourselves a feed! I am looking forward to a great evening. Suzanne, love the fox. You take the best pictures! My mom says she has one that has been coming around her house and she is concerned about her cat because she sleeps out on the deck all day in the sun. Dee I laughed right out loud with Marci's comment about the monkey looking in your office window. Being the animal lover that you are (NOT!), I would love to be a fly on the wall if that were actually to happen!! You know we love you, right? I should get off of the computer now. First off.... WHERE ARE YOU, MADDIE??????? YOU MISSED YOUR PARTY!!!!! HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT BIRTHDAY --- good or bad.... CHECK IN, GIRLFRIEND! Marci! Loved, loved, loved the gif! How cute and appropriate! Then... I have to thank everyone for answering my plea for help. There are such great ideas here when everyone puts their heads together. Besh, to answer your question, there are no funeral homes on the island, although there IS a cemetery. The off-island funeral homes handle everything and they're FAMILY run (their emphasis, not mine). After the suggestions here though, I got my guts up and called one and asked to them about some p/t employment when I move. The manager hasn't called back, but the woman who took my call was very nice and thought maybe something could be worked out. Meanwhile, ever busy, I took John's suggestion, and brainstormed. I think, maybe, I can work for my DH, promoting him (good for the both of us, no doubt!) and run a sort of store front, will/estate/funeral event planning biz. Many people on the island have life celebrations and I could get into that. I know a caterer from when we had the restaurant there, and a few musicians. My DH's mom does video production, so she has connections to making DVDs. And, I could work a little flying into it by renting a plane and offering to spread ashes. And I could fly to a mainland job on weekends, since the funeral home isn't too far from the airport. Anyway, like Besh & Raeanne said, I think I will continue my path and get the license. And, as taking NHSuzanne's advice, I will accept and enjoy the freedom of possibly being unemployed for a while. Kayaking, here I come? Maybe a job at one of the MANY kayaking tour places! So, thank you everyone, once again. Combining everyone's ideas has made me look at the move in a totally different way. It'll all be okay in the end...if it's not okay, it's not the end! :) Raeanne~ My in-lawas will visit at the end of the month. So company is coming here too! QOD for everyone: HOW DO YOU DECLUTTER YOUR ROOMS? John~ 1. Can you face your desk so it's facing OUT of your cubicle---so she can't see your screen --- and so you can see her coming? 2. If that's not possible, perhaps you have room to hang a large mirror above your monitor or on the wall next to it, even propped on an easel, so you can see behind you always (good feng shui). Then she can't sneak up! 3. Next, get a couple of corn plants (tall and straight) or potted bamboo and stick them on each side of your cube - that'll give her less room to stand behind you and kind of close off your office to intruders. 4. Then, with double sided tape, attach an small octaganal mirror on the back of your office chair. Good conversation piece and it'll reflect HER big, fat nose getting into YOUR business. 5. Then, every time she asks a questions, say either, "Why do you ask?" or "Pardon?" or "Say that again please?" In a VERY nice voice. When people are asking insulting or nosey things, asking them to repeat the question forces them to rethink, over and over again, what they're saying. 5. As well, if she gets excited over things outside in the parking lot or elsewhere in the building, just tell her, "Hey, if it concerns you that much, maybe you should call the police, security, or the FBI." 6. Go to an antique store and get some old pictures i frames and velcro them to your cubicle, then make up family stories about them. If you need pics of your SS sisters, just email us and we'll send the raciest ones we can find, right, girls? When Miss Buttinski asks about a phone call, tell her it was one of your 'relatives' calling, and if she has any ideas on how to stop the chafing marks Depends-brand diapers cause. 7. Then make up more huge lies about your family pictures. Keep changing the pictures until you have such an extended 'family' that absolutely no one, not even you, can keep track of them all. 8. Then start hanging pictures of babies up. Tell her these are your illegitmate children from your WILD daytime romps and you're working nights just to keep up with the bills. This should give the office 40 yr olds something to talk about for some time. 8. Then, if she still bugs you, ask if she would like to sit with for breaks, since you can't possible socialize as much as she likes on company time. It sounds like she's clueless and you're mysterious and they just want to get to know you. Girls bond by sharing secrets and talking endlessly. So she probably just wants to get to know you. Don't forget to hang a sign up that says, "I'm free to gossip at 10pm; I'll be awake and able to pay FULL attention then!" And good luck, brother! I'm thinking of you! DeeMarie~ I would say "UmmmmmmHmmmmmmm" loudly over and over again and NOT ask any questions about anything she says. If you keep doing that, she'll think about it afterwards and maybe get the message! Maybe!

Marci, thank you for posting my pictures. I will have to go back and find the directions Suzanne gave me and print them out this time.

Ivamae, these girls are puppy mill moms who were rescued. I'm glad you have your guy - they are so great. I lost my bichon last summer at 15 1/2 and my chow shep the summer before at almost 14.

Raeanne, they were definitely worth the wait. They are settling in very nicely - I am so glad we got them! I have volunteered with the rescue to be a home inspector - I will visit the homes of applicants near me. The rescue will not adopt out without a vet check and home visit.

Enjoying the warm weather but it looks like rain right now. I think thunderstorms are predicted this evening.

Good Tuesday all,

What a glorious morning it is here. It's light at 4:30 now and I am up and at it. I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE the early morning at this time of year.

Donna, your new girls are sweet looking and how lucky are they? Glad you got your photos posted. I never even thought of telling you to email them to me! Duh! Thanks Marci.

Raeanne, I feel the same way about cities now. I really wanted Terra firma under my feet and not cement! I really wish I could do that girl friends weekend! I just can't bring myself to leave Sweet Pea right now.

Speaking of bringing myself to leave Sweet Pea... Mark and I are going by motorcycle to DC for the Memorial Day weekend. We will be participating in the Rolling Thunder XXIII Parade to honor our troops, MIA's and POW's. Some 4,000 motorcycles will be rolling down Constitution Avenue on Sunday, May 30th. I resisted at first (really, who wants to drive to DC on a holiday weekend) but when he said he really wanted to go and would go without me I agreed to go. I really don't want him to go alone. It will be fun I am sure but you know I would rather be riding my horse but it will be really fun. To appease me, we will take two days on scenic routes to get there so it will be fun. Wooooo hoooo. Now I have to dust off my leathers and get my angry biker look going! Do you know why bikers never smile? They don't want to get bugs in their teeth! LOL

Suzanne, I didn't know you rode a bike. What kind? And thank you and Mark for honoring our servicemen and women.

Yeah, where is BJ? Amy? Patti? Gretchen? Hellooooo John. (I wonder how he is.)

Wish me luck tomorrow on my tests, please. I've studied until my eyes are crossed, but I always feel unprepared.

Suzanne - I really don't know Philly well, but I used to go to Bucks County and loved it. If it is like I remember it, I think you would love it too. When are you heading down. I can ask someone that used to live in the area. I am going to work on you and Mark to visit us in June for our Americade, it really is a great biker event. I forgot to mention how my side view mirror was smashed intentionally while I was in NYC in a very good neighborhood. We laughed because we actually were parked in what is considered a troubled area for 2 days and the car was fine. We park 2 hours in a wealthy area and smash, UGHHH, there is no place like home.

Maddie - I am always so happy to see you post, it makes me think of chickens and staplers for some odd reason LOL. Sending you all my positive vibes for tomorrow, but I know you won't need them!

Tikanis - wish you were coming too, there is Kayaking on the schedule!!!

Donna - how nice of you to be a home inspector - you are GREAT.

Which reminds me - I may not post as much as I want to, but I always know you are just a click away and that is very comforting. Thank you girls - you are all the BEST.

Thank you for the comments on my little girls - I am a bit biased but they are cuties!!

Maddie, good thoughts and fingers crossed for your test tomorrow.

Suzanne, are you staying in Philly proper or the outskirts? If you stay in Philly I would suggest the historic area - Carpenter's Hall, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house, etc.

Penn's Landing is also very nice, so is Society Hill. Center city Philly and South Philly are always fun. South Philly has our stadiums, airport and 9th Street Market and lots of Italian flavor.

I'm less than an hour from Philly, my dad was born and raised there and I know it fairly well.

Celebrated Cinco de Mayo with friends at a good local Mexican restaurant - had 2 very tasty Margaritas :-)

Raeanne, I'm with Tikanis and wish I was going with you too on that weekend. We are here any time you need us, you know that. I agree that it's comforting to know.

What's on everyone's agenda this weekend?

Maddie, are you through with finals? I've been keeping my fingers crossed for you all week, but you won't need it; you will be your usual brilliant self. : )

I have a date with a kayak tomorrow morning. Then it's home to work in the garden, watch the Dodger game. Not quite sure what kids have planned for Sunday... Tonight I am going to a friend's booth at a craft fair.

Happy Friday!!! TIGIF for sure.

I am hoping to get my two fields and lawns mowed! That is if it doesn't rain which it may. It's a huge project and I should have been doing a little each night this week but I didn't. I also hope to get some gardening in. My tomato plants are on the porch hardening off now but I won't be able to plant them until the end of this month. I can put my lettuce, spinach, carrots, beans, etc in. Seriously, just last week we got a foot of snow in northern NH!!

Casey has a major swollen eye this morning. Not completely swollen shut. It was so windy the last few days - really high winds she probably has some sand or something in there. I will go check her at lunch and if it's worse I need to call the vet. Poor girl looks like she got slugged.

Tikanis, sounds like you have a nice full and fun weekend ahead.

Maddie, I know you aced your finals. It's s done deal you got A's across the board! Maddie, I used to ride a bike with Mark until I got horses! Mark has a Harley of course and my bike is an old Kawasaki that starts every time....unlike the Harley which I call flipper because of the cute little noise it makes when it doesn't want to start. For this trip we are renting a full dresser so we will be riding in comfort. I am getting excited about this trip.

Donna, thanks for the info on Philly. We are going to stay at Penn's Landing. Seems like we will be able to see a bit there. We are only there for the night so a nice room and a good meal are going to be our main priority. I am sure we will see enough but during my research it sure seems like a really nice city to visit and spend some time. But if I can't bring Sweet Pea I don't want to go usually! LOL

Marci is going to Florida to spend mother's day with her kids!

I'm not going to TGIF this week because we are still on vacation in NC! We leave for NJ tomorrow morning, but it has been a blast! Celebrated 10 year' anniversary with my honey this week and my sister and her DH celebrated 25 years. We've had so much fun; cannot wait to get back here in early July (or sooner).

Donna, the pups are really cute (even I will admit that!) LOL
