How sweet. I love dogs and we have one that is almost 11 years old and a mixed breed. He had been abused and in 4 homes by the time he was 4 or 5 months old. He has had a lot of medicial expnsive issues but I am so glad to have him. He arrived 20 days before my partner passed away suddenly. He has been a wonderful friend to me and I love him so much!!

Hope eveyone has a great week and may we all be able to post losses on the weigh in posting.

Donna - they are the sweetest! I know it was worth the wait and the disappointment prior to their arrival. They look like they settled in nicely.

Ivamae - my mutt is 16 years old, we rescued her from a shelter. They do fill a void, glad he could be of comfort to you in a time of great need.

Looks like everyone is busy. I am too but wanted to check-in since it's been a while. Was in NYC this weekend - MIL's 90th birthday celebration. I forgot how much I dislike hot and humid NYC days. We did have a lot of fun, especially seeing some relatives we haven't seen in years.

I am less than 2 weeks away from the girlfriends getaway and will be going crazy tying up any loose ends and realizing what I have overlooked.

The gorgeous day here inspired me to bbq some chicken for dinner. I hope your weather is as nice.

Dee: I can't tell you if Biggest Loser is worth the time, but I can tell you that I haven't had TV since July, don't miss it, and I really like NetFlix and reading books! Lol! Hugs for your late aunt-hope you made all your travels okay. Great job multi-tasking, BTW! Raeanne: Lots of FLOODING in the NW--but none on the rock, except for the sheer volume on the roofs. Some roofs are failing--like ours--and water is currently pouring down the walls in our business office! The roofer is in there now, trying to fix it. BTW, we took our house off the market until spring. We're taking a mental vacation! Do you think you could send me the 3 foot tall version of the St. Joseph statue for when we put it back on the market???? LOL! I wish your hubby was here to sell it for us. I'd feel a LOT better! Let me know when you go to S.D. if you go in the summer. My in-laws live right by there; I'll fly down and we could rendezvous for a NON-FAT latte. Definately worth the air fare! DonnaSNJ: Most of the Biggest Losers DO NOT maintain their weight. I just read an article on them and it was very disappointing (and sad) to me to read about them and their weight creeping back on. It's a lifetime of a lifestyle---it's HARD! Milkdud- I'd go to the gym if there was a buncha guys there to help me work out!!! I tend to gravitate toward firefighters more than police officers though...(giggle) Okay, ummmm, things I'm doing for me: 1. My family bought me a light box for Christmas and I'm on my 3rd day of using it. It's so dark in the winter on the rock and I live in porched house with very tall trees all around. I cannot tell if the light box is working for a few more days, but it makes me SIT STILL for about 30-45 minutes a day! I actually look forward to it! The light is VERY bright and I like it. 2. I started using Slim Shots and it seems to help to curb my appetite. You can google them if you're interested but basically, it's a combination of oat oil and palm oil in a little cup the size of coffee creamer and you drink one with brekky and--if you want to--one with lunch. Anyway, it seems to help me a lot, so we'll see how it works when the psychological effect wears off in a week! 3. I am also keeping a food diary. I discovered I eat a lot crunchy food like rye toast w/ butter and veggie bootie when I'm stressed---and I am still snacking on the CRUNCHY FOODS when I'm bored, upset, or feel like I want to be a bad girl. I realized from the diary that I was drinking WAY too many lattes per week. I have stopped going to the latte drive thru---BUT when I have company--not very often--it's sort of a Northwest tradition to have a coffee with friends! I also have a late night eating habit that I need to curb. Soooooooooo, I've lost a pound since starting all this and hopefully, a downward trend on the scale will continue. I am making small changes and don't want to DIET because I just set myself up for failure. I will add in some exercise next week and continue to reinforce my 3 New Year's habits. I want to add water, but the water here is positively putrid to drink, and I hate buying bottled---ideas? I watched a great movie last night: PEACEFUL WARRIOR. A must see!

HI RAEANNE! Gad, you said this place is dead enough already and then you start talkin' 'bout lilies! LOL! I have been really disorganized lately and keep thinking I'm going to get it together and write something profound here....no chance. I took the trip to Kentucky (more later!) and then my parents stopped off here for a week---and ever since, I have been list-less---so I can't get organized. Yesterday, I started making lists again and now I'm getting back on track. ---------------------------------------------- QOD!!!!!! Favorite flower? Hmmmm: To grow---easy!---Poppies (Orientals are my fav) and Cosmos (they are so rewarding and easy!) To smell: probably old variety roses. I just visited the zoo rose garden with my mom and found a wonderful, sprawling rose called a Gertrude Jeckyl that smelled heavenly! I used to walk through my Grandma's rose garden and smell roses for half the day and the fragrance just brings it all back! To look at: Peonies. They are so beautiful and ruffle-y. Plus, they hold wonderfully good vibes! Every Feng Shui book calls for them! And to give: I like to give the big, double petaled Gerbera Daisies. They are so colorful, and cheerful and just look HAPPY! To receive: I think I like Liatris combined with Eucalyptus. The clean fragrance of the Eucalypyus and the brilliance of the purple stocky Liatris thrills my heart. For a funeral: I like giving potted plants or a tree. They hold a memory of the person well and last a long time. That's my answer! Thanks for the QOD, Raeanne. -------------------------------------------------- Back to the laundry machine for me!!!!!! Oh, weight wise, I am at a stall---for the 4th week in a row. I weighed in at WW Thursday and am holding. They say it is good to go slowly and I am happy I haven't gained. Hey all! Just got back from my gal pal's house. We totally bushwhacked her entryway landscaping and cleaned it up a lot! Her DH and she were loving all the light and energy that was flowing through there. The overgrowth had blocked the light to her front door and she couldn't see her driveway from her front door! The ferns had bolted through the evergreens and were stalky, 8-9 feet spindles of stem! So, we filled lawn bag after lawn bag of ivy, brush, branches, and tree needles. We worked for a full, non-stop 5 hours on cutting and bagging. Her DH powerwashed their deck and my teens babysat all the little ones. It was so much fun and so cool to see the result...not too mention the exercise we got! I may be sore tomorrow, but I'm jazzed tonight. Sunday, my 14 y.o. and I are headed to Costco to buy supplies for the local tent city that moved to the local church this week. It's a homeless, well-regulated group of homeless working citizens that move their city of tents from church property to church property every 90 days. They don't cause any trouble; they're just without homes. Anyway, some communities like them and some are frightened of the image they bring... We like nice humans, and they are, so we're going to visit with some donations for them. They publish a list of needs each week on the tent city website, so people can help. They give tours of their encampment to the folks who visit, and I really want the kids to see that everyone should help and not ignore the plight of people who are just down on their luck, partly because of our lousy economy. After that, we're cleaning and DH and I are hosting dinner for 2 other couples (good friends) and their kids. The kids are eating, then watching Racing Stripes. Then the adults will eat and catch up with each other. Catch you after that! Raeanne~ I think I'll stick with coffee for now, but the gin/tonic sure brings back foggy memories of night-clubbing in the early eighties! ---- oooooohhhhh, la, la!! NHSuzanne- So cool you got to ride! Sounds so relaxing and peaceful. I'm happy you and SP got to connect again.... Besh~ A smaller dress size? I wish I could say that! Maybe sooner than later! QOD: Youngest DD went to a friend's house to spend the night. 2nd youngest DD had a summer slumber party here-I don't know why they call it that; no one sleeps and she has a party to go to today! 15 y.o DD was out last night with 18 y.o. BF - he now has his own apartment whcih she likes to visit. She starts pilot ground school today 8-6 for the next few Saturdays and Sundays. Oldest DD got a job running projectors at the local movie house, so she was working the last couple nights till 3 a.m. w/ the "Pirates" openings? I haven't yet. Me, I'm walking dogs, watering lawns, studying philosophy, ethics, and moral obligations, topped off with a load of meteorology and LOTS of laundry and weeding! I am going to spend an hour in my office as well--cleaning! DH is taking the bar study course 24/7, so things are running smoothly around here, really. GOOD LUCK, ERICA!!! Pictures, please! You are our "SS Daily Queen" mascot EVERY DAY! Zig~ Hope the funeral was okay for you. Those things are tough, but bring people together---and that's a good thing. Dee- Good to hear you're continuing the walking, but sorry about the pain of all. Syill thinking of your co-worker and her DH... Donna~ Did you get to go out to dinner? Raeanne: The questions on the body shape quiz didn't give many options for answers. I was an hourglass too, but have never thought of myself this way---I really think I have a boy's shape, sort of squarish w/ large shoulders. I was wondering how much stock to put in that quiz. Work-outs with enough weight to cause a fair amount of resistance is a great way to prevent bone disease and just plain be healthier---so I'm foregoing the femmy looks for that. Besides, as I get older, I sort of want to look like I can kick some @ss---lol!!! As well, I have really enjoyed increasing the weight at the gym from time to time--POWER! John-cats yet? Besh-CONGRATS on the 2.6 at WW Friday!!!!!!!!! I read about you unpacking your canvas bags and had to laugh---I have the same deal after an outting! Sounds like your weekend is FULLLLLLLLL! Be good! Milkdud~ What kind of swimming do you do? I've been hitting the pool for low key water walking twice a week. It's just a nice way for me to mellow out really. Maddie! Let us know how the Tedster's concert is. We are going to see Kenny Loggins in August at Saint Michelle Winery--1/2 hour from our house--so beautiful out there. Good luck on Monday's interview---I didn't catch what kind of business you're interviewing for... NHSuzanne~ You are so lucky to live where you do. Marci, thank you for posting my pictures. I will have to go back and find the directions Suzanne gave me and print them out this time.

Ivamae, these girls are puppy mill moms who were rescued. I'm glad you have your guy - they are so great. I lost my bichon last summer at 15 1/2 and my chow shep the summer before at almost 14.

Raeanne, they were definitely worth the wait. They are settling in very nicely - I am so glad we got them! I have volunteered with the rescue to be a home inspector - I will visit the homes of applicants near me. The rescue will not adopt out without a vet check and home visit.

Enjoying the warm weather but it looks like rain right now. I think thunderstorms are predicted this evening.

Good Tuesday all,

What a glorious morning it is here. It's light at 4:30 now and I am up and at it. I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE the early morning at this time of year.

Donna, your new girls are sweet looking and how lucky are they? Glad you got your photos posted. I never even thought of telling you to email them to me! Duh! Thanks Marci.

Raeanne, I feel the same way about cities now. I really wanted Terra firma under my feet and not cement! I really wish I could do that girl friends weekend! I just can't bring myself to leave Sweet Pea right now.

Speaking of bringing myself to leave Sweet Pea... Mark and I are going by motorcycle to DC for the Memorial Day weekend. We will be participating in the Rolling Thunder XXIII Parade to honor our troops, MIA's and POW's. Some 4,000 motorcycles will be rolling down Constitution Avenue on Sunday, May 30th. I resisted at first (really, who wants to drive to DC on a holiday weekend) but when he said he really wanted to go and would go without me I agreed to go. I really don't want him to go alone. It will be fun I am sure but you know I would rather be riding my horse but it will be really fun. To appease me, we will take two days on scenic routes to get there so it will be fun. Wooooo hoooo. Now I have to dust off my leathers and get my angry biker look going! Do you know why bikers never smile? They don't want to get bugs in their teeth! LOL

Suzanne, I didn't know you rode a bike. What kind? And thank you and Mark for honoring our servicemen and women.

Yeah, where is BJ? Amy? Patti? Gretchen? Hellooooo John. (I wonder how he is.)

Wish me luck tomorrow on my tests, please. I've studied until my eyes are crossed, but I always feel unprepared.

Suzanne - I really don't know Philly well, but I used to go to Bucks County and loved it. If it is like I remember it, I think you would love it too. When are you heading down. I can ask someone that used to live in the area. I am going to work on you and Mark to visit us in June for our Americade, it really is a great biker event. I forgot to mention how my side view mirror was smashed intentionally while I was in NYC in a very good neighborhood. We laughed because we actually were parked in what is considered a troubled area for 2 days and the car was fine. We park 2 hours in a wealthy area and smash, UGHHH, there is no place like home.

Maddie - I am always so happy to see you post, it makes me think of chickens and staplers for some odd reason LOL. Sending you all my positive vibes for tomorrow, but I know you won't need them!

Tikanis - wish you were coming too, there is Kayaking on the schedule!!!

Donna - how nice of you to be a home inspector - you are GREAT.

Which reminds me - I may not post as much as I want to, but I always know you are just a click away and that is very comforting. Thank you girls - you are all the BEST.

Thank you for the comments on my little girls - I am a bit biased but they are cuties!!

Maddie, good thoughts and fingers crossed for your test tomorrow.

Suzanne, are you staying in Philly proper or the outskirts? If you stay in Philly I would suggest the historic area - Carpenter's Hall, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house, etc.

Penn's Landing is also very nice, so is Society Hill. Center city Philly and South Philly are always fun. South Philly has our stadiums, airport and 9th Street Market and lots of Italian flavor.

I'm less than an hour from Philly, my dad was born and raised there and I know it fairly well.

Celebrated Cinco de Mayo with friends at a good local Mexican restaurant - had 2 very tasty Margaritas :-)

Raeanne, I'm with Tikanis and wish I was going with you too on that weekend. We are here any time you need us, you know that. I agree that it's comforting to know.

What's on everyone's agenda this weekend?

Maddie, are you through with finals? I've been keeping my fingers crossed for you all week, but you won't need it; you will be your usual brilliant self. : )

I have a date with a kayak tomorrow morning. Then it's home to work in the garden, watch the Dodger game. Not quite sure what kids have planned for Sunday... Tonight I am going to a friend's booth at a craft fair.

Happy Friday!!! TIGIF for sure.

I am hoping to get my two fields and lawns mowed! That is if it doesn't rain which it may. It's a huge project and I should have been doing a little each night this week but I didn't. I also hope to get some gardening in. My tomato plants are on the porch hardening off now but I won't be able to plant them until the end of this month. I can put my lettuce, spinach, carrots, beans, etc in. Seriously, just last week we got a foot of snow in northern NH!!

Casey has a major swollen eye this morning. Not completely swollen shut. It was so windy the last few days - really high winds she probably has some sand or something in there. I will go check her at lunch and if it's worse I need to call the vet. Poor girl looks like she got slugged.

Tikanis, sounds like you have a nice full and fun weekend ahead.

Maddie, I know you aced your finals. It's s done deal you got A's across the board! Maddie, I used to ride a bike with Mark until I got horses! Mark has a Harley of course and my bike is an old Kawasaki that starts every time....unlike the Harley which I call flipper because of the cute little noise it makes when it doesn't want to start. For this trip we are renting a full dresser so we will be riding in comfort. I am getting excited about this trip.

Donna, thanks for the info on Philly. We are going to stay at Penn's Landing. Seems like we will be able to see a bit there. We are only there for the night so a nice room and a good meal are going to be our main priority. I am sure we will see enough but during my research it sure seems like a really nice city to visit and spend some time. But if I can't bring Sweet Pea I don't want to go usually! LOL

Marci is going to Florida to spend mother's day with her kids!

I'm not going to TGIF this week because we are still on vacation in NC! We leave for NJ tomorrow morning, but it has been a blast! Celebrated 10 year' anniversary with my honey this week and my sister and her DH celebrated 25 years. We've had so much fun; cannot wait to get back here in early July (or sooner).

Donna, the pups are really cute (even I will admit that!) LOL

PS: I ate too much this week; back to counting points on Monday.
