I borrowed the book "learning to love yourself" and dont remeber who wrote it :( I will recheck at home though and see if it is still kicking around.

DeeMarie, I think that is indeed how we first met! You gota do another Virtual Dinner!

The Virtual Dinner was great! I cooked for six, all very non-dietetic fare... I couldn't get my pics to post but everything turned out great! Check over at the cooking forum and look for South American Virtual Dinner : "Menu", and "What are you doing now?". I am doing this AGAIN next week for another group of friends. A good time was had by all : )

Dee: I can't tell you if Biggest Loser is worth the time, but I can tell you that I haven't had TV since July, don't miss it, and I really like NetFlix and reading books! Lol! Hugs for your late aunt-hope you made all your travels okay. Great job multi-tasking, BTW! Raeanne: Lots of FLOODING in the NW--but none on the rock, except for the sheer volume on the roofs. Some roofs are failing--like ours--and water is currently pouring down the walls in our business office! The roofer is in there now, trying to fix it. BTW, we took our house off the market until spring. We're taking a mental vacation! Do you think you could send me the 3 foot tall version of the St. Joseph statue for when we put it back on the market???? LOL! I wish your hubby was here to sell it for us. I'd feel a LOT better! Let me know when you go to S.D. if you go in the summer. My in-laws live right by there; I'll fly down and we could rendezvous for a NON-FAT latte. Definately worth the air fare! DonnaSNJ: Most of the Biggest Losers DO NOT maintain their weight. I just read an article on them and it was very disappointing (and sad) to me to read about them and their weight creeping back on. It's a lifetime of a lifestyle---it's HARD! Milkdud- I'd go to the gym if there was a buncha guys there to help me work out!!! I tend to gravitate toward firefighters more than police officers though...(giggle) Okay, ummmm, things I'm doing for me: 1. My family bought me a light box for Christmas and I'm on my 3rd day of using it. It's so dark in the winter on the rock and I live in porched house with very tall trees all around. I cannot tell if the light box is working for a few more days, but it makes me SIT STILL for about 30-45 minutes a day! I actually look forward to it! The light is VERY bright and I like it. 2. I started using Slim Shots and it seems to help to curb my appetite. You can google them if you're interested but basically, it's a combination of oat oil and palm oil in a little cup the size of coffee creamer and you drink one with brekky and--if you want to--one with lunch. Anyway, it seems to help me a lot, so we'll see how it works when the psychological effect wears off in a week! 3. I am also keeping a food diary. I discovered I eat a lot crunchy food like rye toast w/ butter and veggie bootie when I'm stressed---and I am still snacking on the CRUNCHY FOODS when I'm bored, upset, or feel like I want to be a bad girl. I realized from the diary that I was drinking WAY too many lattes per week. I have stopped going to the latte drive thru---BUT when I have company--not very often--it's sort of a Northwest tradition to have a coffee with friends! I also have a late night eating habit that I need to curb. Soooooooooo, I've lost a pound since starting all this and hopefully, a downward trend on the scale will continue. I am making small changes and don't want to DIET because I just set myself up for failure. I will add in some exercise next week and continue to reinforce my 3 New Year's habits. I want to add water, but the water here is positively putrid to drink, and I hate buying bottled---ideas? I watched a great movie last night: PEACEFUL WARRIOR. A must see!

HI RAEANNE! Gad, you said this place is dead enough already and then you start talkin' 'bout lilies! LOL! I have been really disorganized lately and keep thinking I'm going to get it together and write something profound here....no chance. I took the trip to Kentucky (more later!) and then my parents stopped off here for a week---and ever since, I have been list-less---so I can't get organized. Yesterday, I started making lists again and now I'm getting back on track. ---------------------------------------------- QOD!!!!!! Favorite flower? Hmmmm: To grow---easy!---Poppies (Orientals are my fav) and Cosmos (they are so rewarding and easy!) To smell: probably old variety roses. I just visited the zoo rose garden with my mom and found a wonderful, sprawling rose called a Gertrude Jeckyl that smelled heavenly! I used to walk through my Grandma's rose garden and smell roses for half the day and the fragrance just brings it all back! To look at: Peonies. They are so beautiful and ruffle-y. Plus, they hold wonderfully good vibes! Every Feng Shui book calls for them! And to give: I like to give the big, double petaled Gerbera Daisies. They are so colorful, and cheerful and just look HAPPY! To receive: I think I like Liatris combined with Eucalyptus. The clean fragrance of the Eucalypyus and the brilliance of the purple stocky Liatris thrills my heart. For a funeral: I like giving potted plants or a tree. They hold a memory of the person well and last a long time. That's my answer! Thanks for the QOD, Raeanne. -------------------------------------------------- Back to the laundry machine for me!!!!!! Oh, weight wise, I am at a stall---for the 4th week in a row. I weighed in at WW Thursday and am holding. They say it is good to go slowly and I am happy I haven't gained. Well, Raeanne, I don't think our chances look too hot! But then again, we'd have to actually BET THE MONEY to win.... Maddie, have a wonderful vacation! Suzanne, You guys are getting rained out today? Mary Ann, Your margarita and nacho diet sounds good to me! It is overcast and cool here today. I got up at the crack of dawn a spent a couple of hours weeding and tying up tomatoes in the garden. I have 16' of staked tomatoes and 16' supported by the "Florida Weave" as a comparison test on the two methods. I harvested a ton of carrot, onion, lettuce, radish, bok choy, cabbage, and chard. Housework planned for the rest of the day, Spending the day with the kids for Mother's day tomorrow. Happy Mother's day to all Mamas of human AND animal babies : ) Tikanas

Raeanne - You and your family continue to be in my thoughts. I was walking this morning and I just kept thinking about you and what you must be feeling. I hope the memorial service goes well and you can honor you mother's life. We just got back from a giant flea market and all I got was a cantaloupe, 4 zucchini and a pound of string beans. We drove 30 miles, spent $5 on gas and saved $2 on the produce. LOL But I had fun going and looking. Was hoping to find some good paperback books for a $1 but nothing interested me. We stopped to see DH's car (his '62 Nova) that was just painted. It still needs a final sanding and then buffed, but it is looking good. Hopefully DH can bring it home in a few weeks and start putting all the trim back on. I know he is itching to drive it. It has been in a state of disrepair since the fall. Our garage looks like it belongs to someone else. DH and I threw so much stuff away we had to help the garbage collectors this morning. Yesterday a guy in a pick up truck took a filing cabinet and 2 lawn chairs. Someone this morning took an old window screen. All had seen better days, but one's man junk is another man's treasure. I just know that I have lots more room to get in and out of my car. Told DH that I felt like I was in the wrong garage. He is worrying that in two weeks he will need something that I convinced him to throw away! LOL I made pulled pork and coleslaw for dinner. Now I need to make some BBQ sauce and snap the beans I just bought. This is going to be a good dinner. Come on over, I have plenty. I still haven't mastered cooking for two. Zig - Happy Birthday to my SS sister! I agree with Tikanis "make it last all week long". I am so thrilled that you have returned to this board. Thanks for all your input and support. You are a great source of inspiration for me.

debi - What a relief! Glad it went so well - we missed you.

Marci - I saw that little rabbit, rabbit you snuck in there LOL.

Tikanis - that sounds like so much fun. I may have to try that some time. Are you having another treatment soon?

Milkdud - a month is a long run, I am sure it will do you a world of good -just be careful and listen to your body.

Dee - you are the best stepmom! I forgot to post after you wrote about your Diana Ross episode - funny, but I could just imagine it all.

BJ - can't believe your parcel hasn't arrived yet! Mailed that April 15th.

Not a good weekend for Mom - doctor had to be called in - my Brother is coming home from Florida on May 15th - Hoping that's what she is waiting for.

I did get to golf a couple of times of last week - not as much as I would like, but that's OK too.

Joanne, there is not a day that goes by where I don't think about how you are coping with your situation. It was almost 18 years ago that I faced this with my mom.

I am back in the office with only 2 meetings today and most of my department is either working from home or on holiday. I've decided to take about 3 hours to thoroughly go through this place and toss out old files and junk that I do not need. It's worth the time because I don't feel so much stress with less around me.

Well, the dinner party went off as planned on Saturday night. The place looked nice, and I was actually proud of it. :) Rog smoked ribs, and made baked beans, slaw and a cheescake while I worked a show on Sat, and then we all met and ate--good time! I like to enterain, and I just wish I had more room; we do it more often!

Joanne! I got the birthday box last night! THANK YOU so much! It's a tea party-in-a-box! Special yummy teas, a wonderful tea press, a bejeweled friendship spoon to "stir up" conversation, pictures of London/Ontario and a "To Market, To Market" cookbook full of ideas for fresh cooking! I was looking through the cook book and getting hungry---I'll have to visit the Pike Place Market and cook something up! The best of all, though, was the photo of you and your family! You look like someone I would LOVE to spend some time with! Fun, fun , fun! And your daughter's wedding must have been a fairytale! Lovely! Everything! Thanks so much! What a great day you gave me! SOOOOOOO special!

Well, I am writing an assignment for the 'Ick' class today. I'm finishing up all the work for this week and next Monday, so I can have a strees-free DERBY! I leave Thursday night and arrive in the bluegrass state Friday morning! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

My neighbor is moving to London June 2nd, so the neighbors are haivng a luncheon for her today. I will miss her--she is very nice. Her son and daughter-in-law are moving into her house. I'm sure they'll be as nice as she is---just younger!

QOD: Does anyone have the questionnaire that most of us filled out when we first started the birthday/holiday swap? I would love to have the new members fill it out...makes it easier to know what to include in their package. (Can you tell I'm still trying to shop for Donna?!)

We had about 98 children of employees in today for workshops and special events. I was an escort for a group of 6 boys (aged 11-13). Since I had back-to-back meetings this morning, I only got them for the afternoon. NOW I remember why I did not want children LOL! They knocked me out....kept trying to round them up like steer. They finally settled down in the advertising seminar when they got to create and star in their own TV commercial!

Meeting some old colleagues for dinner tonight. One I never got along with, but she comes with the group. Will try to be on my very best behaviour but she has lots of trouble with personal boundaries (like in the middle of a staff meeting....."say, you are always smiling. How many times a week do you have s@x?" HUH? Wish me luck! haha

25. If I had a day all to myself, I would say the h3ll with gas prices, and go to all of the out of the way shops around here that I just love, and spend all day looking. ORÂtake a class in PMC or photography. OR sit under a tree in a park and eat fried chicken.

27. What in your life now reminds you of when you were growing up? Going to the local ice cream place and getting a cone. The smell of cut grass. Soaking in the tub, and then getting into fresh sheets. Being barefoot in the yard.

27. What in your life now reminds you of when you were growing up? Grass that was just mowed, iced tea in the summer, the beach and all of the wonderful smells that go with the ocean.
