Happy Birthday Zig! I hope you have a wonderful day!! Marci, I am so glad that you remembered for us all.

Milkdud, did I miss something? I thought that you had left your job? Did you start another?

DeeMarie, I think that is indeed how we first met! You gota do another Virtual Dinner!

The Virtual Dinner was great! I cooked for six, all very non-dietetic fare... I couldn't get my pics to post but everything turned out great! Check over at the cooking forum and look for South American Virtual Dinner : "Menu", and "What are you doing now?". I am doing this AGAIN next week for another group of friends. A good time was had by all : )

Off to work!

Zig, I hope that this is a terrific day for you. Heck! Make it last all week long!

Sounds like everyone is in this together! -And doing very well! *************YOU GO, GIRLFRIENDS!******************* NWRoseLady: Where are you in Puget Sound? What part? I'm out in the islands off the Anacortes ferry. NHSuzanne: A little soulful, hopeful light for Belle coming at you from me! McPeg: How's the college app going????? Good luck! Wodka: I think eliminating alcohol makes losing easier. The alcohol calories + snacks calories = LIPS to HIPS! Jan, you will stay on track and not become a wuss(your words!) here. You see, I have these boots that are very pointy and have really high heels! Gretchen: Cool deal your daughter's doing. One word: DEET! I used a lot of it in Nicaragua, Alaska, and Aussie Land! Of course, in Alaska, the state bird is the mosquito! But, my gawd, woman, get out to Cali and see your son! Give yourself a reward! Your photo link is COOL! Thanks for sharing! Dee: I can't tell you if Biggest Loser is worth the time, but I can tell you that I haven't had TV since July, don't miss it, and I really like NetFlix and reading books! Lol! Hugs for your late aunt-hope you made all your travels okay. Great job multi-tasking, BTW! Raeanne: Lots of FLOODING in the NW--but none on the rock, except for the sheer volume on the roofs. Some roofs are failing--like ours--and water is currently pouring down the walls in our business office! The roofer is in there now, trying to fix it. BTW, we took our house off the market until spring. We're taking a mental vacation! Do you think you could send me the 3 foot tall version of the St. Joseph statue for when we put it back on the market???? LOL! I wish your hubby was here to sell it for us. I'd feel a LOT better! Let me know when you go to S.D. if you go in the summer. My in-laws live right by there; I'll fly down and we could rendezvous for a NON-FAT latte. Definately worth the air fare! DonnaSNJ: Most of the Biggest Losers DO NOT maintain their weight. I just read an article on them and it was very disappointing (and sad) to me to read about them and their weight creeping back on. It's a lifetime of a lifestyle---it's HARD! Milkdud- I'd go to the gym if there was a buncha guys there to help me work out!!! I tend to gravitate toward firefighters more than police officers though...(giggle) Okay, ummmm, things I'm doing for me: 1. My family bought me a light box for Christmas and I'm on my 3rd day of using it. It's so dark in the winter on the rock and I live in porched house with very tall trees all around. I cannot tell if the light box is working for a few more days, but it makes me SIT STILL for about 30-45 minutes a day! I actually look forward to it! The light is VERY bright and I like it. 2. I started using Slim Shots and it seems to help to curb my appetite. You can google them if you're interested but basically, it's a combination of oat oil and palm oil in a little cup the size of coffee creamer and you drink one with brekky and--if you want to--one with lunch. Anyway, it seems to help me a lot, so we'll see how it works when the psychological effect wears off in a week! 3. I am also keeping a food diary. I discovered I eat a lot crunchy food like rye toast w/ butter and veggie bootie when I'm stressed---and I am still snacking on the CRUNCHY FOODS when I'm bored, upset, or feel like I want to be a bad girl. I realized from the diary that I was drinking WAY too many lattes per week. I have stopped going to the latte drive thru---BUT when I have company--not very often--it's sort of a Northwest tradition to have a coffee with friends! I also have a late night eating habit that I need to curb. Soooooooooo, I've lost a pound since starting all this and hopefully, a downward trend on the scale will continue. I am making small changes and don't want to DIET because I just set myself up for failure. I will add in some exercise next week and continue to reinforce my 3 New Year's habits. I want to add water, but the water here is positively putrid to drink, and I hate buying bottled---ideas? I watched a great movie last night: PEACEFUL WARRIOR. A must see!

Rabbit! Rabbit! I always forget! Suzanne, I second BJ's request. We wanna hear! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I know that I am. I went to lunch with a friend from another forum on Friday. ( That was FUN!!) and to dinner with another friend last night. So far today I've been to church and am going to sit down and watch the Dodger game with DS. Then, off to a movie in the late afternoon. I have been "good carbing" it without a hitch for 2 weeks now. I have been making a lot of the recipes from the Good Carb cookbook that DeeMarie gave me for Christmas.I have discovered that bringing sunflower seeds to the movies keeps me away from the butter soaked popcorn and I do not feel deprived : ) This looks to be another busy week. I am hoping for better time management on my part. It is so easy to get distracted when you are working from home. I better learn, as in September, I will be making a lot of Home Nursing visits and time efficiency will become imperative! "See you" all tomorrow! Hi goils! Gosh--how great to see all of the posts!!! :):) Tikanas-- great questions! It's been a looong time since we've done this, so here goes: 1) My interests/hobbies are: reading, HERE, junk rooting, auctions (whodathunk??), crossstitch, and I love my hairy 24 pound cat! :) 2) Well, I am an accountant by degree, but I have recently had the good forture to become a fulltime auctioneer, which I just love! 3) No kids, unless you count the hairball and hubby! LOL! 4) I am 41, and feel like 17 most days! :):):) I've been posting here since late '98, and these are the greatest ladies! I've had the pleasure to meet BJ, KYSusieQ and Zig, and they are all just as lovelt in person as they are here. :) And I just bought an old battered copy of the 5 Little Peppers several weeks ago--and sat down and read it--talk about memories! :) Lynn--((((hugs))) and treats to Simon--my 24 pounder wasn't quite that big at a year, so your purrball is going toi be huge-- :):) Things have gotten interesting here--I've told you all about my first auction that is coming up on 9/12--well the %@#$%!! that has the real estate option is acting like a $%@#%!! and is threating to sue my @ss. I'm not sure just exactly why, since I am just selling the personal property of the lady's. I suspect he knows he has a shadey deal, and now, he is threating the old lady as well. I'd like to...well.... I don't know what to do--Raeanne--any ideas? Gotta go--tomorrow's a long day--we're working a flea market over the weekend and Monday, so it will be a busy one for me! And where is Amy and Patti??? John??? Hugs, Maddie

Hi all! Thanks for all of the bday/anniversary wishes--I had a great week, and we had a really nice anniversary! :) Rog got me tickets to see A.J. Jacobs (the author--he writes for Esquire, and is like Bill Bryson--really hysterical!), and tickets for Anthony Bourdain the next night. Now, he's yummy! :) Then, this past Friday night, I went to see a live showing of Rocky Horror--gad, that was f*u*n! No props, but it was still fun yelling out the lines to the actors! :) We're going to Chattanooga, TN next weekend to look at fall foliage, and just have fun and relax. So, it's been a lovely couple of weeks! School is going well, too. I just took another algebra test, and did suprising well on it. I am one point away from an A average, so hopefully, I can get it. Even though I've worked in corporate accounting/finance for decades, I still am not a math person. Go figure. LOL! I'm enjoying it, though, and it's good to get the ol' gray matter up and working again. I did get a very nice complement from a friend. We were discussing my going back to school at my age, and she said that I was her hero for doing it, and that she'd like to be a nurse too, but that she didn't think she could do it. I told her that I thought that if *I* can do it, anyone can and that she'd be a wonderful nurse (and she would). I just thought that was nice as I've never been anyone's 'hero' before. :) Milkdud--liver! Urk! :) I like the taste, but can not get past the texture. Congrats on good numbers! :) I started eating better, and walking 3 miles a day, and I feel so much better. I think that mess I went through in July was a real b*tt-kicker for me to take better care of myself. Speaking of that........ (drumroll, please!) I am down almost 50 pounds from my top weight!!!! And I have bought a pair of 7 for All Mankind jeans, and got in Âem, and they are comfortable. I am thrilled, to say the least! I want to lose another 20 pounds to get to a healthy BMI, and then maintain this. I canÂt believe thatÂs itÂs this close to Halloween already. Gad, what a year. Does anyone what to do a Christmas exchange this year? (I know that I missed last years, so IÂm hoping that we will do it this year!) Anyhoo, gotta goÂhope all is well with everyone! Love and hugs, Maddie

Zig - Happy Birthday to my SS sister! I agree with Tikanis "make it last all week long". I am so thrilled that you have returned to this board. Thanks for all your input and support. You are a great source of inspiration for me.

debi - What a relief! Glad it went so well - we missed you.

Marci - I saw that little rabbit, rabbit you snuck in there LOL.

Tikanis - that sounds like so much fun. I may have to try that some time. Are you having another treatment soon?

Milkdud - a month is a long run, I am sure it will do you a world of good -just be careful and listen to your body.

Dee - you are the best stepmom! I forgot to post after you wrote about your Diana Ross episode - funny, but I could just imagine it all.

Enjoy the beautiful day!

Happy Birthday Zig - hope it's a great one.

BJ - can't believe your parcel hasn't arrived yet! Mailed that April 15th.

Not a good weekend for Mom - doctor had to be called in - my Brother is coming home from Florida on May 15th - Hoping that's what she is waiting for.
Thanks so much for all your thoughts and wishes.

I did get to golf a couple of times of last week - not as much as I would like, but that's OK too.

Take care everyone.

HAPPY BIRRRRRTTTTHHHHDDDDAAAYYYY DEAR, SWEET, BRIGHT, COMPASSIONATE ZIG & MAGIC KITTTTYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!

Hope this week is special for both of you and those you love.

Joanne, there is not a day that goes by where I don't think about how you are coping with your situation. It was almost 18 years ago that I faced this with my mom.

Glad to see that most of you are up and about and feeling better.

I am back in the office with only 2 meetings today and most of my department is either working from home or on holiday. I've decided to take about 3 hours to thoroughly go through this place and toss out old files and junk that I do not need. It's worth the time because I don't feel so much stress with less around me.

Hope everyone has a great day! Make it count.
Take care, eat healthfully, and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!

Magic Kitty! Happy, Happy Birthday! How'd the move go? Please pop in and tell us what's up with YOU! (((HUGGLES))))

Joanne! I got the birthday box last night! THANK YOU so much! It's a tea party-in-a-box! Special yummy teas, a wonderful tea press, a bejeweled friendship spoon to "stir up" conversation, pictures of London/Ontario and a "To Market, To Market" cookbook full of ideas for fresh cooking! I was looking through the cook book and getting hungry---I'll have to visit the Pike Place Market and cook something up! The best of all, though, was the photo of you and your family! You look like someone I would LOVE to spend some time with! Fun, fun , fun! And your daughter's wedding must have been a fairytale! Lovely! Everything! Thanks so much! What a great day you gave me! SOOOOOOO special!

Well, I am writing an assignment for the 'Ick' class today. I'm finishing up all the work for this week and next Monday, so I can have a strees-free DERBY! I leave Thursday night and arrive in the bluegrass state Friday morning! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

My neighbor is moving to London June 2nd, so the neighbors are haivng a luncheon for her today. I will miss her--she is very nice. Her son and daughter-in-law are moving into her house. I'm sure they'll be as nice as she is---just younger!

Maddie! I want to see you. I'll email you my and DD's flight info and see if we can hook up somewhere!

Have a great day. Sunny here and about 60.

Have a great time BJ!

QOD: Does anyone have the questionnaire that most of us filled out when we first started the birthday/holiday swap? I would love to have the new members fill it out...makes it easier to know what to include in their package. (Can you tell I'm still trying to shop for Donna?!)

We had about 98 children of employees in today for workshops and special events. I was an escort for a group of 6 boys (aged 11-13). Since I had back-to-back meetings this morning, I only got them for the afternoon. NOW I remember why I did not want children LOL! They knocked me out....kept trying to round them up like steer. They finally settled down in the advertising seminar when they got to create and star in their own TV commercial!

Meeting some old colleagues for dinner tonight. One I never got along with, but she comes with the group. Will try to be on my very best behaviour but she has lots of trouble with personal boundaries (like in the middle of a staff meeting....."say, you are always smiling. How many times a week do you have s@x?" HUH? Wish me luck! haha

Make every day count!
