I don't know much about remote healing, but I just want to say I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. A friend of mine is battling osteosarcoma, she says the more positive energy she is around, the better she feels, and the more energy she feels like she will win her fight.

Mistybear, I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I think we can all send out some positive thoughts and prayers to you - plus I do think there's a healing, stress relieving process in sharing what is in your heart with others. Sometimes that's hard to do with close family and friends because you don't want to upset them. So you can come to us to get boosted back up after a tough day or treatment.

Hang in there, be tough and fight this fight. You can do it!!

I was wondering lately where you were but the last few years you've been away for long periods so I thought you'd pop in eventually; sorry to hear about this health issue, how much longer will you be having the chemo/radiation ?

You have a big nut to crack, mistybear. Write about it here all you want, and yell and cuss (in type) when you have the energy; we can take it, and sometimes it helps a lot! On the other hand, if you don't feel like answering questions or posting anything at all, don't feel obligated. I don't know about remote healing, but hugs and well-wishes might help you feel a little happier. I'm sending you lots of them.

I am a mostly Lurker, but wanted to share a website with you. If you Google Tong Ren healing, I believe this is what you are speaking of. I have been to His guinne pig classes and there are some amazing people / stories there. I am only dealing with menopause(surgical related) but some of the stories there would curl your toes. The people are just amazing. I am heading out the door but I hope this helps.

I do believe in ESP, and I also believe in positive
thoughts and energy. I do not disbelieve that the two combined can, somehow, ( I am no student on any of this, obviously) bring about remote healing. Isn't this what that book, The Secret, is all about....which was nothing new; this type of belief has been around for a very long time. I am sending healing thoughts your way and a prayer goes out, too, but believe it can be one and the same.

Here is an interesting video on Tong Ren.

It reminds me of the lady who appeared on "Oprah" who was there to meet her hero Uma Thurman. The lady had gone through breast cancer treatments and throughout the process had watched the Kill Bill movies to help her visualize killing her cancer. Maybe it is similar to the laugh-yourself-well approach to using joy to active your immune system.

A friend of mine does Reiki distance healing. She says distance doesn't matter, could be on the other side of the world or in the next room. (She uses it a lot for those who cannot be touched, such as burn patients, patients in isolation, very premature babies, etc.) She considers it as an adjunct to other treatments, not the be-all and end-all as many other "alternative" modalities claim. My local hospital offers Reiki (for free!) for inpatients; last time I was hospitalized the pain medicine wasn't working as well as it should have and I was in a good bit of distress, but after the Reiki session I was able to get to sleep. I was still in pain but I was able to detach myself from it better than I usually do.

Another of my friends does energy healing and crystal work. She has to lay on hands, though. DH was trained as a massage therapist (cobbler's wife got no shoes though, he's developed some kind of repetitive stress injury that has made it tricky) and part of his training was energy healing - basically massage without physical contact, for those who cannot be touched because of pain or memories of physical assault or whatever, but he also needs to get his hands within 6" or so of the skin.

I have asked my Patroness, Brighid, one of Whose aspects is that of the Healer, to look upon you with kindness, just as you have been kind to so many people on these forums.

I would be skeptical about remote healing. I'm wondering what or if there is a cost for remote healing? I'm betting it's not free. I believe in God & in our medical doctors here in the US. You are in my thoughts & prayers.

Another message of positive energy and healing thoughts. I've not heard of remote healing, but I definitely believe in alternative therapies in conjunction with traditional western medicine. I believe that anything that helps us emotionally bear the burden of what helps us physically is beneficial.

I practice reiki. So, yes, I believe in distance healing  with some caveats. I canÂt offer any empirical evidence that there anything special happening with reiki, but IÂve had enough "interesting" things happen that I do believe that there is some kind of universal healing energy that we can channel. Even if it turns out just to be that we feel better because we know that someone is putting forth energy in our best interest, thatÂs not a bad thing. I do not believe that each and every illness can be "cured" by distance healing or anything else, for that matter. Sometimes "healing" comes in the form of being better able to cope with the challenges we face. Like MariÂs friend, I consider reiki an adjunct to medical treatment, not a replacement.

If you decide to explore a reiki treatment in person, the fee should be about the same as a therapeutic massage. The client usually lies down, but remains clothed. The practitioner usually rests the hands on the recipient in various locations, but doesnÂt massage. Touch isnÂt necessary. Holding the hands near the recipient works, too.

Distance healing has a meditative component to help one connect to the recipient. Some practitioners charge for distance healing. My reiki teacher, Susan Aguirre, does not. Her web site has a good explanation of her process and a form to request a distance healing. If you request a distance healing from her, she may or may not contact you. Either way, she will definitely do reiki from a distance.

Thank you all. There is so much I am learning that would never hAVE occured had the doctors not found me in this situation. This has been going on for a long time, if not years and I didn't see it. But as I sit back and reflect I can see areas where things were off but just shrugged it off and carried on. What I am learning or feeling for lack of better words at this time is the power of the universe that surrounds me every day. The biggest thing I have learned is how in not meaning to become materialistic I have to find a way to give back. They say that you spend the first 20 years accumaulating all the nice things or in my case I will call it stuff and the next 20 years getting rid of it. I have learned it is okay to have it if it is for the right reasons.
For the time being I am totally bed ridden and have been for almost a month now. I don't get bored, in fact I find that I barely have time to myself with doing treatments, and doctors checking in and volunteers and social workers and physio therapists and company and nurses and so on. On the weekends is my best time for company, crocheting, writing thank you notes, writing notes down, having a little time to be writing on here right now and also just plain thinking and reflecting about life and every thing from the past to the present to the future.
I would have to say the biggest change in my life is the coincindes that have occured since this all started, and since then have learned there is no such thing as a coincidence. Which gives me even more to be in the state of awe feeling the powers surrounding me by the universe constantly.

Linda; I'm so very sorry you were diagnosed. I know that no matter what I say, it will only help so much. You are the one that has to deal with this every day.

The best tips I can give you are to go to Cancer Compass; there is a great message board. Since it sounds like you have 2 different types; you should post in 2 sections - one is brain - and depending on what type was found in the hip area, there is another section for that. I wish I'd found it sooner as there are different ways to treat what my hubby has (oral).

See if your cancer center has the book Patient resources there is a lot of information there on where to get help - financially and for your type of cancers. Hopefully you will not be losing your health insurance like we just did. Also have your hubby do the family leave paperwork. From what I was told, some will get paid leave while others won't. I don't know what the difference was; we never got that far; we did not qualify for paid leave.

Have they given you anything for pain? Look up Actiq pops - this was the best for pain when hubby has pain. You are able to control how much pain med you take so that you don't have to be loopy all day.

Did they give you a notebook to keep track of your health info?

I just scrolled up and see you posted today.. I missed it since I last read. I agree that things happen for a reason; or at least I think this is what you're saying. We had our house for sale in 2007; sold in 2008 - hubby fell off of his car carrier 10/07 & we almost did not move. We were going to give up so many times but the house sold; then the market crashed. We had hard times & at times wondered why we did move.. but on the bright side; had we not been here, he may not have had the treatment he did.
