Looking for - don't know what it's called

I am a flavor addict. I love homemade soups and often make my own beef or chicken broth (long, slow cooking). Even so, I often think my soup needs a flavor boost and usually use added bouillon. But this often adds more salt than I would like. Once, a long time ago, I purchase something that I would liken to a "paste" that was beef flavored and did not have an overpowering salty taste. This was perfect and I'd like to buy it again, but I can't find something like that in the local stores and don't really know what to ask for. I'd buy it online if I could figure out what it was called. Does anyone here know?
