Hi to all, I may be the new owner of a Brother 270D at 10:00 tomorrow morning. I found one for sale in my local classifieds and I'm hoping to find info and help from time to time, as I have never used an embroidery machine before. Are members allowed to sell items on this forum? The machine I'm looking at is missing the hoop and I'm interested in embroidery cards, too. If not, can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

I have owned this machine and if you are missing the hoop, you can find a replacement on ebay, or Amazon, or other places. The machine only does 4x4 , but you can also use a ''repositionable" hoop to do 5x7 designs by stitching part of the design, and then reposition to complete. However, you would need "split designs" or split them yourself with specialty software.
May I suggest you buy the Brother PE Basic card reader/writer instead of design cards? You can then download designs from the internet---free or purchased--and transfer from computer to the 'Basic' card to use in your machine. The Basic comes with software & reusable card--will hold many designs at one writing. It should cost about $100 and available at Walmart on line, ebay, many sites. The design cards can cost as much for only one card. this is the way to go. Re: selling items on this site, I think not. Read the terms of this site. There is a strict 'no advertising' policy. Perhaps you could consider joining the Etsy site if you want to sell.

Hi! I know this post is super old but I figured I'd try...so I think I need the embroidery arm too! I purchased the machine from a woman on Craigslist and it malfunctioned the FIRST time I used it at home. Worked fine when she demonstrated for me. Anyway I like embroidery and would really like to learn. I'm hoping one of you wonderful ladies (and possibly gentlemen) could be of assistance to me. All I want is to become a magnificent embroiderer... Thanks everyone!

I have one for 2 years now and other than the limit of the 4x4 field, I have been quite happy with it. It has done many, many grandkids gifts for me and towels, table cloths, even quilt blocks. It is a good basic machine, has a couple of minor threading problems but you learn how to avoid them. Had a problem once when I broke a needle but the local dealer fixed it quickly and cheaply. I bought mine from one of the sewing stores on eBay. It was the best price by far $259.00

In my manual that came with my 270, there is a picture that you can hold a bobbin up against to see if you have the correct one...GOOD LUCK!

No card of designs? Practically for the cost of one design card, you can buy PED Basic-- software including a blank card and a reader/ writer box. So, for less than $100, you will be able to download all the designs you want from the Internet....bought or free. Start price cking at Walmart on line, eBay, Allbrands, etc.
