Hello Latinforever, I understand that your newly purchased Vfts leaves turned black all the sudden, it's very understandable. Venus' flytraps dislike drastic temperature changes. When you bought it, it was probably sitting in a Shaded Area, covered with some plastic cup/dome. Everytime you buy plants from places like Home Depot, or Lowes.. or Walmart, you should atleast acclimate them for a week. Many People usually acclimate their plants to their New Surroundings. Some People Acclimate their plants by Growing them under flourecent lights, some in a shaded area(out of direct sunlight), or in an bright, indirect area atleast for a week. While acclimating your plant, you can still water it with the tray method. You should not dispose your vft to the garbage. You mention about repotting your plant. It sounds like a good idea. Just make sure to buy Peatmoss, not potting soil, Get some Schwults.. or lambert peatmoss from Walmart, or Lowes. Along with that, you can purchase some perlite. Mix the Media, 50% Peat Moss, 50% Perlite. Make the media very moist. this new media will aerate your plant's roots, and help it in its new growth. After you repot your plant, try acclimating it either under lights for a week or in a bright indirect area outdoors. Your second question, the only way to train your newly purchased plants to take full sun is by acclimating them both in their new surroundings. Trust me in this one, everytime i buy new plants from home depot(usually VFts) i acclimate them for atleast a week under flourecent lights, after that week, i allow them to take full sun atleast for 4-6 hours a day. Ifofco, if you like your 4 year old FL SQ, I don't see why you wouldn't like the new one. As mamapinkey says, the main thing people have against them is that they have no internal heater. I guess the consumer business is the red headed step child. I looked for numbers on what percentage of their business is commercial but could not find it in a quick search.
