Hi Everyone! It has been cold the past two days here -37C with the windchill. The days before that snow, snow and more snow. We have about 3 ft now. Not much gardening going on around here. Even the leaves on my fushia plant have started to die back, can't figure out what is going on. I don't think it has bugs. Hi nicole Welcome! I haven't been to Dr. Phil's website. I have been taking Cod Liver Pills for over 20 years now, but I don't know the other pill. Is Glucosamine Sulfate a calcium pill? I have to be careful as I'm on so many other meds. I am back on my old arthritis meds, I went to see the doc last week. He has cut me back though, I'm only taking 1/3 what I was taking before and that is cut in half twice a day. I was on new meds for one day but there were a bit too many side effects so he put me back on naproxen. Hi claubill, yes I had elizabeth levin. That is great u have lost so much weight already! We use to meet at our town hall, but now the society have moved into a church's basement. Good luck getting the Hort. Society going! There is a lot of paper work involved with one. I use to be the Corresponding Secretary for ours and it kept me busy! It sounds like your family was really sick! Are u sure it wasn't food poisioning? I'm glad you are starting to feel better now, but it sure sounds like u went thru a terrible time. Sounds like u are having nice temps.. 10C? I wish you'd share some of that with us. Marcia..... -50C???? YIKES! It's no wonder u are crabby! That is very cold for you! You don't want to go into a cave though, as they are cold and damp, u need to go to a nice warm place. Hey isn't Gale going somewhere warm? Get her to pack u in her suitcase and smuggle u along. *G* My doc told me if I didn't want to take the naproxen or other stuff to take Tylenol. I didn't know it was an anti inflammatory. I'd better go I'm going to try and bake some rhubarb/strawberry pie and I have never baked it before, so it's going to take me a while. Hi there! Cathy, I got the Beauty of Leafland and Hazeldean thru Roses for the North,,, many years ago. I think they are closed down now. In fact that is where I got all my roses. I needed to find a place that grew their roses on their own root stock for northern gardens. I have been trying to sort of "kill" Hazeldean for a few years. I redid my front garden a few years ago and dug up the rose and moved it but it keeps coming up in places I don't want it too! LOL Your OGR sound lovely! I have seen pictures of them in gardening catalogues and I would love to be able to grow them, but with my health being not the best I just don't have the strength to baby them like they need. I didn't know that some roses have such a history and can certainly understand why u love to grow them! The bunny is still around outside, I saw him again tonight. I know he has eaten some of my tulip leaves and I can only imagine what he is going to do with the hosta fingers! I am trying to get him to eat the food I put out for him in the dish, but he seems to like the self serve type. LOL I figure once I start sitting outsie with the dog he might go somewhere else. We still have to figure out how to build a fence along the side where the garage was, so the dog doesn't get out onto the street. Marcia, hi there! I thought u got buried under a snow pile.......LOL Corban is 3 months old now but is still pretty small. I hope he is going to have a bit of his father's height and not a shrimp like his mom. Dad is 6'6" and mom is like 4' 10" ........and all of her family is short! Darius is walking at 10 months already? Yikes! That is great she is pointing to pictures already.....she is a little smartie!! Corban is just starting to smile and trying to giggle. I have gotten into the front garden, but it is still so wet in there I don't want to walk around too much. I have yet to do any clean up and I'm not looking forward to it. My back is hurting already. LOL Are u sure u want to hurry and move your roses? You know it might take hubs another few years to getting the wood bought........LOL We are waiting for our contractor to come around and start on the roof. I'm not looking forward to that as I'm worried about my plants. Plus we still have a bunch of wood and siding laying down in the front garden that was in the garage and there is no way I can move it into the backyard. So somehow I have to figure out where and how to get it back there. I sure wish we didn't have to take down our garage it sure is making life more difficult. My petunias are growing pretty fast now, since I figured out I wasn't giving them strong enough fertilizer. OOPS LOL I had fungas gnats around the plants and I think they killed 2 of my rooting geraniums, but i've been using soap so hopefully that will get rid of them. Well that's it for now. Hi everyone! We are under a winter storm watch here. Suppose to get 20cm of snow and at 7pm Saturday night we were at -25c with a windchill of -40; now we are at -32C with a windchill of -47C!! Youch!We are also under a extreme cold advisory! Da do u think? LOL Got a email from my niece last night and she had to take my sister to the hospital. She had a heart attack. Pat had a stroke a few years ago too and has been living with my niece for the past few years. Apparently she had been getting chest pains, but didn't tell Jenny about it until it got very bad. She is in ICU but they won't do tests until Monday to find out how much and where the damage is. So prayers would be appreciated. I had to call mom and carefully tell her about Pat being in hospital, but I think she took it pretty good. Mom has high blood pressure and heart condition, it runs in the family so I was a bit worried. Pat's blood pressure was up over 200 and is still high, but it has come down a bit, hopefully the docs will adjust her meds to bring it down. Pat is doing better and wasn't on oxygen Saturday. her spirits are good! I have been busy baking baking baking. Made over 30 more butter tarts the other day,,,,tonight I made about 7 dozen of mocha chocolate cookies with walnuts in them....sooooooo good. I'm going to wrap some of them up and put them under the tree for son and g/f,,,,just another gift for them to open up. Son is suppose to come over tomorrow to help hubs shovel out the driveway, I asked him yesterday before we got the storm, so I timed that well. *LOL* He is also going to filet a nice big Lake Trout for dinner. He did one a week ago and it was sooooooo good. I can hardly wait! I have 5 more of them in the freezer too. *L* I don't think he will be able to shovel the driveway if it stays this cold,,,,too darn dangerous, but I'm hoping it will warm up! Here are a couple of Kris Kringles that son and hubs have bought me over the years And stockings we bought when son was about 3 years old. Marcia, have u gotten the floors done? I know that would make u feel so much better if they were done. It was too bad hubs didn't take a pic of that deer,,,wow that sounds so kewl! Do u get deer damage in your garden? That pic u showed of that rose,,,is realllyyy tempting me,,,but I don't have a place for it,,,well not really. And mine seem to get so big!
