Hey All,

We got back from Cancun last Wednesday. It was great, but I got off my diet. Now, I am back on track and need to lose the 2 pounds I gained.

Hugs for your late aunt-hope you made all your travels okay. Great job multi-tasking, BTW! Raeanne: Lots of FLOODING in the NW--but none on the rock, except for the sheer volume on the roofs. Some roofs are failing--like ours--and water is currently pouring down the walls in our business office! The roofer is in there now, trying to fix it. BTW, we took our house off the market until spring. We're taking a mental vacation! Do you think you could send me the 3 foot tall version of the St. Joseph statue for when we put it back on the market???? LOL! I wish your hubby was here to sell it for us. I'd feel a LOT better! Let me know when you go to S.D. if you go in the summer. My in-laws live right by there; I'll fly down and we could rendezvous for a NON-FAT latte. Definately worth the air fare! DonnaSNJ: Most of the Biggest Losers DO NOT maintain their weight. I just read an article on them and it was very disappointing (and sad) to me to read about them and their weight creeping back on. It's a lifetime of a lifestyle---it's HARD! Milkdud- I'd go to the gym if there was a buncha guys there to help me work out!!! I tend to gravitate toward firefighters more than police officers though...(giggle) Okay, ummmm, things I'm doing for me: 1. My family bought me a light box for Christmas and I'm on my 3rd day of using it. It's so dark in the winter on the rock and I live in porched house with very tall trees all around. I cannot tell if the light box is working for a few more days, but it makes me SIT STILL for about 30-45 minutes a day! I actually look forward to it! The light is VERY bright and I like it. 2. I started using Slim Shots and it seems to help to curb my appetite. You can google them if you're interested but basically, it's a combination of oat oil and palm oil in a little cup the size of coffee creamer and you drink one with brekky and--if you want to--one with lunch. Anyway, it seems to help me a lot, so we'll see how it works when the psychological effect wears off in a week! 3. I am also keeping a food diary. I discovered I eat a lot crunchy food like rye toast w/ butter and veggie bootie when I'm stressed---and I am still snacking on the CRUNCHY FOODS when I'm bored, upset, or feel like I want to be a bad girl. I realized from the diary that I was drinking WAY too many lattes per week. I have stopped going to the latte drive thru---BUT when I have company--not very often--it's sort of a Northwest tradition to have a coffee with friends! I also have a late night eating habit that I need to curb. Soooooooooo, I've lost a pound since starting all this and hopefully, a downward trend on the scale will continue. I am making small changes and don't want to DIET because I just set myself up for failure. I will add in some exercise next week and continue to reinforce my 3 New Year's habits. I want to add water, but the water here is positively putrid to drink, and I hate buying bottled---ideas? I watched a great movie last night: PEACEFUL WARRIOR. A must see!

Okay, I got THAT done. I really did read up on the stuff and visited the appliance forum AND took suggestions. So here's what I came up with: Frigidaire Freezer for the pantry (White)- Manual defrost. I'm either going to go with a 20 cu.ft or a 17. I have to measure the space I have. Right now, I have a small chest (freezer that is!) that I am also going to move into my garage in the new place. We have to buy meat and frozen stuff from the mainland and freeze it to cope with prices here! Washer and Dryer: Miele with stands (White). The guy sold me on these. They use very little water and soap and they have a honeycomb interior too, which will really save on the wear and tear of clothes. And they have a pretty huge rebate and energy cash back deal going right now on these. Refrigerator: GE Profile French Door w/ icemaker. (S-Steel) Really nice if you have lots of refer traffic (kids!) like we do. And it's got a nice freezer bottom drawer like my old SubZero, which I loved. (but...I HATE SUBZERO!--arm and a leg to repair! And a ROYAL pain to replace!) I'm also not buying ANYTHING built-in ever again! I got the one with the ice maker in the freezer. They have one with an icemaker and water deal on teh door, but that, for me, is a pain in the neck. The little ones think the water and ice maker are a TOY and I end up cleaning up the mess! No thanks! Microwave: GE Profile Spacemaker (Blk and Stainless): This is such a honey of a microwave!!! You can stop the turntable on it and it fits a 9X11 casserole dish in it or a 20 oz. cuppa coffee! And takes SO little space! I got 2 of these because we are microwave crazy in our house. I'm putting them on a shelf, side by side. Range and Oven (S-Steel) Dacor 38" 6-burner propane and electric: This thing really COOKS! And has convection too. I've had JennAir, Hotpoint, Thermador, etc and this tops them all and is SO easy to clean! Thermador and JennAir are the ones I would NEVER buy again---way too many drawbacks and the downdraft system just drives me NUTS--I will never do downdraft again! Range Hood: 42" Vent-A-Hood (S-Steel): Really SUCKY (and I mean that in a GOOD way!) and QUIET too! Nice design. I got it a little bigger than the stove because that's supposed to keep food smells, etc from wandering out of the kitchen area. Miele Dishwasher (S-Steel): Very cool. Love that the flatware rack is on the top and has its own spray thingy on top and has the ability to wash at 170 degrees. I got the one with the hidden control panel because the babies LOVE to tap, tap, tap on and buttons within their reach! So, anyway, that's what I chose. I'm so glad to be done with that part-my most unfavorite so far. Thanks for the help! It made a difference!

Gooooooooooooood Halloween day to all! I've been up since early and on the go. Our community center had their first ever "Boo Bash" fun-/fundraiser today, and it was a howling success! As the ways & means chairman, I was delighted with the turnout of people and kids dressed up in costumes and spending lots of time and money enjoying themselves! :0 I did a lot of fun Christmas shopping there for those little fun items that are 'extras' that nobody asks for or expects, but that always find a home happily. I also bought a couple of hand-painted items to continue decorating our house. I had a small serving of Frito pie and a diet Dr.Pepper when I finished my shift of tattooing kiddos. Donna, how nice to see you posting, but how frustrating for you with the delay. Maddie, enjoy the musical! Hope Dee's having fun on her vacation. Suzanne, hope you're enjoying your last sunny evening until next spring. Jan, I'd love a bowl of gumbo about now, TYVM! Raeanne, come back and post more - you're missed! Maddie, should we give it a little bit longer to see if anyone else would like to participate in the ornament exchange. It's so much easier to do an ornie than a whole gift box, so maybe we can get a bigger group together. I already have mine, so I can sound all organized and 'together' here! LOL I have a turkey roasting in the oven for our dinner. I decided to change up tradition from chili this year. I also needed to bake this one so that I can start taking advantage of the wonderful turkey sales starting up next week. We love turkey all year 'round. When I was growing up, the ONLY time my mom cooked a turkey was at Thanksgiving, so it still seems a little strange to me to cook one 'just because'. Good SUNDAY morning! DH and I have had our first major 'disagreement' over the placement of several Snow Village houses (lol), so thought it might be a good time to check in. Marci, could you please send me the link to the album? I don't have it marked as a favorite on my home computer. Also, I plan to download some photos of our decorations next week (at home) and want to send them to you for the album. Making a big pot of soup, doing laundry (I miss BJ!), and plan on wrapping some gifts after DH leaves at 1pm for the JETS game. This afternoon I need to run over to Trader Joes for some nice blanched almonds, pecans, and walnuts for my baking. Tomorrow I work from 8-Noon and will do more baking during my 1/2 vacation day. Don't know if I told you guys, but (in the spirit of Diversity) we started a corporate holiday choir and I have a rehearsal tomorrow at 9am; otherwise, I would have taken the entire day off! Good news about having to use some vacation to come in is that they are allowing me to carry over 13 days into next year's time. That gives me 55 days for 2007!! The carryover will come in handy as we are going on an 11-day Holland America cruise on January 6 and taking a week in March for Florida. DH likes winter vacations, and since he truly kicks back when he has the least worries about work, it makes the time away that much nicer. OK, time to get back to DH's way of doing things once I switch another load from washer to dryer. Have a great Sunday. GO JETS -- GO STEELERS (for Marci!)

Hey there, I'm here!

Nothing exciting with my weekend. Got all our tax stuff together for our meeting with the accountant this evening.

DH asked me to help him in the basement on Saturday "for half an hour". OK, 2 hours later we have some new shelving and a bit more de-cluttered. He's a tiny-steps kinda guy. Takes after his mom in some ways. DMIL read the latest "Readers' Digest" about the hoarding disease syndrome. She said "that's like me, but THOSE people are sick!" Clueless!! that's also part of OCD, I guess.

Gotta run to a meeting.

Nothing big to report here either. Had a family party on Sunday and now I am up to my eyeballs in work! (I am loving every minute of it too!)Best thing I ever did for myself was to become a private contractor for home health.

DeeMarie, My DH was always piling things up and I was always throwing them away. One Christmas eve after a party at our home, I threw out a plie of what looked like junk mail into a dumpster. Turns out DHs Christmas bonus check was in that pile of carp! We spent an hour "dumpster diving" by flahlight. Oh holy night indeed! : )

Raeanne, that was Tikanas' party, but WHEW---glad you found that check Tikanas!

Last evening we went to our accountant and discovered that we have some $$$ coming back, even after paying some of DH's 2007 estimated tax. He spent the ride home deciding how to spend it. Silly man.....he still doesn't understand women. I told him not to hightail it out to Circuit City just yet! LOL!!!!!!

Happy THURSDAY!

After almost an hour of a boring overseas teleconference, I promptly lost the resource and planning spreadsheet I was working on. grrrrrr... Thank goodness it was only one therapeutic area and I know that the gal I was speaking with has notes to help me recreate it, but it puts me behind a day. She is 5 hours ahead, so I should have her answers tomorrow morning by the time I get in. sheeesh

Jen/Tikanas, I wish that I still loved my job the way you both do. It gets tedious at times, but the $$ is good, the benefits are over-the-top terrific, and most of the people are lots of fun. Put that together with 55 vacation days this year, and I guess I'm doing OK!

As for the spa thing, I actually have a gift certificate from my eldest stepdaughter that expires in May. It's manicure/pedicure/facial. I will take a day off soon to use that! :0)

Suzanne, I do not envy that snow you are getting.

Jen, keep safe with those awful storms.

We are heading for lots of rain over the next 36 hours, with the accompanying floods. Tomorrow morning I will have to make sure to watch weather and traffic so I can manuver my way to the office while avoiding the water.

TGIF!!!!!!!!!

Just needed to schedule an appointment with that root canal guy who worked on me in Dec/Jan. I lost the filling and have the familiar 'throbbing' that we all know and love with regards to teeth. Does the fun ever end? LOL My only consulation is that by this time tomorrow, I probably will be pain-free.

Donna, the spa is up here in my neck of the woods. I still have not forgotten about getting together with you. Will need to know your schedule this spring, so we can plan a lunch together. Maybe you can come up this way and we can both head up north to meet with Raeanne and Suzanne. We had a great time together!

Gotta run and get some reports completed before I head out to get myself fixed.

QOD: What's going on this weekend?

DH is going to a fishing show in New York State tonight, so I'm gonna watch chick flicks. Tomorrow I get my hair highlighted and then the rest of the weekend will be filled with laundry, cooking, and helping DH here-and-there with our bathroom project.

Donna - thanks for not offering to take the ice and snow off our hands.

It is a mess up here. Started out as snow, to ice and now rain - big slipper slushy mess.

Suzanne - how did you make out - I heard most of NH got about a foot of snow.

QOD - nothing big planned - DD#2 is coming home tonight - so I see some shopping in my future. I am hoping to sneak out of work early tomorrow so we can have some fun.

Dee - I went to the dentist Wednesday - thought I lost a filling but lost part of a tooth..now need build up and a crown, oh joy. You know I definitely want to meet you but I think if we could work a plan where I come up your way and we could connect with Raeanne and Suzanne that would be very cool!

I almost, just almost, feel guilty saying today was a beautiful day in South Jersey, downright spring like. Unfortunately it won't last.

Cancun, wow...I've always wanted to visit Cancun. The closest I ever got to the border was San Diego when I lived in Santa Monica years ago.

Seems like every time I come here, someone mentions my name :) Do I just come at opportune times, or do you really think of me that often?

How long has BJ been missing? She was missing last time I came by, too. Has she been by since then?

Does anyone watch the anime films? Has anyone watched Howl's Moving Castle? It's my favorite movie now since the first Superman with Chris Reeve.

I'm not sure if I can say I've made much progress with anything. Well, my garden is going well, and I've added zinnias, and I have butterflies that like to come and visit - nothing exotic, just monarch, swallowtails, and cabbage butterflies. I have giant african snails, too, about 5 inches long, but I don't like those so much. And I found a cane spider the size of a dinner plate - outside at least.

Well, I just wanted to say hi. I'll try to get back and read more. I know I always say that. I frequent so many forums now, it's hard to keep up, and it takes time to keep the one I have going, too.

This weekend I hope to paint and work in photoshop on a stained glass pattern for Myst Online. Myst Online has become one of my other worlds now. :) My son even sent me a book on designing virtual worlds.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a very nice celebration. I left work several hours early and spent the day with DD#2. We mostly shopped and she made out like it was her birthday LOL - I did manage to get a nice pair of tiger patterned peeka-boo toe shoes (they sound tackier than they are LOL). DD#1 had flowers delivered to my office - so that was a nice surprise. DH gave me some spa treatments so I can indulge in a day of beauty. We had a lovely dinner at a favorite restaurant.

Marci - thank you for the decorations - how appropriate.

Zig - you make me feel so special.

Amy - I am honored that you should happen to pop in at my birthday - it is always good to hear from you.

Donna - thank you, I did enjoy the day even with the leftover ice and snow haha.

Sorry for all you wonderful people out there who are having the snow. I cannot and will not complain about the south florida weather in winter. (however, I do have a sweater on today)
