(AKA Liddybuff) Lilypad, Just as a followup. You will find that if you sew your seams in certain sequences it will become easier. Eliminate trying to sew seams in really tight areas. For instance, when making pants, I sew the 2 fronts together at the front seam, then the 2 backs at the center back seam THEN sew the inseam together by beginning at the inside pants cuff edge...go up to the crotch seam...and back down to the other pants cuff edge. Then I sew the hem for the legs and last but not least sew up the side seams joining front to back. If you have ever tried to hem Barbie pants AFTER the seams are in place you will see why I do this in this order. (unless you want to hem by hand) Make sure to leave your placket open in front or back for fastening. If you are using elastic I would apply it before sewing up the back seam. Then when you do sew that seam you can include the elastic with it in your seam. You have probably finished the project you were on when you wrote this but i may help or someone else in the future.

I was about 55 before I finally had my own sewing room!!! The up side is that it has 2 windows so it is bright and sunny. The down side is that it has 2 windows and it is bright and sunny lol!!!!! It is about 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house and I have black out curtains to try and reduce the heat in the hot and humid southern summer (and a ceiling fan!). I can look out my window and see my rose garden, one gorgeous pink and yellow bush has about 30 blooms on it right now. I had probs growing roses in Florida and they love this Georgia climate. It is small and I would love to have the whole garage to myself, but I can open the door and listen to the TV, and I can close the door when it is in a mess (always!). Rosa

Well, let's see... My machine quilting threads are on a wall-mount thread rack. It's overfilled and I need to get another one. Those bobbins are stored in rubber rings, usually hanging on one of the pegs. My serger threads are scattered on a few small decorative shelves over one of my tables. There's not enough room, really, but it's all I have. I piece with these threads, so they're close. These bobbins reside in a tableside basket with my most used tools. My embroidery threads are stored in 12" thread boxes with clear lids. The 3 boxes sit on top of each other behind my embroidery machine. I have a plastic hinged-lid box with some misc. Coats & Clark that I did out of the closet for garment sewing. These bobbins are on a different colored rubber ring that stays with them. I also have a huge collection of older, larger industrial spools of cotton threads. I don't use these much anymore and have considered just tossing them. It seems a bit wasteful, even though I don't use them, so they stay in a shelf/drawer that hangs on the closet system. I think that's about what I have. And today I've realized that I need a few more! LOL

I think think that's a really good price. I bought one a few years back that wasn't quite as big, and did not have the hydraulic lift for around $450. I've been very happy with it. When I bought mine, I gave them the model of machine I'd be using in it and the plastic opening was made to fit. Not knowing anyone who could make me a custom built one, this was the way to go. Also, it's a lot nicer than my old set up, where I had my machine sitting on top of my old Singer cabinet--a lot easier on my back.
