Ok!

New week, new goals. Let's see what we can accomplish. Slow starts, off the wagons, ambivalents.... ALL welcome here!

DeeMarie, poor baby.. Schlepping the chicken soup your way!

Add lots of acidic foods or liquids to the diet to help with the UTI. ( listen to this nurse now...) A couple of tsps of raw cider vinegar in hot water every morning ( in fact, before each meal) will add enough acidity to your system to combat UTIs. ( I live with his problem) Plus!!! If taken with a meal (or before) it will slow the intake of carbs to the blood stream thus slowing its conversion to fat. Feel better, everybody!!

Thank you Tikanas for starting us off this week. I think I fit almost all the catagories you listed. LOL Just can't seem to get my "food program planets" in order. I continue to try though. Didn't help that DH came home with Pecan Sandies and wasn't quick enough putting them away before I saw them. At least I only ate three. Hopefully the package will be gone tomorrow between DS and DH.

I did move more last week but could still do a lot better. Watching Nationals on television has whetted my appetite for skating again. If only my darn shoulder/bicep thing would get completely healed. I think I might go skate next week (just round and round). I need my left arm to spin and jump (in my case more of a hop,lol). I can't believe how competitive skaters continue on with stress fractures and such. But then I'm not 20 years old. If I broke something today itwould have life-long consequences.

DeeMarie, hope you're better soon. Nothing like a double-whammy of ills to get one down. Get lots of rest,fluids and drink some cranberry juice.

I have been under the weather but not as bad as Dee! It's been hard to eat well, and get over this. I think I'm coming out of it a bit today, but still sneezing my head off. Bodily, I feel better; more energy today.

I am stocked up on healthy foods at the office.

They are remodeling, and moving cubes, and tearing out walls, so that is certainly not helping my body.

In addition, we have gone from 15Â° last weekend, to 60Â° today, to predicting ice this coming weekend. It's no wonder we're having trouble staying on top of our health!!!

Hi Ya Gang! I should not have a head on my shoulders after last night's team night out....I drank (would not even begin to guess the points and ate italian.....). Sometimes ya just have to get it out of your system and judging by my body today - I got it ALL out! Bought a bag of prepared mixed frozen fruit on the way in today and had it during the morning - it was heaven after that heavy food last night. Funny how you can get used to lighter meals. Did have 3 slices of pizza at lunch and that is all the food I have had today. There is a GIANT GREEN SALAD in the fridge at home with my name all over it. I can't wait to get my shorts, exercise top, plug into my tunes and get shaking. Yes my waist gets sore and some other muscles on my butt....but....if I get back at the exercise I FEEL B E T T E R !!!!!! Physically and mentally. I just love tuning out and tuning into 80s pop, rock and anything with a good beat to it. I think once I get used to this I am going to look into weighted wrist bands so I can move my arms more too. Lots of work on the leg muscles and oddly enough - as much as it's a muscular workout - waist down - my cardio is not killing me - I can breath comfortably and have a light level of persperation. I am really doing something like a power walk and nothing more at this stage. I want this to be fun. Something I look forward to - followed by a heavenly shower and nice, fresh, soft PJs and a GOOD BOOK (and lots of water of course!). Okay, it's been a rough week with my food habits but a very good week shaking it - not bad overall. Now I just have to get the food sorted again and things should start toning. I don't care about the scales at this point - I will be watching where the inches move and how my clothes feel. Muscle weighs more than fat - I will be using the mirror as well to judge the difference and also how well I can cope with stairs (great measurement tool). So, lets get moving! C'mon! Don't worry about your ups and downs - you are still here posting and you will be successful so long as you don't quit. We are not in the olympics - we are taking better care of ourselves for a change. There is no clock to reach our goals - I don't use one other than a motivator and mental guide - I will persist for however long it takes and keep trying to reach smaller achievable goals - like more exercise, or adding more fruit to my daily meals. I like the grocery list planning - great tool and helps you think ahead and keeps you focussed. Would love to hear how the yogurt turns out. Mirren - don't despair! Keep posting. DeeMarie - where are you???? Yoooouuuuuu Hooooooooooooo!? Teressa - looking forward to your favourite recipes with your new toy. Kathy - one of these days I'm coming over to do some shopping with ya! Just love hunting through those shops! Yellowhair, Wildchild - HI YA!!!!!! I tell ya what - let's make a deal - or this is the offer - I will tell ya once I receive those cinnamon toothpicks. I will send anyone who has been faithfully participating for a week a pack for great effort! I am serious. Hello everyone! I feel back in the groove! Drinking lots of liquids and counting every point, down the 1/2 point!! Only used 4 flex points this week. Have a luncheon meeting where the agenda states "pizza and wings". Pooh! I brought in a zip-lock bag of celery and cherry tomatoes to have before I go in (or I'll bring it along). One slice of that pizza they serve is 6 points, so I should be OK. Had 2-points of yogurt for breakfast, and I also brought a 1-point banana for later this afternoon (before my exercise class). On the pampering front, I've not gotten to it yet, but tonight, I plan to give myself a pedicure while watching the final American Idol show. (OK, I'll admit that I watch it!) Two years ago, DH gave me one of those wax machines that you put your hands or feet into...I'm gonna use that before my polish. Then before I go to bed, I'll put on heavy foot cream and cotton socks so that I am ready for sandals this year! Hoping that with my weight loss, I can start getting prettier shoes that have a younger look!! Gotta run and take this phone call. Why does business get in the way of my stuff? LOL!!!

Wheeewwwww, am I GLAD Monday is coming! Friday night - out with my aunt...ever feel that you are participating just to appease family politics? Don't get me wrong - she is a wonderful lady but body language speaks volumes...she looked at her friend all night and barely gave me a glance. Last time for me. Called DH today at his folks and told him as much as I enjoyed myself I really felt like she was having a night out with me to check in on things. Okay, call me bad, but I would have been happier at home. It's keeping DH happy and the family. Turned my phone off - 7 phonecalls last week with everyone checking up on me - couldn't even sit down to eat and that darn phone kept ringing. Sat. afternoon, got invited for a light lunch with our new neighbours - very nice folk - enjoyed it and sat out. Today had dinner with friends (b-day for them). Enjoyed it. Somehow managed to get the bathroom painted. Now have the kitchen to do. Threw 7 bags of compost down on the front lawn, raked it in with 2 bags of grass seed and did another planter in the front. Having all out war this summer with SLUGS - they have been unusually bad - so bad I have been out with garden tools and SALT hunting them out. Actually got bio-friendly, less chemicals, slug pellets. I have worked too hard and have invested time and money enough not to have those critters eat my plants. So that has been me and I have been neglecting this post. Tomorrow I will be getting ready to start another week and SEND OUT CINNAMON FLAVOURED TOOTHPICKS!!!!! Send me an email with your details and I will send you a lovely little packet of toothpicks to chew on...they are sheer heaven! Really happy to hear of great doctor appointments, weight loss. I think I have gained with all of this entertaining. This week promises to be quieter and I should be getting back into a better routine! Take care, gotta get this butt in bed! McPeg

Well, I lost a little bit this last week.....it's a wonder with having visitors here and eating cornbread! I have no excuse for not 'moving' around.....I found a Fit channel on TV....exercise 24/7! Now to find something my body will accept! Guess I'll set up a spreadsheet for recording what I eat. Maybe I'll put down the time, too. I don't eat on a regular basis. Today, I was up at 6 and I'm still working on coffee. I don't have breakfast til around 9:30 or 10 and by then, it's brunch, right? SharonG/FL

Oh no DeeMarie!
Hi Wildchild, are you ice skating? Hope you soon can but don't rush it. I get the urge to roller skate but the slow wooden floors are gone and replaced by slick surfaces and my youth has been replaced by fear of falling.
Tikanas if I get too much acid, I turn into an itchy fool and one orange a day over a week will do it.
You can buy cranberry tablets in health food stores if you can't stomach that much juice.
I am BOT (back on track) Thank goodness.
Eating the overpriced eggs in a carton for breakfast. 1/2 cup has no cholesterol and 60 calories. I put frozen peppers and onions (precook a little) in them and top it with overpriced ff cheese (you gotta pay to play!) Makes a great breakfast with a little salt and cracked pepper on top.
Yesterday I made sweet potato chips. Baked in the oven. They weren't Lays but they weren't bad. I don't think they would ever get really crispy until they were burned. The worst part was trying to cut them thin enough. Brought back memories of making regular potato chips when we were kids and wait - we had a chip slicer! Called mom and it was loaned to a cousin (it also sliced cabbage for sauerkraut) so I hope it comes back home.
Yesterday I had a tough hungry evening and I was thankful I had made sf jello last night.
Well better get something done today - thank goodness there is no more snow to shovel off the driveway.

Thanks for your support, ladies. I'm feeling a bit better, and off to the doctor at 12:30. I need a followup to be sure.

Tikanas, I'm not sure I'll be able to find the 'raw' cidar vinegar, but if not, I may try those cranberry pills.

Last night, DH went out to a diner with his brother for dinner. He brought me back a big container of hot chicken noodle soup...the very best medicine in the world. I took my pills and went to bed!! Staying within points, but not sure I'll lose any weight this week with my system so 'off'. Not concerned as health is more important that the stupid scale! LOL

I was thinking this morning that I've had my best results with successful, healthful eating when I planned carefully. Going to the grocery store AFTER you have planned the upcoming week is the very best gift you can give yourself. Then, if there is an impromtu (sp?) night out, it's not so bad. I've had some down time here to plan my shopping list for this weekend, so I should be OK next week!

DeeMarie, I hope that you are feeling better. I agree, planning before hitting the store really helps! My son LOVES to just throw stuff into the cart willy- nilly. ARGGGH! Raw cider vinegar availiable at most health food stores. I became a believer after reading that book you sent me on "good carbs". : )

It's a chicken soup kinda day here too... I am going to take a nice nap before running my errands and work. Feeling a bit under the weather.
