I am also searching for the Old Macdonalds farm pattern. I had it and made a very beautiful stitching for my niece, and now I can no longer find the pattern. If you were able to find the pattern could use please drop me a note to let me know where you found it please?

I have a doll that was knit with that pattern, and I think this one is very close...http://www.gailsdollpatterns.com/PatternFree_4.html if you found the original let me know I am also looking.

Is this what you saw in the quilt shop? The quilt to the right is "Autumn Braid," but the page mentions the same quilt done up in spring colors. Here is a link that might be useful: Spring Braid

If you make a copy of one of these designs and give it to a friend, I'm pretty sure there aren't any legal problems to worry about. If you are making money using someone else's patented design or copyrighted images or copyrighted names, that's where the legal problems begin. What the law pays attention to is whether the copyright holder or patent holder is harmed by your actions. If you are making money, then there's a case to be made that the "owner" is being harmed. The details of these laws are more complex, but that's the core issue the law takes into account: is the owner harmed? And that's why you probably won't be able to find a commercial pattern for the patent pending design, because someone selling a pattern for a copy of one of these designs would be making money. Looking at those ponchos, there are some slight differences in designs. The busy baby wrap looks a lot like Butterick 4356, View D, but with the last bit of the sleeve opening left unstitched. This is just a long rectangle folded in half with a seam along just part of one edge, where the two edges meet. There's no *cut* neck opening: http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4356=x&TI='4356'&page=1 See also McCall's 4840, View C. http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4840.htm Or Vogue 8122, View D: http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/voguepatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.V8122=x&TI='poncho'&page=1 The "love the baby" design looks like an almost "fat" rectangle with a sort-of-round hole in the middle. Here's one to consider, with some modification, McCall's 4228, View A. Instead of making the longest edge of the poncho run along the shoulder lines, turn the fabric 90 degrees so that the longest edges are on the front and back of the wearer, and then cut the side-to-side neck opening. The "sleeves" will be shorter. Pick a different fabric - fleece is probably too hot! But a nice cotton knit might work just fine: http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4228.htm The difference for the nursing poncho compared to regular poncho patterns is that the poncho is longest on the front, rather than the sides where the arms go. It may be a bit longer on the front than that back, too. I think part of the "trick" to these is making the neck opening large enough to Mom can look in on the baby, and the baby can get some air, but the neck opening is still just small enough that the poncho doesn't slip off Mom's shoulders. In that respect, the neck openings on the nursing ponchos are probably a bit larger than a poncho you would make as a keep-warm garment. That, and a nursing poncho needs to be made out of a relatively light fabric so the baby doesn't overheat. Good luck! CMC PS: Go to the Butterick, McCalls, and Simplicty websites and try searching for the word poncho. There are quite a few patterns for inspiration.
