LOOKING for: recipes made with prepackaged brownie mix

I'm looking for a way to use a bunch of packaged brownie mixes other than just plain. spice them up or make something else with them.

can anyone help?

Wow Ginger - 46! I'm not going to browse through all 46 to see if this recipe is in there, but here's one that I've made and its pretty good.

Caramelized Brownies
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen

1 package chewy brownie mix (recommended: Duncan Hines)
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Prepare the brownie mix according to the package directions. Pour batter into a greased 9 by 13-inch pan.

Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Add the pecans and sugar and cook, over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sugar dissolves. Drizzle the caramel mixture over brownie batter and bake until a toothpick can be inserted and withdrawn cleanly, 25 to 30 minutes.

It seems odd that powdered cocoa can taste the same of as a very dark chocolate. I used Lindt 90% bar, because I did not like eating it that much. I used less sugar because I don't like things too sweet, I used unsalted butter, half a pound, 2 eggs, a cup of flour, baking powder, a package of walnuts. It's a basic recipe that you can find on line called basic brownies or best brownies or something like that. I found the more flour you add that more it tastes like cake, the less flour the more it tastes like fudge, so you have to find a happy middle ground. If one uses cocoa powder do they need more butter? I have bough cocoa powder to use on another experiment or maybe I will make chocolate cake next time. The pans from King Arthur flour are really good. They are metal pans, but so much better than those cheap metal pans they sell at the grocery store. My first time I used Pyrex glass bake ware and they were all dried up. Never bake brownies in glassware. And Lindt now has a 99% bar thatÂs crazy, you know, but I never liked bitter sweet chocolate, the kind you buy as bakers chocolate, so that is why I used an eating bar, but there are other good brands. I also like GreenÂs Organic dark chocolate and New Tree Dark chocolate. There is something really bitter in bitter sweet chocolate, that people have to put too much sugar to over compensate for the bitter taste. Or maybe itÂs just cheaper grade then getting the gourmet bars. I never liked Hersey chocolate at all.

This one is a soft, firm cookie-very rich-I use them plain or as the base for Choc Whoopie pies--- Diane's Home Cookin 4.8 Chapter: Cookies Chocolate Sour Cream Drops ========================== 2 eggs 1 Cup sugar 1 Cup packed brown sugar 1 Teaspoon Vanilla 1 Cup dairy sour cream Â½ c. butter or margarine, melted Â½ c. shortening, melted 2 Â½ c. flour 1 Cup cocoa 1 Teaspoon Baking powder Â½ tsp. Baking soda 1 Cup chopped walnuts -optional . Preheat oven to 325 Â°-grease cookie sheets. Cream eggs, sugar & vanilla. Blend in sour cream, butter & shortening. Combine flour,cocoa, baking powder and baking soda-add to sugar mixture. Stir in nuts if using. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased sheet. Bake 12 min or until just set-cool slightly ;remove from sheet to wire rack until cooled completely. Servings: 48 Original recipe from Brand Names Cookie Collection book This one is a bit different from the normal "brownie" but nice looking & great tasting bar. Diane's Home Cookin 4.8 Chapter: Cookies-bar Fudgy Brownie Bar ================= 1/4 Cup sugar Â½ Cup margarine 1 14 ounce Can sweetened condensed milk 1/4 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 egg 1 Teaspoon Vanilla 1-1/4 Teaspoons Baking powder 1 8 ounce Bar milk choc candy bar , broken into small pieces 3/4 Cup chopped nuts or crisped rice cereal confectioner's sugar. Preheat oven to 350Â°. Combine 1 cup flour & sugar; cut in margarine until crumbly. Press evenly on bottom of 13 x 9 x 2 in. Baking pan. Bake 15 minutes In large bowl beat sweetened condensed milk, egg, cocoa, remaining 1/4 cup flour, vanilla & baking powder. Stir in nuts or crisped cereal & choc candy bar pieces. Spread over baked base. Bake 20 minutes longer. Cool & dust with confectioner's sugar. Servings: 24

Not up to making the wonderful "scratch" brownies above? Try these with either Pillsbury Brownie Classics - Traditional Fudge or Duncan Hines Family-Style Brownies. Both these mixes make a 9 x13 inch pan of brownies and directions call for the addition of eggs, oil and water. Cheesecake Marble Brownies 8 oz. package cream cheese or Neufchatel cheese, softened to room temperature 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon real vanilla extract 1 egg One 9 x 13 inch fudge brownie mix plus eggs, water and oil per package directions Prepare filling by beating cream cheese and sugar together until smooth - no lumps of cream cheese. Beat in vanilla and egg. Cover and chill filling until ready to finish brownies. Preheat oven and prepare pan per directions on brownie mix. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions and spread in pan. Spoon filling onto brownie mix in 3 or 4 longitudinal stripes. Using a circular motion with a fork, fold some of brownie batter over the filling, working down each stripe. Then move the fork across the stripes crosswise, back and forth, to create swirls. Don't overdo it. Bake according to package directions, but a few minutes longer. Pale filling will be very slightly browned near the edges of the pan when brownies are done. You can prepare a double recipe in a 1/2 size sheet cake pan (about 10 x 17 inches), baking a little longer than directed on the brownie mix. Make sure the pan fits in your oven with a little room to spare first. If you have to bake a lot of brownies in a hurry, you can bake nut brownies or plain brownies for the kids on the upper shelf of the oven and the marble brownies on the lower shelf. The marble brownies take a little longer to bake. I recently goofed up and used only one egg instead of four in a double recipe of the marble brownies, but the adults in the crowd still loved them. I guess "gooey" does have some appeal at times. Kids tend to prefer plain brownies, though.

I think I posted the recipe for these before... They are really good, IMHO, and I'm not usually a big brownie or peanut butter fan.

I got this one years ago off the side of a Betty Crocker Supreme Brownie mix. It's really good and I make it regularly.

OATMEAL BROWNIES

2-1/2 cups oatmeal, uncooked
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 pkg. brownie mix + ingredients needed on box
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350Â° F. Grease bottom only of 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan. Mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and baking soda; stir in margarine. Reserve 1 cup of the oat mixture. Press remaining oat mixture in prepared pan. Bake 10 minutes; cool 5 minutes. Prepare brownies as directed on package; stir in nuts. Spread over baked oat layer; sprinkle with reserved oat mixture. Bake 35-40 minutes; cool. Cut into bars. Yield: 48 brownies.

~*~*~Black Forest Brownies~*~*~

1pkg (21oz.) brownie mix
1 can(21 oz)Cherry Pie filling,divided
Â¼ c. oil
2 eggs
1-Â¼ c. semi-sweet choc. Chips
Vanilla ice cream

Mix together browie mix,1 cup pie filling.oil & eggs.
Pour into a 13-inch x 9 inch. Baking pan. Bake 350Â°
For 30-35 min or until done.Remove from brownies
from oven; sprinkle with choc. Chips.Spread choco.
With a knife when melted.Let cool:cut into squares.
Top with Vanilla ice cream & remaining pie filling.

There are a few recipes like that on this site, http://www.howdididoit.com which is a fairly neat site.
I am looking for a good recipe for lemon curd if anyone has one. I've found a few but they are not so tart as I would like them to be.

Barbi, Paula Deane just had another brownie recipe:
Mix brownies according to pkg. directions. Place half of mixture into a prepared pan. Top with (3) Giant candy bars (ie; Hersheys milk choc.)Spread remaining batter on top and bake according to directions. They looked really yummy! Gina

Barbi, I do the same thing as Gina has listed above but I use a full brownie mix on the bottom and another full mix on the top. DH loves it when I use the Hershey Symphony bars with the bits of toffee in them.

I found this one today and need to send it to my daughter in law:
Brownie Peanut Butter Cups
15 oz pk Brownie mix
1/3c very hot water
1/4c oil
1 egg
12 miniature peanut butter cups
Preheat oven to 350Â°. Line 12 muffin cutps with baking cups.Combine brownie mix, water, oil, and egg. Beat 50 strokes.
Fill muffin cups 2/3 full.Press peanut butter cup into batter until top edge of candy is even with batter. Bake for 20-30 minutes until brownie is set.
Cool.

My mom makes this and it is delicious and easy. I'm sure you could use homemade ingredients rather than store bought items if you wanted to. If you want to make a big bowl of this for a crowd I would double it.

Death by Chocolate Trifle
--------------------------
1 box of brownies made according to the box and cut into small pieces
2 boxes chocolate mousse (prepared)
1 large tub cool whip
2-3 Scor or Heath toffee bars broken into small pieces

In a large bowl layer brownies, then mousse, then cool whip, sprinkle with toffee bits, and continue to layer until out of ingredients.

I'm thinking of making brownies in a muffin tin. Filling partially with brownie batter, adding a little cherry pie filling & then topping with more brownie batter. Has anyone tried this & how did they turn out?
