Do your light fixtures NOT match the finish on your faucets?
Comments (14)Hi Sorry, I don't have any pics. I'm in the middle of a bath remodel but I will have chrome bathroom faucets. My vanity light is matte black and I will have 2 wall sconces that are matte black with brushed nickel accents. I have a couple of bathroom accessories that are chrome and brushed nickel also. I'm hoping it will all blend. I know I must be breaking all kinds of design rules but I did my best picking this stuff out and trying to keep within my budget:)...See MoreRooms w/ vastly varying heights in ceilings/heights?
Comments (1)You need an architect. Preferably one local to your build. You've succumbed to the usual amateur mistake of designing a floorplan, not a house....See MoreDo I paint inside closets the same color as room?
Comments (41)phyllis, yes, this was fun to read. we are building a house, I picked out a light camel color for the walls. i went to the house and the builder had the painter paint EVERYTHING that color! Walls, ceilings, closets, shelving, everything. After a few weeks of going back and forth to check other things that were going on, we decided to have them paint the ceilings white. (I just couldnt stand everything the same color) A painful decision, as we are having to pay for this even though our builder never asked about the ceilings, and I assumed I picked the "wall" color for the walls. I figured ceilings were white as a given. Now, after reading this thread, I realize that the closets should have been white too! All of my closets in my current home are bright, white and pretty! If he had asked me, I would have said white. They could have sprayed the trim, ceiling and walls in the closets the white they used on all the trim in the house. Easy. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.......See MoreMultiple rugs in the same room...your thoughts?
Comments (13)Yes I think multiple rugs can work, and I have done this myself. For some reason, I do think the equation gets trickier with runners. I don't have any runners for this very reason. When you walk through our formal entry, you are standing in the foyer looking straight ahead at the Great Room/Living Room and Dining Room. One big space but the foyer is defined visually by reclaimed beams. I have a 5x8 rug in foyer, a huge custom rug in Great Room that is made from carpet, and another rug in Dining Room that is an 8x10. None of the rugs match (although the rug in Great Room is same leopard carpet I have in my Office.) I think it looks fine, BUT the Dining Room rug is really not visible unless you are standing along perimeter of GR/DR. I plan on replacing the DR rug (which I had before we built), because: 1)it is too small for my table when the extra leaf is used 2) Would prefer to use lighter colors and a different pattern. Point being that even though I don't like it, I think it works and when it is replaced it will be with something that is different than the other 2 rugs in eyesight. May I draw your attention to that damn coffee table I'm always bragging about, LOL...See MoreRelated Professionals
