Wolf double oven vs JennAir 3830 V2
Comments (3)Normally, as Diego puts it, I would be a "Contrarian" but given only the 2 choices, I would go with wolf. We've already seen a member of the Jenn-Air Family, Kitcheaid, have many problems with their ovens during self clean. It either blows a thermal fuse, but in a good many cases has fried the circuit board too. Now you add even more electronics in there LCD sceen etc etc, and I think you are asking for trouble. Perhaps time will prove us wrong, but I would not volunteer to be the Gineau Pig (SP). To be fair , all double ovens have complaints about blowing circuit boards after cleaning,(Even Wolf). but KA wins this contest "Hands Down". There are Ovens that are "In Between", Just the Basics (A La Wolf) and something with not quite the bells and whistles of the JA, but since that was not what the post is about, We'll keep quiet about it. Enjoy your ovens, what ever selection you make, We all hope it works out for you!!! Gary...See MoreWolf or Viking Rangetop and Double Ovens?
Comments (14)thanks for everyones opinions! my wife and I have been members of this forum for only a week and have been reading/reviewing and thinking about posting new questions all the time. I can't believe we haven't used a home forum like this before. I think (for now) we are going with a Capital Culinarian 48"; 6 burner with griddle. I'm a little skeptical about the open burner, but my wife is convinced the extra cleaning effort is well worth the cooking performance....this choice is mainly being made off of reviews we have read and talking with sales staff at AJ Madison (NYC). We have no experience working with an open burner....is it worth it? What are the benefits? We're still not sure about the wall ovens...we're now looking at Capital, Wolf, Bosch, and Viking. Gaggenau looks really nice, but is very pricey. Any thoughts on these brands? I'm thinking we will buy a double in lieu of (2) singles....i've read that if a double breaks down they will both be effected. Overall, i think we are moving away from Viking. In terms of cooking we have (3) kids under 10 and entertain a fair amount. At least twice a month we throw/host a get together. We have a pile of family who visit our house and we are always cooking/prepping food. My wife has a very busy work schedule so we end up cooking much more on the weekends when we have more time to spend in the kitchen. My wife has taken a few culinary classes (several months each) and is eager to experiment with new methods. I usually play the support role with her in the kichen (chopping/washing/cleaning,etc), and of course eating more than my share!...See MoreWolf/Viking Gas Infrared Broiler v. Electric Broiler: Fish
Comments (7)I do have to share one additional experience with the IR broiler. I once broiled some salmon and left it in just a little too long and it looked burnt. The marinade/cure for the fish did have a fair amount of sugar in it, but was wiped off before hitting the broiler. I took a nibble of the crust and it didn't taste burnt so I served it, because the rest of the fish was really moist. Afterwards, my wife commented that the best part of the fish was that "burnt" crust. I had to agree because that crust was like eating a toasted fish "cracker" or "chip." I didn't use a dry rub, so that crust was all fish....See MoreViking Electric Oven - Anyone Happy? (27" Oven needed)
Comments (2)I would write off Viking. Their current owners are embattled with the previous owners over the sale of the company and its condition at the point of sales. Reports of service recently have not been promising either. I have an older 27" oven from Miele. It is over 10yrs old and my cabinet can accommodate a 30" model. I am not sure I would buy a 27" as a replacement. If I were in your shoes, I would replace it with a 30". Good luck!...See Moreella_socal
