Lemons from lemonade?

DH just called from our building site. A neighbor's tree fell across our garden shed, which we had been refurbishing a bit. It was in good shape. Legally we are responsible for the damage to our property. And we don't want to file a claim with our homeowner's insurance--leads to premium adjustments; we're going to be complicating things enough doing a teardown and having them insure both now, during the transition, and the future house, etc.

So, the bad thing is we now have a tree to clean up; more demolition work and hauling off to pay for; and probably $3K added to the construction budget to replace the shed. Which means, $3K taken OUT of our house budget. What luxury feature will we forfeit? We have no luxury features! (We don't have access to any more money. The budget is the budget--for everything.)

So, for all of you who have had to make lemonade from lemons, I just wanted to post this and tell you about lemonade. Here's the good news: The shed was putting restrictions on where we could site DH's big woodworking shop, a prefab to be erected out back. And that was putting some restrictions on where we could grade to handle drainage. SO, now we're totally free in our site planning. Isn't that GREAT??!!
