Need a Skeleton for a Greeting Card??

See link below to the Ben & Jerry Ice Cream site. It has a cute skeleton that you can print, cut out, and assemble. I'm going to put mine inside a greeting card, but I can also visualize it being used on a mobile along with bats, a witch, moon, etc.

If you're going to make a mobile, you could copy the whole picture of the bones, duplicate it and flip it, and then you could make a double-sided skeleton. Not necessary, but possible.

I put my skeleton together with waxed dental floss (very easy to thread a needle with that stuff - LOL!). I left the thread loops just a bit loose so the bones could jiggle.

There are also a 'Glynda the Witch' and a Victorian house to copy, cut out and assemble at the same site.

Assembled, mine is about 8-1/2" from top of skull down to boney toes. Of course he 'folds' up well with all those loose joints, so will fit inside a regular greeting card.

Got any good ideas on the verse part to go with a skeleton? This is for my 90 year old Mother who has Alzheimer's Disease, so I know the verse doesn't really matter, but I still like it to be sensible to others who may see the card. And I may make another one for my grandsons (preschool age up to first grade).

Linda, I was determined to figure out how to paste a picture to my card program, I could have drove 22 miles and to and back home with a card before I finished this one. But, now I have a personalized card with a picture that I had no access to before today for a card. I have found that many of the pictures are tiny postage size snapshots and when you enlarge the picture so much that the quality of picture is not good. Also when I right click to copy that on a lot of the pictures I was not allowed to right click and copy. Then trying to get the picture into the picture album so that I could select it was a chore. I guess I thought I knew more than I do... I did get the card made. Lora

I would gather ideas first. And check what paper items you may already have in the house. any decorative paper or even scrap of material. Practice using a plain paper cut to card size and start layering some of the snippets on it to form an attractive background. Then find a cute pictre of an animal or flower and carefully cut it out and glue it to the front. If you have a nice handwriting write a saying on the front. see how it looks. Then when you go to the store get a little pack of plain notecards with envelopes usually found in the card making area. look at the rubber stamps and pick out a general one that you could use on a lot of different cards and then get a black rubber stamp pad. Take those home and try the sme practice method with those. Then you can expand your supplies Hope this helps.

The napkin had two layers... the printed color layer, kinda bonded to a plain white layer so it had more substance than some paper napkins. I left the layers together. The glue I used was Elmer's Washable School Glue 'No Run Gel' - the light blue stuff. I ran a thin bead all around the edges of the backside of the picture, and made a few squiggles in the center area, then used a soft flat paintbrush to smear/paint the glue to the edges and moosh it around in the middle. The glue did NOT grab immediately, giving me some leeway in ooching the design into place. I had thought of using spray-on adhesive, but with that type of glue, once you drop the picture in place, that is where it STAYS! No room for error with most of it. Glad you liked the card. I hope it inspires you to look at your stash of pretty napkins and make a card, too!

Thnaks, everyone! I think Mom will enjoy it.

I finished the card and mailed it. But I also posted pictures and hints on how to decorate it on the Paper Crafts Forum (see link below).

I used this on the front of the card... "Shake, Rattle and Roll this Hallowe'en" and just put a big "BOO" inside. Nothing too scary for little ones or the elderly!
