36' dual range with indoor grill- best brand?
Comments (2)Don't forget that you'll have to significantly upgrade your ventilation to deal with a grill. That's an expense and design consideration that many people don't realize until too late in the process. Firepower and proper ventilation go hand in glove when considering range placement, BTU's, and other features like a grill. Grills can be useful, but you need a LOT more ventilation for them than you will just plain high BTU burners. In some climates, you'll also need makeup air to go along with that ventilation. So, you need to understand all of the elements that go along with your wish list....See MoreBest Range all gas...grill top or not
Comments (16)My entire county now requires heated make up air. Neighboring counties also have the same requirements and I have heard the rest of this state (Michigan) will follow suit. Discharging the makeup air into the return ducts without conditioning first is not allowed here. Many have reported than most counties in Minnesota follow the same code and it is likely that most colder weather climates will do the same. I called several contractors and installed price was close to 7k. Besides the initial expense this unit draws a whopping 10,000 watts when running. I wonder how much it costs to run a 10,000 watt appliance for a couple hours? Here is an interesting read about makeup air. http://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/blogs/dept/musings/makeup-air-range-hoods If anyone thinks their furnace can keep up with dumping 1200 cfm into the return ducts, think about it this way. Lets assume you have a 2400 square foot house with 10 foot ceilings. Thats 24,000 cubic feet. Your 1200 cfm fan will replace all of the air in your house in 20 minutes. Can your furnace keep up with that? If you are in a cold weather climate you will either have to buy the 7,000 dollar unit, or buy a bigger furnace....See More36" gas or dual fuel range... best value?
Comments (7)Most modern ovens have a lot of insulation and a lot of thermal mass to heat up. To get all that heated requires at least 20 minutes on most any oven. Sure, you can get the "air" to 350ð in 10 minutes, but put in something cold, and that drops it way down. You have to wait until the whole mass of the oven heats up if you want to avoid that temperature drop. That means 20-30 minutes. It's a lot more important for baking than roasting, but it can really screw your timing up for that as well if you don't wait for the full preheat....See More36" gas ranges good for wok cooking
Comments (2)BlueStar is about as good as you can get for a residential unit. You’re not getting a 45K BTU burner. Or the issues that those come with. The best wok cooking units that have the least effect on your budget are exterior propane fired single burner units. The type of BTU output on something like that can’t be equaled in a home without a commercial fire suppression system and massive make up air to go with the massive ventilation needed. This goes beyond restaurant into instant char territory! https://www.shopthebayou.com/collections/bayou-crawfish/products/dual-jet-bayou-cooker-ss40...See Morekkcooks
