Bracelet I made for a neighbor

She wanted one for a 5 year old. It's so tiny! I hope it fits her, she's petite from what I understand. She picked a heart charm and light amethyst crystals. I think it turned out cute!

Thanks so much! you guys give me some much needed selfconfidence! Sal I was talking about the crimp beads looking auful,Iam in need of new glasses couldnt even see how bad they looked till i enlarged the picture. Ginger you are just to nice! I so appreciate all of your help, and patience with me while I learn, I knew there had to be something I was not doing, that would make them look nicer. I had some of the silver plated covers from a kit , they looked cheap and I didnt know what they were for, you should be a teacher! I have been checking out your new line of jewerly and of course everything is so beautiful!!!! don't know what happened to my original response! but i did go check out the link, and i signed up for free, and then downloaded dozens of decorative fonts and shapes, which i use a lot in my projects, would be very useful for greetings cards. plus i downloaded some cookbooks, and a craft projects book. there's one cookbook for 111 recipes for eggs, looks interesting! and one with camping recipes plus the usual cookies, and a cheesecake book......and more. i liked the link, myself. kudzu

The special tools/other items you might need depend on what kind of bracelet you want. It sounds like you already have an idea of what you want your bracelet to look like. You could string the beads on elastic or leather or ribbon - in which case you would mostly need to tie some knots at the end. You could attach your beads to a silver chain or create your own findings. Working with wire, you'll need something to shape it and something to cut it. A good place to start mighht be your local craft store/bead shop or adult ed program. Try taking a class on jewelry making. That should give you some ideas for assembly. Good question, cathrugg, I was wondering the same thing. And whether it is an expensive hobby? What am I thinking....I can't even keep up with the things I like to do now! LOL

Depending on who much "in bulk" you wish to buy, a bracelet like that would cost $3-10 to make. Making bracelets and most jewelry is very easy. Some techniques take a little practice. There is tons of info. on how to make jewelry on the web. Sites that sell the tools are great because they want to sell you the basic tools. Jewelry is fast to put together too. A rewarding hobby.

Jewelry making is very fun but I do think it is a pretty expensive hobby. If you use sterling silver and crystals or other semi or precious stones it can add up, handcrafted lampwork beads are beautiful but can get costly also. If you purchase the sterling silver letter beads they are about $1.00 each. If you buy good crystals they add up also.

If you try it (jewelry making) just beware that it is very addicting = )
