now i'm thinking about asko tall tub, 3 tier dw vs. miele
Comments (3)I've never had an Asko but I'm with you on the rack design. Asko's center rack is much more useful than the top 3rd racks that every upscale dishwasher seems to have sprouted recently. It's not just the location, but that Asko's third rack has enough height to accept cups and short glasses, not just utensils. And the top rack is located higher (and thus an easier reach) than those nestled below shallow top 3rd racks. But like the Mieles, Asko's racks are rather short front to back, as they are designed to fit in shollower European cabinetry that few have in N. America....See MoreMiele Optima vs Asko dishwasher
Comments (6)Miele has on-board water softner while Asko does not. If you have moderately hard water to hard water you should not even consider Asko. Even with soft water,I still give Miele the edge due to build quality. And Optima has the cuterly tray. Most people that use it love it. I do. Asko has or will soon start manufacturing all their European made appliances in Slovenia. Closing or closed production in Sweeden. Miele is made in Germany. Future parts will definetly be made in Slovenia....See MoreDishwashers -- Asko vs. Miele?
Comments (3)Sorry,dont know anything about Asko except some users indicated "Ya had to learn how to load it" and then it is ok, so apparently it does have some idiosyncracies there. You can have it either way top cutlery tray or a conventionally located one in the Miele so that would not be a factor , I have the Optima, and we luve the cutlery tray on top and in fact that is why we bought it, 3 years ago it was the only one that offered it. I have always had KA dishwashers before, so I did not need "OJT" for loading the Miele ya just throw the stuff in, just like the KA. Drying , especially plastics probably not as good as the old KA, but part of that could be "Psylogical" For more than 30 years we reached in the KA to retrieve Hot dry dishes---ya know, "Old Dogs can learn new tricks"--but------- It takes a while. The Miele has been trouble free and it "Cleans Everything" including my wallet as I mentioned in a prior post, elsewhere! Good luck on your decision Gary...See MoreMiele vs Asko dishwasher
Comments (4)Miele are great dishwashers. Machine quality is great, but dealers are a mixed bag. Be careful from whom you purchase! I bought five Miele appliances and paid the owner of the "high-end only" store to install them. For the installation fee payment, he asked for a personal check made out to him (should have been a red flag right there, but I missed it, my own fault). When I called several months later with a question, the store then claimed their records showed they had sold but not installed my appliances!! It was only when I mentioned the cleared and paid personal check, the other contractors on site as witnesses, and the photos of the owner in the process of installing in my kitchen, that they began to backtrack, that perhaps they had done the installations... At this point I'm going to visit another Miele dealer in person and inquire whether there is a way for them to "adopt" me as a future service customer. I prefer not to rely on the original dealer, whose business ethics and integrity I now distrust. Of course, this doesn't mean other Miele dealers are that way, but I've recently steered friends away from Miele because your long-term relationship with the local dealer is so important for future services and maintenance. At least others can learn from my mistake, and do some in-depth research on the dealers, their customer services, and their integrity, before they spend the thousands it takes to buy modern appliances. Best of luck to you!...See Morecesaly
