How many inches of counter is ideal between front edge and sink?
Comments (18)@Shelley Graham Hi Shelley, it's been a long time since the original thread. On the off chance you see this, have you had any issues with the 4" in front of your sink? We also put in the larger Devonshire in our newly remodeled master bathroom. The stone fabricator left 4" in front of the sink. It feels like a bit of a reach to get to the faucet (we are using Devonshire single faucet.) I guess it also depends on your height? I'd love to hear your insights since you've lived with it for a while. Thanks much!...See MoreDistance between window and sink counter? Pictures, please!
Comments (16)I'm sure that you've made your decision already, but in case anyone else out there is still contemplating, we have the Ticor S405D and our window comes down to the counter with no bumpout. We don't have any issues with splashing- occasionally it happens if we're washing something very large, but it is certainly uncommon. Also with our granite countertops, we have no gaps that are in danger of water, should splashing occur. I suspect that having gaps is more of a function of poor workmanship than anything else. I researched the counterheight windows extensively before we put them in, and have seen many threads on them afterwards, and the post above is the only one I've ever seen that states that water or gaps are an issue....See MoreBank of counter top windows at sink - how to handle code electrical?
Comments (12)Most pop up receptacles will not meet code for the required receptacle for several reasons. Most are only listed for temporary use. The only one I have found that is listed for such use is not in production the last I heard. In any case, ANY receptacle device installed IN countertops MUST be "LISTED for the application" That means that an independent government approved testing laboratory has tested the device to ensure certain standards have been met for outlets designed to go IN countertops, and that the installation instructions show the proper requirements for installing it in the countertop to meet the standards. This includes that the device's 'faceplate' seals well enough when closed to keep water out of the junction box, not a characteristic that a "wall" receptacle would normally poses. 210.52(C) (5) Receptacle Outlet Location. Receptacle outlets shall be located ON or ABOVE, but not more than 500 mm (20 in.) above, the countertop. Receptacle outlet assemblies LISTED for the application shall be permitted to be installed IN countertops. Receptacle outlets rendered not readily accessible by appliances fastened in place, appliance garages, sinks, or rangetops as covered in 210.52(C)(1), Exception, or appliances occupying dedicated space shall not be considered as these required outlets. Informational Note: See 406.5(E) for requirements for installation of receptacles in countertops. 406.5 (E) Receptacles in Countertops and Similar Work Surfaces in Dwelling Units. Receptacles shall not be installed in a face-up position in countertops or similar work surfaces....See MoreHow Many electrical sockets for 27" Kitchen Counter
Comments (11)You need an outlet every 24” Wrong. It's as randy said. Any spot along the counter must be within 24" of an outlet. That means that it COULD be 48" between outlets (ie. the midpoint is 24" from each receptacle). So answering aloha's question, while the outlet wouldn't have to be centered on the 27" counter, it would have to be at least 3 inches in from the end (so that the far edge of the counter is only 24" from the outlet). So putting it on the sidewall is not acceptable. But these are North American code standards. With the use of the term 'socket', I'm wondering if you are from a different area of the world....See Morechisue
