All I have ever done with gourds is paint them. I'll post a couple pics for you to see. I also have a snowman and have started a Santa but never finished him yet.
I've seen some great looking birdhouses made from them too.

I didn't know we had a gourd forum on here, will have to check that out sometime too. Luvs

I dont think bitter gourd grows from cutting. You can get Ivy gourd cuttings and bitter gourd seeds from SeedsOfIndia.com.

OK, here's one. How to water a front yard garden and also my boulevard. Hmmm a garden hose and me standing in several locations. I even set up a chair. In about the middle of this area is a Chinese Elm tree that was getting larger than I wanted but since I hang things (g.junk of course, squirrel/bird feeders) from it I didn't want to cut it down. So my son and I loped off the top 15' of it leaving about 20' of tree. Each year I trim the new growth back somewhat and give the top a crewcut. I mounted one of those 5' tall rotating sprinklers that you set in the ground on the very top and ran the garden hose along the remaining tree trunk and over to a Y valve with a flow control. When I turn it on it sends out a gentle rain in about a 20' wide circle or less that is real close to a summer shower. People walking down the sunny sidewalk all of a sudden look around in wonder cause they cant see the sprinkler amongst the leaves of the tree. Kids ride up and down the sidewalk on their trikes/bikes to cool down and my lawn/garden gets about 90% covered. Next year I might mount an oscillating sprinkler that will cover a rectangular space. The first day I tried this method I sat on a lawn chair and watched the coverage and the sun was low in the west. I got a rainbow that went from one part of the yard to the other and had more colors in it than any rainbow I ever saw in the sky. No matter what I did after that day I could never repeat that effect. I marked the spot at the left end of that rainbow and one day I will dig and find the 'pot of gold' I think.

Hi! I'm from India and grow gourds on my farm.Snake gourds are not only edible but they're actually very tasty. The trick is to cook them before they get all woody and hard when the seeds inside mature.A light saute with a seasoning of salt, pepper and a bit of coconut (if you like the taste of coconut) makes a great change from heavy food. I normally serve it with rice at home. I grow snake gourds and bottle gourds in my farm during the monsoon season. (Here, contrary to what everyone usually says, the monsoon season is when everyone grows gourds). Unfortunately we dont have access to seeds of most types of gourds... or rather the interesting ones used for crafting. Bottle gourd, sponge gourd, ridge gourd, snake gourd, bitter gourd. Thats it! All edible ones, by the way, but not very interesting for crafting.I recently got hooked on gourd crafting via the Net and ever since I've been possessively keeping an eagle eye on the bottle gourds. The others do get eaten but the bitter gourd is definitely not a favourite!

Last year was the first year that my PUDC had a few tips that dried up. It was very hot, with pitiful rainfall. We are on white sand, so watering doesn't hold very long. I water a LOT, but both of my PUDC get a decent amount of sun. I had one Gold Standard out in almost full sun. It had burned tips too. The other 5 GS don't get as much sun, so no burning. I'd guess that if you don't have PUDC in lots of sun then it would look great all year. Mine usually do. But the few crispy tips were only apparent up close. Mine got almost white by August. I like it better when it is yellow. Love the crazy frizzy appearance. I know that lots of people hate Medusa, find it difficult to grow. Mine was a decent sized potful when I bought it at a local nursery, not a TC plug. That may be the trick to growing troublesome hostas. Let someone else grow them the first few years. I have 3 nice little clumps of Lemon Lime and 3 of Feather Boa. I think LL multiples a bit more quickly. I want to divide them so I can have more for "free", but also like the way they look now. I divided my Chartreuse Wiggles last fall, and am sorry it is only half the size it was last year. However, I have lots of little CW's all over the place now, so I can't complain too much.

I occasionally paint a gourd or two. Mine usually look like houses, but I've done a few banks, too, sometimes combining the two.

This is one of the beach house our friends have in FL. It commemorates our first vacation there with them. There's a hidden door where the flamingo is. There's a wire glued to the inside of the door that has a loop on the end. The loop fits thru a small slot on the opposite side of the gourd and locking it in place is a miniature green hose coiled up.

This next one is a bank. In between the luna moths is a door that pops out. A piece of grapevine locks it closed.

Been off the computer for awhile ( only way to get my yard work done) sure am glad I didnt miss this post, luvs, your grouds are sooo cute! what a beautiful job you have done.
