Help with how to rid patio bricks of mildew, mold or moss
Comments (1)My son used a pressure washer to clean the cedar fencing around my house, and the dark discoloration on the fence was a combination of mold/ mildew. He didn't put anything in the water since the pressure was strong enough to remove it. I"m thinking it would be the same on brick....See Moremusty smell, one corner, no apparent mold
Comments (1)A plastic vapour barrier and fg are the worst choices for insulating basement walls. But if that's what you have, at least keep the humidity below 50% RH. I suspect the odour is taking the easiest route to your nose. Not all mould is visible. And not knowing your construction, details, it 's possible that the mould is growing under the base plates for your walls. Are you sure it's not sewer gas from a dry trap or unvented appliance? The bathroom in a rental house I owned always had a dank smell. I attributed the aroma to the hygienically challenged university students who lived there. But when they moved and I renoed, I found the appliances were vented into the wall, not into a stack. Comments (2)ajsmama, Had a very similar problem. Picked up a bottle of Espoma, Earth-tone, Moss Control from Lowes or Southern States (can't remember which), attached it to the garden hose - sprayed and within 36 hours the moss and mold and everything else died and turned a crusty brown. I then took a hose and it washed away. A few areas required a brushing, but it did not harm the stain or paint and did NOT harm nearby plants. It did kill moss that was growing on the ground next to the house though - and I was glad about that. So, I also used in a couple of grass areas to test and it did not harm the grass but did kill the moss. I did not pull up the dead moss and the grass has started to retake its' rightful spot! This was about mid-June....See MoreHere is my growing area. Feel free to add your green house
Comments (63)Hi everyone! Thank you! Jane, Oooooh, don't get me started on squirrels. I wish I could contract eagle hitmen to deal with them.... they've ruined many an orange with one bite, chewed up many succulent leaves, then spit out the leaf in disgust and do it again the next day. The bigger hoodlums are raccoons that decided the center of all my bromeliads have hidden treats. The carnage! Plant parts everywhere and, yes. Orchids and succulents thrown down to the ground. Haven't figured out how to deter these furry gangsters..... My trees....there are 3 trees sort of fighting for canopy space. A guava above the Mary Eliz B bench. A large Australian Umbrella tree that blocks the afternoon Western sun somewhat and a 20 year old Chinese Elm I am annoyed with. They have leafed out and the shelter in heat waves is appreciated, but, they all need taming. Saving pennies for arborist..... I enjoy seeing how simply growing spaces are organized, including yours'. Love how your phalie is happy in the tree! I used to have a few laelias growing on an apricot tree, now long gone. Ariel, how humid is your climate? Seems the orchids would be happy year round....See MoreUser
