In areas open to each other, the granite is all the same - kitchen, family room, butler's pantry and dining room are all the same. All other rooms have different granite based on the color scheme in that room. Only a couple of the rooms have white cabinetry, but I will share several room pics to give you an idea of what we did. I took these pics last week immediately after installation so the countertops are pretty dusty.

We will also have a different granite for the outdoor kitchen, but that has not been installed yet.

If they are different rooms they do not need to be the same. It might be cheaper because the granite supplier might be able to give you a cheaper price if you stick with one granite, but it is not necessary in terms of decorating.

We too will be doing different granites in different rooms. The bathrooms will each be different, depending on the color schemes in that ensuite.

If you find one granite you love, and choose to do that everywhere in your house, it wouldn't be "wrong" to do. But I believe most people tend to do a few different choices, to coordinate with their room colors and the "feel" that are hoping to create in that particular space.

i don't care for granite in bathrooms. -just me. we're doing white marble w/gray veining, although not carrera. the stone guy has some larger remnants of statuary that he's throwing in for free. we just pay for the fabrication.

We are doing granite in our bathrooms but were advised to do a different one b/c typical kitchen & bath granites are different in thickness. The kitchen is 3cm thick and the bath 2cm. If you do 3cm in your bath you have to get extensions for your plumbing fixtures. So we couldn't use the same slab if we wanted to.

We did soapstone and marble in the kitchen and a different granite in all other rooms: laundry, master bath, powder bath, kids' bath and guest bath. We used 3cm everywhere except laundry room. Nobody ever said anything about plumbing extensions for using 3cm in the baths. But that may be the case.

You don't necessarily need to have plumbing extensions for 3cm granite. Check the manufacturer's specs for your units...they will state the min-max deck thickness with which that fixture can be used.
