How to resize?

Can anyone tell me how to resize a picture?

I have a 967 x 645 pixels jpg. that I need to resize to

740 wide x 150.

ANY help would be appreciated.

There's several online. Make sure you uncheck anything that refers to retain ratio.

Almost any graphic editor will do it too.

Many (most) photo software packages offer the ability to resize. What photo processing package to you have? I use the package that came with my camera, it resizes.

I think I should have explained that there are two different things - i.e. file size and picture dimensions. A picture that has file size of 1,831,690 bytes (which is quite a big file) probably also has large dimensions & should be quite a good picture. However, if it's file size is taken down to 60 bytes, it will certainly look terrible. What you should be aiming at is taking the file size down to about 60kb - i.e. 60 kilobytes, which is not 60, but 60,000 bytes. 2. It a picture still looks bad at 60kb, or is too big for you screen, you probably needed to first reduce the picture dimensions - which are not the same thing as the file size. Pictures from digital cameras are often quite big - e.g my camera gives pictures with dimensions of 2048 x 1536 pixels - far too big to fit on my computer screen. A good size for Hortiplex & for most computer screens is a picture 800 x 600.. Irfanview (mentioned by Carol) is a very good program for doing this. When you try it all again, I suggest you first use Irfanview to change the picture dimensions to 800 x 600 & save it at Irfanview's 'best' quality. This will probably still be stored as a file way above 60kb, but it should be considerably less than 1,831,690 bytes. Then use JPEG Optimizer to compress the file containing this 800 x 600 picture down to 60kb. Herb

Here I am! Nice pix moonie..the critters are all so cute! If you want to post your pix going across, what you have to do is use the code you used for the clickable thumbnails. Did you know you can do more than one at once? just click on the lil square under each pic in PB, then go down to the bottom and hit 'Generate HTML & IMG Codes'. If you want to do alot of pix that are on seperate pages of an album, it's best to hit 'View All' so they all come up on the same page, then you can check off as many pix as you want. OK NOW you hit that 'Generate HTML & IMG Codes'. Copy the first set of codes, paste it in your msg like you did b4. Now you have all this mumbo jumbo stuff, right? lol Each set of codes you copy will start with . Delete those unless you want your 4 pix in a row to be centered in the middle of the page. There will also be a at the end. Again, if you want them centered leave it, if not than delete it. Next step is that each individual pic code will start with . Go to the second Again with the third Now you come to the fourth set. Put your cursor right b4 the Then repeat the above steps with the backspaces for the next 3 codes, Then 'Enter' again, so on and so forth. I always count as I go, ..Enter, 1, 2, 3, Enter, 1, 2, 3, Enter, etc I prob made it sound more complicated than it is, but its really easy..I just talk alot, lmao. A set of 2 separated rows; Collage look where there is no blank row between; Of course you can do as many or as few in a row as you want. I just think 4 is best that way the rows dont go so long where people have to scroll over to the right. Just seems more polite. Most folks dont like it when there is a huge pic and you have to scroll back and forth to read what was written all cuz of a ginormous pic..so same goes for long rows. I wouldnt do more than 4 personally. That concludes our class for today folks..lol Seriously tho, if you have any more questions, just holler!

how do i resize a jpeg?

i downloaded irfanview and all plugins. i resized a jpeg and it did it but it uses paintbrush or paint and saves the resized image as a bmp extention not a jpeg. when i tried to upload the resized file it was refused because the file is not valid.... ie not jpeg. :( :( so now i am wondering if i should uninstall this product as it is not doing what i want. IMPORTANT question - when i installed irfanview a window appeared asking about associations. i did not know what to do as all associations were NOT checked and i figured it made sense to use these associations so it knows how to open files with different extentions. so i clicked on select all. the next window then asked, and this is the issue, "You want to change current associations and to associate one or many file types with IrfanView! Are you REALLY sure?" that is an exact quote i did not add ! or caps. so i worried about the current wording and when it capitalized really, well i said no. it accepted that. so i assume i ended up with the same thing as if i did not check select all and left all boxes unchecked. should i have gone with select all and replied yes? i was afraid this might cause conflicts with other programs and their functions. not sure what to do. any suggestions? remember win 98 se did all this in mozilla browser. thanks, tom

You can change the size of the picture in the export dialog box. As I recall there are some standard settings or you can specify a maximum size.

I just have Kodak EasyShare software. I have looked in 'help' for resizing, but it only does things in general terms. I didn't find what I was looking for. It could be that I am not sure what I am looking for.

I do have a Photosmart program that I can install, if needed.

I have used a great little utility for years called Irfanview to do all sorts of photo editing including resizing. It's free and very easy to d/l and install. If you do try it be sure to also d/l the plugins.

I downloaded a tool named, Power Toys for Windows XP (don't remember who linked me to it). It has a resizer tool which is so easy. You right-click on the photo and it askes if you want small, medium or large. That's it, so easy and quick.

I could never figure out the others mentioned. I'm sure if you Google it you'll find this. There's a bunch of other tools, but I didn't understand what they did. But this one is the greatest.

I just thought I would let y'all know I got it done, and accomplished a lot along the way too!

My computer crashed about 6 weeks ago, and in getting it restored, I lost everything in it. I mean EVERYTHING!

To resize my picture, I downloaded Picasa, and it FOUND all my pics! I wish it could find the rest of my stuff!

Anyway, thanks a lot. You really helped me.

I would really like to find a free download that will re-size my pics in inches. ie:4x7, 3x5 etc.
Pixels and ratios just get me all confused(no, it doesn't take much) LOL.
I mainly want to use it for e-mail attatchments or forum photo posting.

Resizing is always done in Pixels. Why not open the pic in Paint and go to Image...Stretch/Skew and reduce by percentage.

You won't get a bang-on 4x6 or 5x7 but it should suit your purposes.

And use "Save As" not "Save"..and change file name slightly.

The resize feature in Irfanview is truly a no brainer. It is so easy even I can use it. And for what it's worth I like using Picasa2 for various features also.
