My Sabal Palmetto, 7 months later...
Comments (18)If you want to try to add some new palms, I definitely also recommend livistonia and Arenga engleri (aka dwarf sugar palm) for your zone. They are both rated for a zone 9a (livistonia is actually very tolerant of a zone 8b) and I dont think they would have a problem at all during the average winter, and they should be able to handle the high teens when established albeit with a lot of damage if the cold lasts for long durations. A pindo is a great palm to strech the zone and so are queens, washys, dates, and a lot of others. Its great to have a lot of room to plant in, but I guess it probably can get a little overwhelming to plant in such a large landscape because there is SOOOO much room. But it gives you a great chance to make your own private botanical garden with winding paths, seating, and a huge tropical canopy of palms and tropical trees and vines! But thats a lot of money and work to do at once so its great to start with a few beautiful and cold tolerant palms. I do love to see natives too so the sabals are a great family of palms to grow! Good luck! -Alex...See MoreNew Appliances, one month later

Comments (94)Oops, sorry for the very delayed response, MGMum and gemcap :-(. Thank you for your kind comments . MGMum: Of course I don't mind, I'm tickled white! ;-) gemcap: Thanks for your warm wishes, really appreciate it! Yes, we are truly enjoying our kitchen - a year later. Clean-up's the best part - so easy and such a pleasure! Yes, I did put in a great deal of thought into this kitchen and researched a great deal, too. Thanks for intuiting that! ;-)...See MoreBluestar 36” RNB – 16 months later…..
Comments (30)Personally, I find that extra oven space is more important than extra burners. It took a while to learn this skill, but I now use my ovens much more frequently and it saves a lot of work. I rarely if ever run out of burners, and we only have four of them. I do use all three ovens for big meals, though. So, that's my answer for whether you need a six burner range. As for the griddle, I'm torn. I sometimes cook in a kitchen that has an overlay griddle. It's really fun to use, but cleanup is a little more work. Also, a 12" griddle is really small and doesn't do as much as you need. On the other hand, we have GrillGrates™ for our outdoor gas BBQ, and let me tell you, it's amazing. Best money I have spent in a while. They flip over and become a giant flat top, and that's so nice to work on. Also, cleanup is much easier than for an indoor kitchen. I know I didn't really answer your question. But maybe this is some food for thought on what you can do to optimize your kitchen for your needs....See Morekmg67
