I've read that the current line of Capital ranges are very good. I've seen them in person and, to my eye, the fit and finish on them is very nice and they have a good feel. I place them more in the "refined" group of ranges, rather than the "functional" group.

I've read that there are people "closing out" the previous line on eBay and the like, which seems not as highly-regarded as the current line.

I've had a reputable retail source suggest them as an alternative in the sealed-burner space.

I've read the manufacturer's information which suggests that their high-end line uses an infra-red element for the top-surface grill, instead of the more common "Weber gas grill" approach. If so, and I grilled indoors, that would be one of the few things to potentially sway me away from commercial-style open burners.

Don't tell my wife that she could have had rotisserie chicken at home from our own oven, OK?

I recall a thread here that some people felt that their Capital could have benefited from a little more "knob turn" between high and low. I don't recall the outcome.

There have been a few threads about the new Capital ranges and range tops. I have lp version of the 30" 5 burner with the rotisserie. I haven't used the rotisserie yet but I've linked a recent thread about the good results someone else had.

The good -- I like the power of the burners. I like the looks of it, fit and finish. The stainless is easy to clean. I don't use the oven very often but I haven't had any problems with it. This thing is built like a (beautiful shiny) tank. Their customer service is very responsive and helpful.

The less good: There is about 1/4" rotational difference between high and low, the rest of the rotation does almost nothing. Simmer could stand to be a bit lower, but I've heard there is a way to adjust that. The burners have great power, but their large diameter means small pots get a more heat on the sides than the center. (Lack of center heat is an issue with all circular sealed burners, but some ranges have at least one smaller burner.) Someone here noted that those small saucepans can tip if not placed correctly on the burner because of way the grates are designed. I haven't had that happen but I did intentionally set it that way to check it out, and it could indeed happen.
