Anybody else just pooped out from it all?
Comments (10)it seems.. that your only problem.. is that you want it all done yesterday ... how about his ... TAKE A WEEK OFF ... drag your lawnchair around ... with an adult beverage of your choice ... and decide where you need to go in the future ... what bed to make this fall.. so you wont have to do it in spring ... what plants need to be moved in fall ... gardening does NOT have to be all about hard work .. take some time to enjoy and plan ... and when your butt starts getting motivated again.. go at it a bit slower ... work smart.. not hard ... trying to do.. too much.. all at once.. can very easily become overwhelming ... take timeouts.. to enjoy that which has been accomplished.. sooner or later ... you will get itchy to get back out there .. and if you did nothing more this season ... so be it.. you have already done a great amount ... relish your accomplishments.. rather than fester in your expectations of failure .... the ONLY person you have allegedly let down is you .. i am positive everyone else is mystified with what you have accomplished ... declare the garden job done.. and find some other excuse to avoid housecleaning ... lol .. how about residing the house while you are at it ... maybe a new roof ... maybe a garden on the roof??? .. so many options to avoid housework ... good luck ken ps: time to join a garden club.. and go visit other local gardens .... for more inspiration ......See MoreAnybody else blown their hosta budget on water this year?
Comments (16)We could have made a mortgage payment with the water bill this year......I think by the time it's over and done, it will cost us more than $1500 for water for the 3 1/2 months of drought and extreme heat we have had. And we still lost plants. Japanese maples, evergreens, a dogwood, and we won't know how many perennials and shrubs until spring. I wish my water bill was as low as yours, Babka! I would be dancing in the misty/drizzle! Reality is quite different here! You garden quite differently in CA than we do here in the midwest, as I remember from my many visits out there and all the plants I couldn't even begin to identify; and the rains came in the late winter in northern CA.. Looks like La Nina is back again, officially, so we might have a continued drought (we are still under extreme drought conditions, according to NOAA) and will be that way for a long while. Next summer looks to be like a repeat of this past summer. So thankful for the rain we have gotten the last two days, but it wasn't nearly enough. Hoping for more. And it just started raining again! But I've moved a couple of pots and things, and even after 4 1/2 inches of rain, the ground was still dry as powder under them....See MoreAnybody else get too much rain?
Comments (3)I bet you are delighted that the rain continues to fall, even though it is a bit much rain for new transplants. The quick answer, is "No, we are not getting too much rain here." The last time we had too much rain here in Marietta was when 12.4" fell on April 29. Our rainfall for September at our house so far is about 2/10s of an inch, and we had an inch of rain in August. On paper, we look "great" because of that April rainfall, but the last six weeks or so have been very, very dry. We had a 50% chance of rain for today and were supposed to get up to about 85-87 degrees. There has been no rain, and the thermometer on our porch topped out at 94 degrees. I think they sent us the wrong weather. : ) Dawn...See Morewet dog smell from newer dishwasher-
Comments (238)What a problem. Lots of opinions and suggestions here but no solution. No mention of contacting dishwasher manufacturers who must surely know about this issue. I contacted Neff in the UK for advice who suggested using a dishwasher cleaner every 30 cycles (every two weeks in or house of two people). Tried that in addition to my 15 min prewash in cold waterand soda crystals, often also with a squirt of bleach, followed by the 1 hr wash at 65C using Fairy Platinum plus (most expensive detergent ever?). Still some odour on wineglasses out of the cupboard next day. What I'm now doing is rinsing the wineglasses just at the end of the wash cycle under the boiling water tap. This works. Would love to hear a proper technical explanation ( and solution) from a scientist at a dishwashr manufacturer, but I won't be holdong my breath....See Moreboba1
