Is a counter depth fridge worth it?

We're doing a kitchen remodel. As you can see the the fridge is on the right hand wall as you look into the space. I've noticed that most of the home shows on HGTV, DIY, etc, build kitchens with fridges that look even with the cabinets. I presume these fridges must be counter depth.

I've been able to find a few posts on this site on comments regarding counter depth but I'd like to get some new feedback. In some cases we're talking about a 4 to 6 inch difference in depth. I'd prefer that clean-lined look but I'm not sure if I'm willing to give up the useable space and $ to have that look using a counter depth fridge.
