Comments (1)how about trying to focus your post a bit better, it reads like: "should I have breakfast or dinner, should I get the jellybeans or the foie gras, no maybe I'll get a McChicken it's good isn't it? But I only want to stop at Chez Neu and I'm a vegan so I guess the jellybeans and McChicken are out....See MoreSingle Oven Reliability: Miele, Thermador or Dacor
Comments (3)I researched my single oven purchase until my eyes were cross eyed. Purchased a Gaggenau. Miele was #2. Thermador gets horrible reliability reviews from CR and reviews here and over the net are pretty bad for Dacor. I have read several places were people were upset about such an expensive oven's major parts only lasting 10 years while some mainstreem brands last 20+ years. Allegedly Dacor customer service says these ovens were designed to last 10 years so customers should be happy they lasted their full lifespan. Here is a link that might be useful: Miele Outlet...See MoreThermador single oven vs. Dacor vs. others?
Comments (2)Dacor -probable 10 year life. GE Monogram - GE Profile with pro-style door skin. Profile is not a bad oven for the price. Miele- You should list the specific model. These have generally been very good but some had problems keeping even temps. It seems you know the deal on Thermador.Maybe a new owner will chime in but not alot of people on this forum buying Thermador ovens because of the track record you cited. BTW Paying a premium for Dual-Fuel range when you are getting a second electric wall oven makes little sense to me. Yes,electric ovens are better for certain things. Gas ovens have their advantages as well, like roasting meats and baking certain dense breads. I would poke around the threads on this forum and read about the best liked AG pro-style ranges. Capital Culinarian and Bluestar RNB and save about $1500 bucks. Or get the Capital Culinarian with self-clean gas oven and motorized rotisserie and save about $200. Or spend an extra $400 bucks and get them painted in color....See MoreThermador Freedom vs Miele 42" (KM6377) vs Wolf 36" Induction Cooktop
Comments (5)I second looking at the Bosch benchmark. I liked the controls on the Bosch and the Wolf. They both seemed to do a good job recognizing small pots on large burners. I don’t own either but I have tested displays. I really disliked the Thermador Freedom. Reasons are: 1) I had trouble getting controls to react when I pressed them. The gaggenau version was worse. Even the salesmen had trouble. 2) Limited to four pots/pans. Most 36 inch cooktops allow 5. 3) it is not as free as you expect. If I recall, there are limits to how many items you can put on one side. If you turn up the heat on one item, it turns down heat on the other behind your back. Other cooktops have these restrictions also, but they are explicit. Here they are implicit which makes it very confusing whenthings don’t work or you discover 15 minutes later the water you set to boil is only simmering..... I have seen reports of problems with Miele controls but I have not tested them myself. This was several years ago when the 42 inch first came out. I love the idea of a 42 inch induction cooktop but I also think it’s too risky when only one manfacuturer makes one that size. I found the Bosch flexinduction cooktop the most flexible followed by the Wolf. Caveat: I tested these out several years ago. I don’t know what improvements/changes manufacturers have made since then....See Moreshaun_
