show me your bluestar ranges

I've been pouring through this website for the last 2 months. What an education! Thank you. Finally, I think I've decided on a 36" bluestar range-love those open burners! A little concerned about the aesthetics, though. From what I've read, it doesn't have the "polish" of a Wolf. I'm not overly worried about it, as I'm fairly easy going about these types on things...just don't want it too rough in the new kitchen. White cabs, soapstone countertops. Can you pls. show me what your bluestars look like in your kitchens? Thanks a million!

Jerzeygal - do you know about the Finished Kitchens Blog? Forum members post pics of their finished kitchens there, along with all the details. Then you can search for whatever detail you are looking for - e.g. type of countertop, cabinetry, flooring, faucet, sink, and of course by appliance. twodogs, I thought the same thing. Boy did I have a story, complete with a nail biting deadline of Thanksgiving, receiving damaged packaging, torrential rain (ok, not torrential, after all I'm in Ca.) but rain enough to prevent climbing on the roof without a safety net, last minute drive through rush hour traffic and torrential rain (really!) to see a craigslist external blower the exact same model as my damaged one (what are the chances of that?) and cajoling my contractor in to braving the rain and working the day before Thanksgiving to install my blower on a slippery wood shake roof. I spotted him the whole time. So, since the op is just looking for stories about range hood backsplashes, and I don't have one, just plain sheetrock at the moment, and probably for many moments to come, I guess I don't have anything to contribute. ps, I saved $800 on the blower!

My sister has the freestanding Whirlpool double-oven, and loves it. Pictures in link. It is very affordable and cooks like a dream, she says. (She and her husband are true gourmet chefs and very picky about cooking gear.) That said, I think the new Bosch slide in is the bomb, and for not a lot more money. But you will give up one oven to have it over the Whirlpool. I went with a 30 inch Bosch induction cooktop and an Electrolux oven and warming drawer combo. I wanted an extra oven but did not have the space, so at the excellent recommendation of people here, I supplemented with a Breville countertop oven, and could not be more pleased. How invisible do you want it to be, and how modern? I have the Zephyr Europa Genova pictured here. It's an under-cabinet mo del, with a glass part that slides out to activate the fan and light. Mine is recirculating and works great (for a recirculating fan) so I can only imagine that the real vented one would be terrific.

Thanks for the links! I suppose I should have tried to do a little more legwork on my own...very helpful. Breezy- I wish I could tell you how, but I have no idea. Sorry.

Never mind, I pasted the link into google and it did not work the first time but did just now. We have the Wolf hood with heat lamps as well and have loved it. Great hood (nice range and kitchen too!). One word of advice, go ahead and order some replacement knobs for the hood controls. After about 3 years, ours started breaking down from the heat and fell off. I ordered replacement knobs from the web but can't remember where...something like applianceparts.com I think.

Not difficult to clean at all. Just wipe down the top stainless once in a while. The grates aren't that easy, since they're heavy and have that industrial finish. It tears up sponges - I havent found the perfect cleaning gizmo for them yet. Probably some sort of brush. Im also afraid of denting my sinks or chipping the granate, so I always take care to put down towels.

Honestly, I think I've only had the grates off to clean once in the past couple months, though. We're not using it as much as we should, and we tend to be careful when cooking.

Kitchen turned out great - got the bluestar thanks to this board. we love it.

It wasnt available near us either. We bought from Eurostoves. Trevor was great to work with.

Having some service issues recently with another range, if you even consider purchasing out of market, be sure you know who will do your service and talk to them before hand.

I would be lost without the help of our local dealer and distributor on a current situation. Others have posted here, that it can have an impact and now, I can see why.
