What can a Bluestar do American Range Performer can't?
Comments (18)I currently own an American Range DF 36" with 6 burners. I bought the floor model, not a huge discount on the cost, BUT it did take away from the length of the warranty time for me, as in shortened it by 6 months, strike 1 against AR. Also, in the first year I owned it died just before Thanksgiving, so I had no oven for a full week, but only because I bought the replacement part, and paid for 2nd day shipping to get it replaced asap. Then this year, I thought the sail had died again, but no, this time was the Control Panel at a list price of $800.00. For the large expense of this range, to have to have it fixed 2 times in less than 3 yrs, and no warranty on the parts or labor, too pricey and I would not recommend American Range to a home owner. When it works, it's great, I love the 36" oven and that I can have my canner on the stove and still have space to make dinner. But, the "fix" for the sail part, now makes a noise half the time so it sounds like the oven is going to break again. I would look at a Garland to see if they offer a dual fuel, or get a subzero or wolf. No real warranty from American Range, and one of the repair companies I spoke with was charging a surcharge to come and look at it because "I bought a high end stove, so we charge more just to come to your house". I was not a happy camper, and there are only 2 service techs in my area that service American Range. Best of luck!...See More36" American Range All Gas vs 36" Wolf All Gas Range
Comments (6)In February we were making a decision about the AG ranges and were looking at American, Bluestar and Wolf. We did tons of research and looked and looked. At that time I was also thinking I wanted a color range rather than stainless, so that narrowed it down to Bluestar and American. We decided the American was a better value than the Bluestar and were ready to order until we did a final measurement and discovered that the extra depth of the Performer would not work in our particular configuration because a drawer on an adjacent wall wouldn't open. So, much as we would have liked it, that eliminated that possibility. Then, we found an AG Wolf floor model on clearance (one of the old models with the open burner) and bought that. I like it, but personally I wouldn't want the burners on the new model Wolf. And, there have been a couple times (maybe only 3 or 4) when I thought to myself I would have liked to have one of the more powerful burners from the Performer. In your shoes, I'd save the money and get the Performer. This doesn't mean I don't like the Wolf; it just means that I don't think it is worth the extra money now, especially considering the fact it has sealed burners....See Morecleaning American Range Performer

Comments (2)I was able to track down a retail outlet outside of the city that carries Capital but the Culinarian as I figured is priced at $5500, way out of budget. They have a discontinued model for $3200 but not sure which model. This post was edited by omega73 on Thu, Dec 5, 13 at 15:03...See Morebmorepanic
