Thanks, Joe. I ran Spybot ( http://spybot.top-pc-download.com/da/ ) and it says I'm clean, but if you think it will help, I'll download the program you mentioned and run it tomo, then report back to you.

Run adwcleaner as Joe suggests. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

What you described has all of the characteristics of a virus infection or browser hijacker as previously suggested. Running just one program, like Spybot, is insufficient to know if you are clean. In addition, what antivirus software are you running and is it up-to-date?

I downloaded the suggested program & ran it. I ended up with several new nuisance programs on my computer that I didn't want, and a black screen on one user page.

I did a systems restore that took care of it. All's well. Thanks for the effort and for considering my problem. I appreciate it.

If you downloaded from bleeping computer as suggested you clicked in the wrong place to get the other things.

You need to click the blue button almost centre screen then do as your version of Windows suggests to download the file.

Lot of people have issue with that Bleeping computer link, I don't think that wait for the box to pop up.. where you save the file or something like that.

Sometimes I forget that not all folks block ads(or use WOT). I think I'm going to start turning off Adblock Plus to check for "traps?" before sending anybody anywhere to download anything. It seems Google is becoming downright deceptive, even dangerous.

Even if you do click the correct button on the first page, you still get sent to another page where, if you're impatient, you get a second chance to... be deceived?
