Bathroom vent ducting 180 degree turn

My house is under construction and I noticed several of the bathroom vents have the ducting coming out of the end opposite of where the ducting needs to vent. They have the duct making a 180 degree turn which I know cuts down on the efficiency of the fan. If they just turn around the unit it would vent out in theright direction with no turns.

I'm not sure if there is any reason why it should be done this way. Am I right? Is it unreasonable to ask them to switch it around? Ventilation of humidity is important to me especially living in the south. Why lose efficiency in a fan that's not very strong to begin with?
