Dacor 6 Burner Rangetop vs. Wolf 6 Burner Rangetop
Comments (1)Buy the one which has the knobs that feel the best to you or looks better. Both pretty much the same for cleanup. Wolf has more cache FWIW....See MoreThermador vs. Wolf Rangetop
Comments (3)"Posted by CT_Newbie I had been set on a Wolf rangetop until I read a recent thread in the Kitchen forum which said Wolf went to sealed burners for cost reasons, not for product improvement. The Consumer Reports for their latest range model wasn't very good. I have a Wolf DF and I really like the burners. It has great control especially at the low end. It is very easy to clean but I think something like a BS would also be easy to clean. I don't think it is a matter of one being easier to clean, sealed vs open but varies brand to brand. I think the cost savings for Wolf, is that they only have to deal with one burner type. I am not sure why they picked the semi open burner to discontinue. I am guessing that it might be because the semi open burner wasn't really a true open burner. Also the simmer on the sealed burner is wider so the heat is more diffused on the sealed burner. I know that some posters here wanted to get the semi open burner before they dc'd it but I preferred the sealed over the semi open when I bought mine. Unfortunately I will probably be looking to replace my range, less than five years old, because of issues with the blue enamel so I wouldn't be recommending anything Wolf. Their "decades of service" promised, has shrunk. Their level of service over the time I have been on this forum has definitely declined. " Can anyone explain which simmer is better?" There are negligible differences in the simmer. Look at the BTU rating. For some the clicking is annoying. As far as ovens. I would allow for 30 inch ovens if possible. I would also stay away from anything with blue enamel. I have had it fail in 5 appliances with three different brands. If your ovens work and you like them I would be inclined to keep them!...See MoreKA 36 ' rangetop vs Wolf rangetop
Comments (6)I admit to having a Wolf and never having looked at this KA until I looked it up for this post, so am starting out biased. ;-) I like all my burners the same power, which is one reason I chose Wolf. For example, I can use a 2 burner griddle sideways or vertically on any burners I want, and I can always arrange whatever size pans and whatever I'm cooking the way that works best for me, not by what output each burner provides. Also, Wolf customer service has an exceptional reputation for standing behind their products. I didn't experience that with Maytag, which is now in the same business family with KA, so I'm not sure if it's better or worse than I dealt with. There's the open vs sealed burner issue, which you can probably do a search on to find previous discussions on this forum. Different people prefer different things, but I thought the open burners looked like the best performers and what I'd prefer to clean. I only ever wonder if I should have gotten a BlueStar to have burners that are even more open. Do you have natural gas or LP? The KA specs say it's configured for NG, but can be converted to LP, which usually means a loss in BTUs for propane users. These are all tough decisions, especially when you're talking about so much money for either choice. I just didn't want to spend thousands and be disappointed, so after my research decided Wolf was my best bet for satisfaction without regret. Best wishes on your decision....See More30" Rangetop - 4 vs 5 burners - Wolf, Viking, Thermador
Comments (11)"4 burner ranges don’t actually use the same amount of space - there is dead space in the middle and it seems like more around the sides too. Whereas the 5 burner range uses more of the actual 30”." The 30" width is the constant between the two choices. The "dead space in the middle and more around the sides too" on the 4 burner configuration is exactly my point. That is why there will be room for your 12" pan and your dutch oven at the same time. If you cannot find the Thermador 5-burner range on display, just go to a store that has several other brands' 30" 5-burner ranges on display, like Best Buy or whatever local appliance stores there are. Bring your pans with you. You will still be able to see the difference in layout and how your pans fit on a 5-burner 30" range vs. a 4-burner 30" range. Perhaps you will like the 5-burner setup. I do not because of the reasons I've stated about fitting pans. Also, I have never needed 5 burners at once, even on Thanksgiving. A totally different approach would be to go to a 36" cooktop. You won't have the industrial look your husband likes, but unlike with a rangetop, you can fit an extra drawer under it, and you won't have the issues of fitting pans, and even have some room to set down pans that aren't cooking. I understand you said you cannot fit another 6" of width. Perhaps post your layout on this forum (post separate thread, entitled with something catchy like "Pls help me fit a 36" cooktop in my kitchen!"). You will need to provide measurements. There are some amazing layout gurus who hang out here, like amazing....See MoreUday Madireddy
