Have All Clad handles changed?

Recently, I bought a 2 qt sauce pan on the internet & the handle seems to be angled higher than my other AC sauce pans. I went in Wms Sonoma yesterday & checked theirs - some, but not all, of their sauce pan handles seemed to be higher too. I know the LTD2 & Coppercore have a new handle with a hole near the pan, but mine are MC2 & SS.

I know the French skillets have a steeply angled handle compared to the rest of the skillets & saute pans, but I thought that was part of the pan's individual design? Has anyone else noticed this?

I got my pans in November of last year; two of them Fr skillets, two saute pans, and three saucepans (and a stockpot). I know the Fr skillets have steeper angled handles than the other long handled pans, but don't know how the other pans' handles compare to older or newer ones available through various retailers.

I'm fairly certain that I'm not hallucinating - you'll note that I didn't say 100% certain!
This is a photo & the aluminum exterior pan is the one that I just bought; I've had the others for several years.

I've read on this forum how a lot of people don't care for AC's handles & I could never understand their problem. Now I see. IMO unless you're very tall, a medium size or larger pan with this handle will put your wrist at a not-so-comfortable angle.

Close, but the distinctions are a bit different than that. In both lines, certain pieces have disk bottoms; these are the pieces such as saute pans and saucepans that don't really benefit from straight-gauge construction. (Indeed, conducting heat up the side is quite possibly a bad thing, not a good thing, in pans with vertical sides.) In these pieces, Atlantis uses copper-disk construction, and Apollo uses aluminum disks. In addition, Atlantis uses full-diameter disks, which prevents hot spots in the corners. In other pieces, like rounded sautueses and frying pans, both lines use clad aluminum construction that is very similar to All Clad's, expect that they use thicker aluminum. The lines also differ in the handles. Apollo has loop handles that are formed from SS bar stock, and long handles that are made from rolled SS sheet stock. Atlantis has cast SS handles, that are very attractive in design. Both lines feature the Silvinox surface treatment of the SS, which makes it harder and more chemically-resistant than normal 18/10 stainless.

I'd get a tea kettle. Honestly, pouring that much boiling water from an open pan is a recipe for accidents. I'm not one for single-use items in the kitchen, but I keep the tea kettle out (mine isn't so pretty, just a Revereware) but I also use it for adding a little water to something I'm cooking. Mine came with a chrome rack but after trying it once I got rid of it. Wrestling with that thing and a 450F. stone with a pizza on it was too acrobatic for me... too dangerous. But hear this: Pizza stones are a mess after one or two uses and you don't want to put soapy water on yours and have it absorb that taste... wouldn't work anyway since it's not surface dirt but baked on/in carbon. And brushes sold to clean them just don't do the job. Put the stained/soiled stone in your oven when you do the self-clean step. You'll be startled at the perfectly clean stone you remove a few hours later. Mine looked brand new. The carbon has been reduced to ash, just like anything that soiled the oven. Brush it off. Voila!

My ALL Clad SS handles and lid handle can get hot if whatever is cooking for any length of time. - My Cuisinart SS do not. I attribute it to the construction of the AC. It has the alum. running up the entire sides of the pan and the heat is transfered to the handles. On the Cuisinart there is only a disk on the bottom, no heat goes up the side of the pan for transfer. That said the AC is far supperior for anything that will be cooked for any length of time or simmmered. I like the Cuis. for fast veggies and pasta water.

Prior to my November purchases, I'd never owned or even handled (no pun intended!) A-C pots and pans. I only started checking them out shortly before then, while trying to decide which new pans to get to use on my Wolf range (my Farberware/Reverware stuff scorched too much on the higher output burners).

I only noticed the handle angle on the Fr skillets, after I'd purchased and started using them. I wasn't even aware that there was a difference in the handles (bet them and the frying pans). I'll have to check out the handle angles on my saucepans and saute pans, and see if they have varying or the same handle angle(s).
